Location was great. 8 minute walk to the ferry terminal, 30 minute bus ride to the airport, right next to the shopping street. Plenty of restaurants nearby and Family Mart is right downstairs. You can use their washer and dryer for very cheap, and the car-share program is very convenient and affordable.
We had a private room with two twin beds. The room was tiny. There is no space between two beds and the space between them. The rooms are open and connect on the top so the rooms are not soundproof at all. The walls were only like visual barriers. We could hear people showering, our neighbors talking, and people walking in the hallway.

Very cheap price for a very good location. Got lucky enough to get the room with the hammock
The big hole in the wall over each door is reducing a lot the privacy and lets you easily hear from other rooms

There are two resident cats. They are very cute and friendly. Thelocation is very close and central to the shopping area.
the bed only had a thin blanket. It’s appropriate for summer but one of our nights it was really cold and the blanket wasn’t enough.

Great location and staff were very friendly and chatty. It’s a cool place inside. They have cats and hammocks in the common area/roof which is obviously pretty awesome.
Beds weren’t very uncomfortable but for the money you can’t complain.
The “private rooms” aren’t very private as the walls don’t go all the way up. Meaning you can hear anything and everything inside the hostel. We were also unlucky that all the other guests did not respect the rules and were very loud running up and down the hostel in the early hours of the morning. Sad to say I did not get any good nights sleep here. No fault of the hostel though.

Inexpensive crash pod: basically you get a capsule with high ceilings. Location is close to everything in town.

Really good place to stay if you're backpacking or budget travelling, the room I had had an amazing view with a window you could open, it was great! The cat's in the lounge are also very friendly, as is the staff, who were very nice and fun to talk to. Very cozy, and the location is very close to the port so it's convenient if you plan on taking lots of ferries around.
Watch your head if you're a touch on the taller side! I found myself bumping into the doorway a couple times, so I would be careful there. The facilities also felt a little unclean, but not to any extreme extent. Overall still very nice.

Nice staff
Thin wall... people are not observing the rules and making noise at night

2 friendly cats!
Great location, close to downtown and the port. Friendly staff, some small amenities (some free, some to rent/pay!) but well equipped!
2nd floor hallway wasn't air conditioned - but everywhere else (all of 1st floor and 2nd floor common room) is, so it's not a problem. It was just a little stuffy when going in and out of the common room!
Futon bedding may be a minus for some.

It’s cheap, and located near the ferry port (you will still have to walk for about 10 minutes)
The worst hostel and the worst type of guests I have ever stayed. Maybe the owner should think twice before accepting a whole family of 6+ people in a guest house. I had to QUIT MID-STAY and book another hotel because the experience was so horrible. Out of the 10+ accompdations I’ve stayed in Japan, this place ranks worst. Here’s a breakdown of what was bad :
1. The staffs are gone after 6 PM. No one is working in the hostel at night, so for any questions or emergencies, you have to call the owner yourself. Also, that means no one is available at night to control the noisy guests.
2. As seen in other reviews, the cheap price attracts the worst of the guests possible. When I started my stay? another whole family of 6+ people came to the hostel too. The hostel is very small with just one floor and a few rooms, and they practically acted like they rented the whole place. They would constantly smoke outside with the doors wide open, and all the smoke would come in to the lounge. They used literally ALL the clothes line by the balcony, and no one could dry their clothes. Another group of 2 men came back to the hostel at 3 at night. AT NIGHT. I know because their loud noises of cooking woke me up and I had to check the time.
3. Non-existent walls that actually seem to amplify the noises in the hostel. I am not a light sleeper at all, so even when I read the reviews that the hostel room can’t block noises, I didn’t mind. That was a big mistake. This hostel doesn’t have private rooms as it says on its page. All the rooms have partitions instead that leave a wide opening at the top. That seems to create a sort of a chamber that actually amplifies the noises from other rooms. I could hear the breathing and sighing of the guest right next to my room. And even if you use earplugs, the thumping sound of people walking on the wooden floor in the corridor will vibrate your whole body.
4. Unsanitary.

Price, Super Staff, good and clean facilities, shared area has AC
Spiders, Only Fan in my room, no AC
3.9
it’s near the bus terminal and the public market. perfect location and cheaper compared to staying in a hotel.
recommended for those who plan to spend more time outside, the ac is okay. they provide towels for 100¥ each and can use the laundry area too!
walls are thin ao I can’t recommend this place to light sleepers. also we got a corner room, it was so bright in the morning, would have been nice if they provided curtains. the room has extra rims? for the hammock,i think, my partner is tall, and hit his head several times.

