We have just come back from a wonderful week with my family and was my 17 months old first ever abroad holiday ! Everything was as described and communication with the owners from booking to when we left was effortless ! Main thing was how safe the villa was for a tiny human , meant me and his dad could relax !! Comares is a stunning place to visit aswell … would 100% recommend !

We all really enjoyed our stay. There were 7 adults and 3 children aged 5,4 & 3. The villa was spotlessly clean and well equipped mostly few niggles - there are 8 pool towels and there were 10 of us. Vrbo states plug adaptors are available, but there were none there, so we ended up sharing which was not ideal. It was very difficult to do the expected cleaning before leaving when you have an early flight. The hosts are exceptional and communication was brilliant. Overall it was a fab holiday and I would recommend.

Spacious with four separate bedrooms, nice outdoor areas, nice big pool. The villas location was more remote than we expected but the views were spectacular. The WiFi and the games should be included in the price.
Samantha was easy to get in contact with and the check in process was smooth and easy.
Overall a great place for a week of sun, bath and hanging out with friends and family

Villa is perfect, it has everything including a big pool. Set in the mountains,10 minutes walk to village down the mountain and 30 minutes walk to Comares up the mountain.!
Stunningly peaceful location and great views.
We will come again...👌👌

Samantha, the owner, made our stay very worthwhile and enjoyable. The villa was very clean, fully equipped and with all possibilities for outside dining and drinking a continuous happy hour experience.
The pool clean and with 22 dec C refreshing!
All necessary food and drinks could be bought within an 20 minute drive.
And the view is breath taking.
Thank you Samantha and family!

High up in the Malaga hills is this true delight. Views to die for, a huge pool, outdoor kitchen and the rest..... The owners were super helpful and informative and made the booking process seemless. Without shooting myself in the foot in case we cant get booked back in next year this villa is just amazing and with 2 bars/restaurants within 10 mins walk whats not to like.

If you are looking for relaxing holiday in a very well equipped villa then this is the place to stay. It had everything you could possibly want especially for children. We took our 15 month grandson and he had a great time. It was so secure for him and we never had to worry about the pool or him escaping! Hosts communications were excellent with all the information and directions we needed. Cannot recommend enough.

Would love to stay again.

Previous reviews did not exaggerate how idillic villa Amarilla is. It definitely is a very difficult task to explain in words. Good value for money doesn’t describe it, Brilliant, attentive and caring hosts falls short of a decent description. Do get a 4x4 as the last 15 seconds of your journey do definitely demand it. And Comares, well, it is right out of a south Spanish fairytale, the locals, the food, the scenery…
I am definitely coming back, with friends this time, too greedy to want it all to myself. Too beautiful not to share.

The villa is everything as described and more, Samantha has thought of everything! All you need is yourself and clothes.
A car for exploring is definitely recommended (the road up to the villa is just a while other experience in its self)
I wouldnt hesitate to book again

The villa was amazing and Samantha and Frederick were very helpful. They set up the stair gates ready for our arrival. The whole villa is very child friendly, with a gate to the pool and gate to the little shaded play area. They even had a little cupboard with toys for my 2 and 4 year old boys to play with. It was super clean and tidy when we arrived. And we loved cooking in the outdoor kitchen. It was also super quiet in the mountains and the view was spectacular.
Such a great first family holiday 😍 thank you.

I could not believe how well equipped for children this cottage was. It just had everything you needed and made packing so much easier as we barely needed to take anything! The outside area was just incredible and it was nice to be able to just let the kids play outside and relax knowing they were safe. The communication from the hosts was brilliant nothing was too much trouble. The only thing I would say was that it was a bit more remote than we were expecting, perfect for a complete break from people though. The weather sadly wasn't that kind to us at first (great place for watching thunderstorms though) which meant we couldn't just let the kids roam outside and play and we had to leave the villa to find things to keep them entertained and most places for kids are on average an hour or more drive away down very windy mountain roads. So a lot of time was spent in the car for us although our kids sleep as soon as we go in the car so not a huge issue. But worth knowing if you are wanting to go off places rather than stay at the villa for the whole week. Also do not use Google maps when driving it sends you down some awful 'roads', I would recommend using Waze app. Must better routes provided and more accurate! All in all a very relaxing holiday and thank you so much Samantha and Fred.

