The money i paid is not worth for this hotel.

It was clean, and good staff.

There was so much construction noise coming from outside all the time.

Rooftop bar and food quality

The hotel is run down and dirty. I was utterly disgusted by the room, which was cramped, smelly and dirty. There was black mold on the walls (see photo) and sheets were dirty and obviously slept in. I checked out early because I could not bear another day.

Stay for the Rooftop Flex

The rooftop restaurant and bar was a huge plus, especially since breakfast is on the roof. The rooms are nicely setup with balconies. Beds are comfy enough and the staff is really helpful and attentive. Very hot water when you can get it during your shower. Bonus is the luggage storage that truly helped us with our Ethiopian travels!

The rooms lack attention to cleaning details. We had to have them come clean the room again especially the floors. Hot water is limited. Hot but when I needed it for my shower it was barely warm. They charge for the first bottles of water. Lots of construction going on at the moment on that street including across the street. And, across the street from the hotel is a small shanty village with dogs barking. No Aircon or fan to circulate the air.

Good view, good food and entertainment options available but improve restaurant customer service ce

Location and view of Addis was beautiful and we'll worth it. Breakfast was good but maybe some more meat options besides eggs would be good. Yousef and MB (cocktail mixer) were great and made my stay enjoyable. The food at 360 restaurant is okay, I highly recommend the Nile Perch and the green salad.

The restaurant customer service experience is my biggest area of improvement and was were I was most unhappy whsilt staying at Monarch. For such a hotel with international and business clientale there is not excuse. Whilst Yousef and MB were helpful and the front of desk team - excellent, overall I do think the restaurant service team need a retrain on good customer service. For example, on two occasions I requested to sign for my bill and the same female server gave me a cash invoice and on the first occasion she told me it wasn't possible. On the second occasion, she said if I wasn't able to pay by cash then it won't be possible. At times, you have to call someone over to get the menu after being sitted for over 20mins, not good. I found that when some of the team bring you over your food they are quick to leave your table and don't come to check how your meal is. Aside from that, rooms are comfortable but could do with a refresh. Complimentary water and free airport shuttle is good.

very poor noise insulation from street and from top floor roof restaurant. expect music in your room every night of the week until 1AM on floor 12/11/10.

Good value hotel in Addis Ababa

great location for walking to the mercado and other sights. Facilities were good too - didn’t use the pool, but the gym was functional (albeit very dusty!) and the rooftop bar/restaurant was great!

Staff were quite rude and disorganised with arranging my airport shuttle despite me confirming the time several times before I was due to leave.

Exceptional

Everything else was perfect, there's a bar with live music, the food was great and the staff was super friendly. I would definetely come back and recommend

The pool was dirty and we couldn't use it. The sauna was very small and the door didn't close properly so the heat wasn't staying inside.
