About this cottage rental
All surfaces are disinfected between guests.
Step back in time to an old-fashioned beach cottage. Lighthouse Cottage is in the shadow of the Tybee Island Lighthouse, which is just 1.5 blocks away. The beach also is just 1.5 blocks away. In the heart of the former Fort Screven, this 3-bedroom cottage was built in 1920 by the US Army to house non-commissioned officers. Just a block away is Battery Garland and the Fort Screven museum. This is the islands quiet, secluded north end preferred by celebrities.
The original clawfoot bathtub and the original enamel kitchen sink/cabinet have been restored. Most of the interior walls are original 5-inch wide tongue and groove planks laid horizontally. These were discovered and restored when 1/4-inch paneling was removed. The master bedroom has a queen bed and an en suite bath with double shower. No shower curtain or door needed. Also in the master bedroom, an alcove containing a trundle bed (2 twins). The two other bedrooms both have queen beds.
Tybee Island's North Beach: Great dolphin viewing --- virtually guaranteed on the north end of the island. Dolphin boat tours are always available, but sitting on the north beach is just as effective. We once watched a band of dolphins frolicking with a delighted kayaker. Tybee's beaches are equipped with porch swings that seem to be about 100 yards apart. From the north beach swings you can watch the sun set over Savannah and the mouth of the Savannah river --- incredible sunsets. Savannah, being 15 miles away, is too far away to actually see but you can see the fireworks on July 4th and New Year's Eve. Shrimp boats with their nets spread like wings are always in view.
The 2 Lighthouses: Two lighthouses less than 3 miles apart but so radically different in character. As you approach Tybee Island, you see the impressive Tybee Lighthouse in the distance. Tall, dark, and handsome with a white cumberbund. He was honored a few years ago when he got his own US postage stamp ( In lighthouse circles that is akin to an Oscar). But then as you cross the Lazaretto bridge onto Tybee Island, you look down to the left and blink. Is that a lighthouse in the water? Indeed it is. That's plucky little Cockspur Lighthouse. Weathered, plain white masonry. Not flashy at all, except ... At every high tide Cockspur stands in the ocean well off-shore. Only at low tide does the stony spur appear that supports the little lighthouse. A firm foundation after all.
Lost in the 40's/50's: So far the quaint shopping district near Tybee's pier has pretty much escaped the wrecking ball. As for shopping, no Sak's here. We're talking beach shopping: T-shirts, souvenirs, Sno-Cones, umbrella drinks, seafood. But remember, for culture and serious shopping, there is colorful, historic Savannah, just 20 minutes away. The property is definitely an old cottage and had most everything needed. The outdoor porch with the seating areas looked extremely inviting in the pictures. Upon arrival we would have had to spend a couple of hours cleaning it up before we could enjoy it. Same said for the beach chairs and wagon. Instead of listing it as two baths it should have said bath and a half. The tub is being remodeled and has make shift curtains around it. We did not use it. It is in a quiet area with limited parking at site. Beds are soft. Not bad but we would. It chose this again.

The house is super cute and the check in and out process was very easy. We really enjoyed the quiet of the neighborhood and its proximity to the lighthouse and the beach. This is a great place to stay and we will definitely use it again next time we go to Tybee. The rate is great and the fees are very reasonable.

This is our second time staying at this cottage… it is clean and convenient to the beach … it has plenty of room and supplies for our needs… it was just the three of us but has room for more friends or family… love the quiet compared to south beach where it can be busier. Simple clean beach cottage… we will be back a third time again

We enjoyed our stay there. It was nice. The back deck area is a wonderful place. The only suggestion I would have is to make sure you bring bug spray.

All was good with our stay, with only one minor issue that we could not get the TV to turn on in the living area! good location, all bedrooms on one floor and queen size beds in all three bedrooms!

The house was nice. Loved the history there. Nicely stocked. Great location.
Loved that it was pet friendly.
The only thing I didn't like was that you can't bring your pets onto the beach. Nothing to do with house but I wish I would of known that the beaches there aren't pet friendly.
I can understand certain times of the day for pets not to be on the beach but totally banning them is just crazy to me.
Thanks for letting me enjoy your cute little home.

Lighthouse Cottage is a piece of Tybee Island’s history that has been preserved and improved to enhance your stay. It is tucked into the perfect location for walking to the beach, the park, and restaurants. While the cottage is conveniently located, it still manages to provide guests with a calm and peaceful environment.

Extremely cute property that is central in location at north beach. Steps away from north beach grill and ocean. We will definitely try to stay here again. Pet friendly!

We very much enjoyed our stay on Tybee Island in this beautiful cottage. Everything was so clean, well maintained and beautifully decorated. The beds were very comfortable. My husband and I shared the master bedroom, my mother and 18 year old son each had their own room, and my 22 year old daughter slept comfortably on the daybed in the master bedroom. The cottage is very close to the North Beach grill and the ocean. We stayed during the Christmas season and enjoyed all of the lights in the neighborhood and throughout the island. We appreciate the host allowing us to stay at this adorable cottage. We would love to stay here again.

We loved the property. Nice fenced in backyard for the pups. The hosts thought of every amenity so we basically brought in food and essentials. Great part of the island to take the dogs for a walk. We even had a neighborhood rooster who announced the start of each day. We will definitely stay there again.

This place is perfect. The location is great. Such a unique neighborhood. Very close to the lighthouse and the beach. Cute park not far for dog walks. The house is also fully stocked. Even the towels and sheets are nice! I always bring my own and didn't use them. Absolutely loved our stay! Thanks for sharing your home and can't wait to come back.

Although Hurricane Idalia changed most of our plans, it was still a nice trip. Ted was very responsive to the couple of concerns we had which was appreciated. It would have been nice to have a doormat on the interior of the house especially with all the rain. The only concern my group had was that the floors could have used a better cleaning as our socks were quite dirty from walking on them. Overall, it was a nice time.

We enjoyed our overnight stay with comfy quilts and cozy nooks. The area was safe for families and small children. There’s a nearby coffee stop with a unique vibe and local fair that is refreshing and fresh ingredients. We visited the light station and the pier. It’s a nice quaint area and a perfect stopover for our long drive to Florida.