It's a nice house with a fantastic mountain view.
Many facilities available. The childrens toys are however at the end of their life and everything was very dirty which leaves you with the choice of starting to clean everything during your holidays or avoid using them, others are simply ready for the trash. There is a small community playground 2 km's away which did make up for this.
Biggest challenge was getting anywhere, with a very small kid an hour drive is the maximum and most interesting locations to visit are a 2 hours drive away... Also as you are in a mountain area travelling speed is very low, we had the bad luck that some of us became easily car sick so we were restricted to driving 25KM/H until we were somewhat out of the mountains. Pool looks great but unheated is not usueable in autumn. Pool table, table tennis, internet is all at extra charge. Kitchen is very dark but the outdoor kitchen was a nice extra. The dining table outdoor was cold to sit in the evening as there was always wind.

We had a fantastic stay. The villa was spotlessly clean on arrival; the facilities were amazing, especially for our 3 year old and the pool and views were stunning. Definitely need a car.

The outside space was incredible, the villa was clean and comfortable. The local village of Comares is well worth a visit. It's the only place we went because everyone had everything they needed or wanted at the villa. Thankyou to Samantha and Frederick.

It's always really hard picking a destination for a family holiday but from the outset, this property looked and felt special.
As a family of four (two children 12 and 10) we were very excited to arrive at the villa. Samantha's correspondence the week before and up to the point of checking in, couldn't have been any more informative or helpful; always a huge bonus when you're putting your trust in someone ultimately to provide a family holiday experience.
The property was so much more than we could have asked for. It was clean, spacious, thought-out and the complimenting outdoor areas were the cherry on top.
The outdoor kitchen area with gas-plancha provided the ultimate culinary experience for my husband who loved cooking both breakfast and evening meals on it for the family.
The outdoor bar area and seating area allowed us to feel like we were in a fun family restaurant but without the crowds or the wait for the drinks and great food to keep coming!
Meanwhile the two covered areas (ground and first-floor level) provided calmer, covered spaces for time out of the sun in the mid-day heat or for adult drinks within ear shot of the kids settling down for the night.
Even though we were a family of four, the space felt perfect and comfortable for us to enjoy and there is no doubt a larger group/family staying here would feel as comfortable.
Every part of this property/holiday destination has been well considered and it made our holiday so much more relaxed and enjoyable as a result.
The outdoor shower was a lovely bonus as was the outdoor laundry space/toilet (what parent/adult doesn't love a 14 minute washing setting so you can wash towels and swimming costumes and have them dry within half an hour in the hot Spanish sun, ready to go again?!).
The seating areas, play areas (for smaller children ) and garden space were all maintained and allowed for our children to safely go and have 'time out' without us worrying about their safety, such was the layout, gates and tasteful security/design of the property's garden/exterior (again, key for any parent and their peace of mind).
The bedrooms and bathroom spaces were all clean and easy to use/settle into; the kitchen had everything with great utensils for dining in and out and the living/dining space allowed for comfortable and 'homely' downtime in the evening.
Family holiday homes like Villa Amarilla are rare but incredibly special and as such we have already booked again for next year!

Villa Amarilla near Comares
Property was stunning , location perfect , everything you could ever need was available. Stunning views , large pool , outdoor Barbeque and Bar/Diner. Perfect quiet for just lazing at the pool but not far from Malaga etc if you wanted to go out for the day.

If you want to get away from it all and still be able to walk toa few bars this is the place - stunnign views and all you need to wind down and relax.

Beautiful location and great villa with all you need for great holidays! Great for children.
Our stay at the villa was amazin, children very happy as a lot to do for them - shady areas, swimming pool, toys and games! Absolutely beautiful mountain view 360 degrees.
Swimming pool not heated but still very nice refreshing water in hot days. We have paid for pool and tennis table, used pool table but tennis table not really recommended as not in good condition and location. The biggest disappointment for the BBQ, we love to have BBQ on holidays but this one was very small, charcoal and dirty, needed to purchase special trays to put on top and used it only once. Apart from that all was great!

Just perfect!
We had the best time, just a short trip but would have stayed longer!
Clean, comfortable and spacious - it’s a great villa.
Communication was really good and John was very helpful.

Wonderful villa with amazing views!
We stayed here for 2 weeks with 5 adults and 2 children (2 year old and 4 month old). The villa is in a lovely peaceful setting with amazing views over the surrounding mountains. The best part for us was all the child friendly features, activities and toys provided which kept our 2 year old safe and entertained.
Samantha’s communication before the holiday was great and John the greeter was very helpful and friendly. It is quite a remote location (which we loved)?however not too far away from Comares to get to the local shop and a few bars and restaurants within walking distance. We would definitely recommend this villa and would love to return in the future! Thanks

Possibly our best ever holiday. All the family together it couldn’t get and better.
Fantastic villa up in the hills. Everything was absolutely brilliant. Great pool, beautiful surroundings, if you want a quiet peaceful get away then you won’t beat this villa. bedrooms get quite hot apart from the one with full air conditioning, the other upstairs bed room just have ceiling fans but even so not too bad. The living room and kitchen downstairs has full air con. Kitchen is well stocked with pot, pans plates and glasses and with a massive fridge. Outside the pool is great with plenty of sun beds but no umbrellas.
I highly recommend this VIlla and would return in a heartbeat

