This time in Rosendal - we wanted to have dinner at Gjøa, taxi was unavailable, so the Reception team organized for one of them to take us over. Such a service minded team!!!!!

Breakfast was ok, but not much variety. Beautiful location, nice view from our room.
The property advertises they have a restaurant. Since we were not sure of our arrival, I phoned ahead while we were traveling midday to ask how long the restaurant was open. They stated the last order could be placed at 9:45pm. We arrived around 6:30 and, out of curiosity, inquired whether a reservation was necessary for the restaurant. The desk clerk said she could make a reservation but that nothing was available until 9. Then she said if we got there by 7 we could be served. I thought this was strange as the hotel was not particularly crowded. (It turned out that they had had a last minute reservation by a group of 100 people and therefore blocked any others from eating for 2 hours.) We agreed with the desk clerk to take the 7 pm reservation, even though it was a rush to get settled and to the restaurant, and saw her type some things into the computer. We certainly did not want to wait til 9 when we were tired and hungry. We presented ourselves at the restaurant at 6:58pm and were told there was no reservation and they could not serve us. The hostess was not very nice to us. We had driven a very long distance from Bergen and were looking forward to taking it easy at the hotel. I chose this hotel, even though it was pricey so that we would have a comfortable stay and enjoy the property and vistas even though we were there for just one night. We spoke to the front desk that evening and the next morning. Although they were apologetic, only a small compensation of 200NOK was offered. We did call ahead and no one told us there were limitations on the restaurant seating. We were given a reservation that then turned out to have been canceled - no one would admit how that happened. The restaurant was empty and the group was not going to be seated til 8. They could have served two people. We ended up going to a restaurant in town where we had an excellent dinner, but never had a chance to enjoy the hotel surroundings we paid for, which soured our experience.

Service close to Zero.

Rosendal is a beautiful place with beautiful people, and hotel bears and old charm. Staff is very friendly and rooms are clean.
We went there off season, so the place was bare and empty and breakfast wasn't what we were used to. But I don't think it's comparable to travelling in season.

Dinner and breakfast was nice,
We came in an electric car. There were few chargers awailable.

Perfect location, directly at the Fjord, the view from the room
The restaurant serves no a la carte but preconfigured dinners (I think it was two). The fish dinner was basically the same every day, only slight variation, no proper wine glasses

Fjord view was beautiful
Dinner was very good
Tired looking, dated rooms and
common areas with 70s color scheme.
Overdue for a refresh.
The party in the room below kept us up
most of the night😡

Amazing location and delicious food. Great staff.
Tiny bathrooms.

Location just on the water's edge is the main asset of the place. Rooms are quite spacious for Norwegian standards but otherwise don't really live up to the price tag
Dinner service was painfully slow, crew was understaffed and not really up to the task. You wouldn't want to wait over an hour for the main course to arrive even with the glorious water views the restaurant offers. Rooms are ok but you might expect a bit more at this price level

Beautifully situated on the water, upgrade for room with balcony and fjord view, very friendly staff
Hotel presentation on Booking partly shows renovated parts of hotel and is not representative, seems that generally over the years maintenance und renovation have been neglected, bath tub shower with shower curtain, sealings against wall defective, strong musty odor in bathroom, room and bathroom facilities more than outdated, partly defective; except the fjord the village itself has not much to offer and appears run down

The location and access to both hikes and convenience stores. The staff.
I booked with enough time in advance and I was hoping a nicer view to the lake but I didn't.
Some of the tables -with the best view- were not available available during my stay. Limited sitting options.

1. Fantastic location. Set on the waterside with spectacular views.
2. Good selection and quality of breakfast options.
3. A la carte menu offers a range of options at reasonable price.. Excellent food.
4. Pleasant Swedish waitress offered good service despite being over-worked.
1. Short-staffed in the restaurant over the Easter period. Even though only a set menu was offered, with no choice for starter & dessert and only 2 options for main course, it took almost half an hour for our starter to be served and we waited over an hour for our main course. The following evening the restaurant was not so busy but still a longer wait than would have been reasonably expected. Price for the set meal was expensive.
2. Given the hotel cost, would expect a kettle and tea/coffee to be provided.
3. The lift was out of order, so had to carry our luggage up the stairs to 2nd floor.
4. Young receptionist requires more training. For example, if guests were asked at check-in whether they wish to book for dinner, that would allow the restaurant to know beforehand how many staff to put on. It is also be good hospitality practice for guests to be asked how they enjoyed their stay when checking out.

We didn,t like waiting one hour for dinner. (Lack of staff!)