The location is pretty good. It's basically in the center of town and there's a convenience store right across the street. The price of the room was pretty cheap. Checking in was easy and the place was fairly clean. The wifi works.
I don't like to leave negative reviews, but I'm just being honest here. You didn't really have total privacy, because the "room" was more of a cubicle (the walls didn't go all the way up to the ceiling and you could easily be disturbed by lights that were on in adjacent rooms). The place is non-smoking, but someone was definitely smoking and no staff member was around to make the person stop (although I suspect it was actually the staff member who was smoking!). The kitchen is basically useless (old, narrow, and dirty). The building itself is not attractive at all. The interior is rather dark and not very welcoming. Some windows had no curtains. I am not sure why the ratings are as high as they are. I planned to spend two nights there but left after only one night. I am thankful to the place for giving me a refund for the second night even though they technically didn't have to. I would not stay there again unless they get their act together.

location, decor was nice
the rooms were not totally closed (there was space between the walls and the ceiling) so you could hear everything going on in neighboring rooms. the bathroom smelled like urine. there were no towels to dry your hands. the mattresses were very thin and uncomfortable. the window didn’t close all the way and it got quite cold at night with the wind coming through.

roof top terrace was great!
a bit noisy from the town. you ca get free ear plugs.

Lovely cats

Perfect location, cozy, friendly staff, clean
The rooms are not fully insulatrd (sound wise) so it's easy to hear the slightest sounds from other rooms as well as the common area
3.9
Everything is basically provided. It gets the job done for a good price. A solid choice!
Common areas were a little cramped.

The location of the guest house is so good and the wifi is excellent. The staff is friendly, they shown us all what we needed to know in the first day. showers are also clean. A cute cat was in the accommodation for those who like cats.
I was planning to spend 7 nights there but I ended up booking another place at 4:00am of my first night.
the room is so small, It also mentions that the rooms are private but they are NOT, thin walls not reaching the ceiling are between rooms, I could hear everything. Our neighbor woke up at 4am, lit the lights than could reach my room and was noisy, then other guests woke up at 6am and were preparing their suitcases to leave with all the corresponding noises.
As I already suffer from sleeping disorders my night was simply a mere disaster. The wooden structure doesn't help too as every single step of any person becomes noisy. It was also very hot (I went in August), there is a fan in the room but it was not enough and noisy as well.
If you want privacy and you are sensitive with sleeping, it is highly not recommended. If you don't mind sharing your space with others and you can sleep even in such conditions, it can be a good choice for you.

Cheap, good location, basic but clean. Lovely staff!
We were stuck in Ishigaki in a typhoon and all the local shops were closed but the owner drove us to a place that was open so we could stock up on….well, booze basically🤣
No complaints at all. The kitchen is a tad cramped and basic but still useable!

Always good, location, facilities
3.9
Position very close to the city center and the port
Very dirty place. Shared restrooms always full of hair and dirty.
In 4 days they never changed the sheets, cleaned the room or just emptied the trash.
The staff is simply absent and doesn't care about the place.
The worst thing are the rooms, communicating at the top with an open space and you can see the light of the other rooms and hear all the noises.

- the proximity to the ferry terminal
- few streets away from Usagiya
- Family Mart across the guesthouse and a mini mart few blocks away
- THE STAFF ARE SO NICE AND FRIENDLY!!! Yuya is the besstttt!
- Resident cats are so cuteeee!!!
- I love the ambience! Feels so homey!
- maybe just the mosquitos who loved my blood type but that's totally fine.

Very good location, pretty near to the bus terminal and also ferry terminal.
Although there are cats, surprisingly the guest house and the room are really clean and well maintained.
We like the common area at the roof balcony, where we can play with the cats, and also enjoy the evening sunset with nice breeze.
The staff was very friendly, and we were recommended to go for snorkeling at a nice spot where only locals would know.
Overall, it is a nice place to consider the price.
There is only one shower room and one toilet for men, so there might be time where you have to wait.
The room does not have complete wall, so there will be light and noise from other rooms. Although the quiet hour is 11pm-7am, we were unlucky to have guests from other rooms trying to pack at 1am-2am or leave at 4am-5am.
The bed mattress is really thin and we had a bit difficulty to get good sleep with the bed.
3.9
Convenient location and nice open area.
Even though there was a typhoon approaching, we managed to enjoy the common space with other travelers and, of course, the cats!
The rooms are not entirely closed (wall are like partitions), as it seems in the pictures, so the room area can become noisy, besides lacking privacy.
