About this apartment rental
Enjoy a holiday in St. Jean-Cap Ferrat, the idyllic peninsular stretching out into the sparkling blue Mediterranean between Nice and Monaco ... a famous destination since the days of the 'Belle Epoque' in the 1890's. Our courtyard garden apartment is in a provençal building on the yacht harbour, next to the village church and campanile: the favourite scene of quayside artists. Reflecting its position on the harbour (and the owners' passion for sailing!) the sunny apartment has been redecorated in a Mediterranean nautical style, with terracotta floors and blue & white fabrics. You can relax in the shade of the lemon trees in the tranquil courtyard garden, or step outside the front door into the lively bustle of the yacht harbour, and stroll 5 minutes to the village baker to pick up warm croissants for breakfast. Local attractions include four sheltered beach coves within 10 minutes walk, harbour side restaurants, and the former home of the Baroness de Rothschild.
History: Fishing village to charming small resort: Originally a small fishing community, St. Jean - Cap Ferrat has been famous since the 'Belle Epoque' in the 1890's, when King Leopold II of Belgium and Baroness Ephrussi de Rothschild built holiday mansions here. In the century since, famous writers and actors such as Somerset Maugham and David Niven made their homes here, and today the Grand Marnier family and Andrew Lloyd Weber own homes on the peninsular.
Having managed to escape the excesses of the 1960's building craze, the entire peninsular is now under preservation order, with beautiful villas set in lush gardens, some of which can be glimpsed from the coastal path. The village itself curves around the harbour, and has retained its provençal charm: house façades in warm terracotta and ochre shades with wooden shutters.
The main street and sunny village square overlooking the yachts has a bakery, butcher and small supermarket, as well cafés, restaurants, stylish boutiques and real estate agents, selling slices of paradise!
Local activities: sports, sightseeing & nightlife : Sports:
Beaches: 4 small coves, sheltered by cliffs and Mediterranean pines, within 5 minutes walk of the apartment. Water sports: learn sailing and scuba diving, hire a 'pointu' (traditional wooden fishing boat). Walking: enjoy the magnificent views along the coastal path all around the peninsular, passing the mediaeval chapel of St. Hospice and the lighthouse. Sightseeing: Ephrussi de Rothschild mansion: 'Belle Epoque' architecture, themed gardens and salon de the with water views. Villa Kerylos: archaeologist's 1890 recreation of a waterside Greek nobleman's villa. Mediaeval citadelle, harbour and Old Town of Villefranche: former naval garrison of the Kings of Savoy and Sardinia. Nightlife: Quayside piano bars and restaurants. Summer concert series in the chapel of St. Hospice, Rothschild mansion and the Grand Hotel du Cap. Venetian Nights: costume parade, music and fireworks.
Excursions & day trips: Regular bus connections from St. Jean, and the scenic waterside train line from nearby Beaulieu offer many attractive day outings, without the need for a car:
Nice: Stroll along the waterfront Promenade des Anglais, or through the narrow lanes of the mediaeval Old Town, with its art galleries, restaurants and flower market. Visit the famous Chagall and Matisse galleries.
Monaco: Watch the Changing of the Guard, and visit the State Apartments of the Grimaldi Palace. Try your luck at the Monte Carlo casino, or celebrity spotting while enjoying a cocktail at the Art Nouveau Café de Paris. Window shop for luxury fashion items: enter if you dare!
Cannes: Stroll along the Croisette Esplanade, and past the Palais des Congrès, home of the famous Film Festival. Enjoy a delicious lunch in the stepped streets of the mediaeval quarter of Le Suquet. Catch a boat out to the beautiful Lerins Islands.
Hinterland: Explore some of the charming perched and walled villages, such as nearby Eze.

This area is so incredible and you are in the perfect spot at this apartment! The hosts were so accommodating and responsive. Wish I could have just one more day to wake up, get a pastry right up the street and walk to the beach! Hope to be back in the future!

A lovely garden flat in a block mere steps from the port. Everything you need is on your doorstep and you can head anywhere around St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat on foot. A regular bus service links you directly, or via change of bus or to train, to neighbouring villages and the Riviera beyond.
The flat itself is very well equipped and comfortable and the hosts, along with the concierge, are very friendly, helpful and responsive.

