Lovely property with charm and character, loads of safe easy parking for motorcycles. Lady managing check in / bar / etc was a hoot but very helpful. Busy busy busy at lunch but less so in evening. Code needed to get in and out of back door and restaurant a separate business.

The building is beautiful and full of history. Great restaurant and peaceful atmosphere.
A fan in the room would have been great.

Well-maintained historic building (a former convent), whose rooms still retained a flavour of the monastic life. Excellent dinner in the hotel restaurant. capacious car park. Close to town centre

Very good conversion of an old convent. I was travelling on my own with 2 dogs en route to the ferry in Bilbao. The ability to enter and exit, with lots of space, made for a more relaxing time than usual.

3 water, 3 pineapple juices, 3 slices packets of sponge cake for breakfast. Good parking. Took dogs. Suited us for our overnight stay.

Beautiful building full of character. Helpful and friendly staff. Spacious room - perfect for us travelling with 2 dogs. Secure parking behind the property. Delicious food served in the restaurant.

Lovely building, room was a good size, good location for the town (although no restaurants open at night during our stay!). Only spoke to staff once over the phone but she was very helpful. A small complimentary breakfast was provided in the room which was adequate. Good value for money
Finding the car park at night was difficult- there was no sign at the car park gate to say it was for the hotel, and the hotel itself wasn’t well signed at night. Bit odd at first not having any staff in the hotel after 6, but the access and security arrangements worked well.

Ideal location for the town with good private parking. The hotel still retained some if it's original charm. Easy check in & out. Polite, friendly staff.
I could not lock my room with the key from the inside but there was a small slide lock. Bathrooms could do with an bit of a refurbishment.

it’s a beautiful historic building right in the town with a carpark, which is always a bonus.
The restaurant only opened until 4pm, could have done with it opening in the evenings.

This is an exceptional hotel, the second time we have stayed and consistently excellent.

The hotel was pretty special for a two-star property. The location is very good if you're visiting Balmesada. The restaurant was also very good.
Nothing really.

Lovely historic building in a medieval town close to the ferry port at Bilbao but well away from the city. Lots of character and interesting little town to visit and spend an afternoon beofre going to the ferry the following morning. Great staff and able to access the secure car park and hotel via provided code based door openings.
Room a little small and tired but hey, its only for sleeping in... Continental breakfast provided (but not used - bottle of water, carton of juice and a cake each), but used 2 cafes next to the hotel - one of which had the best coffee we have ever tasted and the other also did beautiful breakfasts, a huge range of teas and sandwiches for the ongoing journey

Good location minutes walk from the town. Building very interesting and beautiful architecture. Bedrooms good size and social areas nicely decorated. Clean and very secure free parking.
Property great but we arrived on a national public holiday. We expected to be able to have an evening meal and breakfast. We weren’t told at the time of booking or when we enquired at lunchtime that these were not available. This was very disappointing as there was not a great selection of places to eat in the town.

Good parking, quiet room, clean and well maintained. The coffee, orange juice and baked goods left in our room for breakfast were most welcome
If a link had been provided for on line check-in we would have used it, nothing obvious on website. Over worked staff meant we were left waiting for someone to appear to serve on reception and bar which was frustrating.

The room was big and spacious and they provided a cot for out baby which was very handy whilst travelling. The communal areas were very well kept and was a lovely bar on site. Would stay again.
Breakfast could have been better.