My wife and I recently spent ten days at this beautiful apartment in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, located across the street from a picturesque little harbor on the Mediterranean Sea. Over the past 20+ years of traveling around Europe, we have stayed in dozens of vacation rentals, but this apartment easily qualifies as la crème de la crème.
The apartment is immaculate, nicely furnished, comfortable, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. My wife was most impressed with the kitchen, which is so well-equipped and neatly arranged that it made her jealous! The icing on the cake is the gorgeous green space in the back yard, a large patio with table and chairs encircled by plants and flowers that create a “Garden of Eden”-like ambience; a very relaxing, private and serene little oasis just outside the back door.
We were also impressed with the resident concierge, whose thoughtfulness and kindness helped to make our stay a memorable one. In addition, communications sent to and responses by the owners via email were always timely and much appreciated.
There are no negatives about this apartment. Our only regrets are that we did not book a longer stay, and that we cannot spend the rest of our days in this little corner of paradise!

This is a great quiet property a stones throw from everything. You have a 5 to 7 min walk to three beaches, a minute to bakery and a minute to all of the port restaurants and boats. They thought of everything you need from toilet paper to laundry soap to Saran wrap. The little yard is gorgeous and lush . The manager was absolutely fantastic - he helped me many times over the few weeks I stayed. I will stay again! The only drawback I had was the pump noise in the bedroom - maybe some soundproofing in that corner. It was clean and quiet. Merci.

The property is ideally located in St Jean within walking distance of all day-to-day amenities and excellent beaches. We bought a weekly bus pass for €15 which took as all round the local area and with connections to Cannes, Monaco etc with an efficient and regular service. We liked the beaches at Passable and Villefranche each, both walkable but if we felt lazy we used the no. 15 bus for the uphill part. The journey from the airport to the property has become easier with the new tram line into Nice and then the no. 15 bus into St Jean, also covered by the bus pass which we bought at the airport.
We had a great week and have booked to go back next year. Both Graham and the warden Jean-Pierre were extremely helpful and welcoming.

Wonderful apartment, fabulous location.
Located literally on the waterfront of St Jean Cap Ferrat, the rear apartment is fabulous. The apartment is quiet and ideal for a couple or a small family. Our family of four managed with our daughters sleeping on foldaway beds. The apartment is very well furnished, bright, clean throughout and has a wonderful exterior courtyard. Our stay was during peak Summer, so we appreciated the respite provided by the small leafy, outdoor area where we ate all our meals. If considering staying in Ville Le Franche, Nice, Beaulieu St Mer or St Jean Cap Ferrat, we would definitely recommend St Jean Cap Ferrat. There are three or four small swimming beaches within a 5 - 10 minute walk, as well as beautiful coastal walk ways that lead directly to the other small towns. St Jean Cap Ferrat nestles beautifully in the French Riviera, is vibrant but also relatively relaxed, without too much pretence. A wonderful Boulangerie and Supermarket are within a minute or two from the apartment, along with many restaurants. If you are able to lure yourselves away from the lovely swimming bays, there are many things to do outside of the village including visiting the many historic hilltop towns close by. We found Graham and Andrea very helpful with the friendly exchange of many, many emails prior to our arrival. Graham also responded quickly and efficiently to our on-site queries. Magnifique!

Idyllic Apartment
Graham (owner) was the perfect host. Prior to our arrival, I emailed him on numerous occasions and Graham replied promptly each time.
The apartment is ideal for life in St Jean, being located 5 mins from the Casino supermarket, 5 mins from the No. 81 bus stop (which goes to Nice via Beaulieu & Villefranche), 15 metres from the wonderful Bar du Port café / restaurant and within easy walking distance of 4 beaches.
The one thing we really loved about the apartment is that it is well stocked with the basics – tea, coffee, oil etc and also lots of books to browse through.
We (family of three) will definitely be heading back here next year and highly recommend it.

A lovely home away from home.
A lovely home away from home. We so appreciated the hospitality of the owners, Andrea and Graham. Everything was as described or better. The property is beautifully cared for and spotlessly clean. We loved enjoying breakfast or lunch in the garden. Shops, restaurants, cafe's and beaches are all close by. The perfect place to unwind and forget your cares.

HAPPY HOLIDAY
Over more than five years my wife and I regularly spent our holidays at St. Jean Cap Ferrat, staying in Andrea and Graham Facey’s apartment. Sometimes there were only two of us, and sometimes we took our granddaughters there. Our adherence to this beautiful apartment is motivated by the hospitality of the owners, by the excellent equipment of the flat and its unbelievable location. The small garden, furnished with a large table, is very convenient for having breakfast, lunch and dinner as well. This is an absolutely noiseless place. Every service e.g. bakery, shops, bars, restaurants and the beach is at hand. We have decided to relax at this place in future years.

The perfect location for a perfect holiday!
Having stayed here previously for a couple of weeks, we returned this year for a four week stay. The location is ideal; in the centre of the village and right on the port. The description is exactly as advertised. The apartment is modern and well furnished, spotlessly clean and extremely well maintained. You are very much aware that this is the owners home and not simply a holiday let. The owners are always contactable if needed. Parking is close by and safe. I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to family or friends and in fact we are returning for a further four weeks in 2012.
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is ideally located. The village has plenty of restaurants and bars to cater for all tastes and beaches within walking distance. Saint Jean is close to Nice and Monaco and is a good base from which to explore the Cote d'Azure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The apartment is well located, well equipped and the perfect base to be able to explore the very best that the area has to offer.

Great stay
My wife and I (and our 1 year old daughter) stayed at this comfortable apartment for a very enjoyable week in June 09.
We found that the description of the place and the previous reviews were helpful and accurate (with the exception of the photos of the interior of the property which did not do it justice - it was nicer than we expected).
We had a lovely time and highly recommend this apartment. The outdoor private tarrace was excellent to relax in in the evenings, especially with a small child.
Graham and Andrea were the perfect hosts, telling us all that we needed to know, but then leaving us to enjoy our holiday.
The village is beautiful and with the apartment right in the middle by the port, you feel a little like a local. The location (with lovely beaches a short walk away and the train station accessable by a half hour walk along a coastal path) was great, away from the crowds, but right in the middle of things.
Another highlight was the Capitane Cook restaurant. Delicious food, reasonable prices and very welcoming.
All in all, a great trip.

The description was a true reflection of a well situated apartment, off the harbour. It is right in the heart of the village. The apartment was very clean, well equipped and well decorated. There is a secluded small garden which get some sun part of the day. We were met by Graham, who escorted us to the apartment, showed us around and the next day checked that all was ok. We love St Jean Cap Ferrat, there are a wide variety of restaurants, which cater for all tastes and budgets

Little piece of paradise
If you want a quiet relaxing holiday with all the amenities on your doorstep then this is the place for you,we have been coming here for many years and never been disappointed, our daughter and son-in-law came on their honeymoon and fell in love with St Jean Cap Ferrat. The apartment is very well maintained and the owner is very on hand if you have any problems. Fantastic restaurants and beaches nearby. Can't wait to go back this summer!! - Terry & Lee

Delightful Retreat
The apartment is nicely located in a quiet and tranquil setting which is nonetheless within yards of the yacht harbour, shops, delicatessen, bakery, wine seller, restaurants and cafes, in fact everything you need. Clean, comfortable and during the periods we were there, very quiet, the apartment is reasonably well appointed and offers a peaceful retreat from the bustle of the riviera. The courtyard or patio garden is relatively private and adds much more to the apartment than a balcony can offer, but of course the private and secluded nature of the place means there is no view, which is not in any way a drawback. I would suggest this is an ideally a facility for a couple but the gallery offers space for another single sleeping space and at a pinch the sofa bed gives two more. A lift from the street entrance level brings you to garden level and the apartment is actually at ground floor level and thus easily accessible for all.
The owners are extremely helpful and co-operative and St Jean itself is unlike many of the Riviera villages, in that it has retained much of its original French fishing village appeal. Sure, the harbour is full of large expensive yachts and in high summer you cannot move without bumping into a touring Bentley or a lean Maserati complete with Gucci clad beauty, but the place still has original local charm because so many residents have roots going back to a time before such villages became celebrity hideouts.
The beaches around the village are fine, a bit scruffy but open for public use, the walks around the coast are delightful, and a stroll to Beaulieu past David Niven's Villa is well worth while. For markets, good shopping, history and culture, Nice is a few miles drive away, but also accessible by local bus, or by train from Beaulieu.
In summary then, this is a delightful, clean and well presented one bedroomed apartment, with friendly owners who live locally, set in one of the less pretentious ares of the Cote D'Azur with most services and facilities available in easy walking distance. Ideal for those seeking a bit of peice and quiet, particularly at the beginning or end of the season. Have fun.