Great family holiday.
We rented this property for a family week away for 9 of us - 7 adults and 2 children. Correspondence with Samantha prior to our arrival was always prompt and very helpful. Directions were spot on. We stopped at El Ingenio shopping centre on the way to stock up on groceries. Last part of journey was very scenic and glad we did it in daylight not only to appreciate the views but also to negotiate the steep windy road! Nowhere near as bad though as some other reviews have suggested. The road down to the villa could certainly do with improving as surface is very uneven with deep potholes. Driveway is fine just quite a tight bend. We had 2 cars and managed no problem at all. Villa was extremely clean on arrival and certainly had the wow factor. Views are amazing and grounds are very well kept with lots of different areas to relax. Plenty of toys for children and very safe for them with pool area and play area fenced off. Sun beds weren’t the most comfortable and a couple of them had broken slats and recliners. We improvised however with towels and cushions! BBQ and bar area is fab as is the outside lighting. Loved the balcony from the master bedroom. Great for watching the sun rise with a coffee and for cooling off in the evening as most nights there was a very welcoming slight breeze. Indoors all facilities are of high standard. Plenty communal space and a well equipped kitchen. Only downside internally is the lack of air conditioning in 3 of the 4 bedrooms. Master was perfect but the other 3 rooms were hot at night despite following all the recommendations. The local bar/restaurant El Molino is great value for money and only a short walk away. We drove to Comares every morning for fresh bread and to stock up on food and drink. Shop is like an Aladdin’s cave and excellent quality. We walked to Comares a couple of nights for dinner. Took about 25 mins and there was no guilt about eating pudding! We had a fabulous break and thoroughly recommend this villa to families who want to get away from the hussle, bussle of busy resorts.

Loved it !!!
From the moment the booking was taken , Samantha (owner) could not have been more helpful or responsive ! No question or query was too trivial and she went out of her way to provide us with local taxi numbers and additional info . On arrival , we were met by John the greeter who again, was super friendly and helpful . The villa was beautiful - bigger and better than the photos portray and the view was to die for ! It was also spotlessly clean .... I can genuinely say there are no faults with this villa . If you like rural locations that are not touristy at all , then this is a must ! I was one of a party of five and we all fell in love with Comares .... one supermarket (small) one tobacconist and a restaurant and a couple of pubs and that’s it ! The friendliest people .... the supermarket staff phoned taxis for us and then pushed our trollies out the back for us so we could be picked up as well ! We walked to Comares from the villa one day and it did take around 20 minutes , but definitely didn’t take as long as we were expecting . I would recommend this villa to all - you seriously will not be disappointed and I would not hesitate to rebook !!!

Outstanding villa in a beautiful mountain location
The villa was well equipped for our group of 7 adults and a toddler. Safety gates in all the important places. Outstanding location for a peaceful holiday, quite remote however of you are after something more lively, there were couple of restaurants in short driving distance. Excellent pool with outstanding views. Organisation and communication with the owner Samantha was very straightforward and always prompt. Highly recommended for a family holiday

The view at this villa is absolutely breathtaking and an experience alone which is worth every penny
Samantha is a great host. It was easy to contact her with any queries before the trip and then John during the trip. The villa has folders with many tips and tricks with regards to day trips and areas surrounding the villa. The drive to the villa is quite a bendy drive from Malaga however if you plan to stay in the villa then this is not an issue at all! The villa itself is beautiful it has all the final touches and the most breath taking views that you could sit and look at all day. Games and the swimming pool are enough to keep the whole family entertained it was just an absolutely beautiful experience and would recommend to all!!!

Beautiful
The villa is beautiful and clean. Felt at home straight away. The drive there was a little scary for someone with vertigo but the views for the rest of the family was amazing. Loved our stay. Having the pool table is well worth it as we had couple days of rain. Kids loved it and so did the adults. We wanted a relaxing family break away from everything and that’s exactly what we got. The table tennis and the pool table kept the kids from getting bored when adults wanted an hour to chill. Would definitely stay there again

beautiful location great clean villa lots great for kids
5 friends and I stayed here for my friends birthday it was perfect. Middle of nowhere so quiet but close shops etc if did need to pop out. definitely recommend the restaurant about a 10 minute walk up to comares on the rIghtfield lovely big portions. Samantha is lovely and extremely prompt when dealing with emails transactions etc. Our greeter John was very helpful even when we managed to get lost at 2 am. There's loads of stuff for kids toys blankets etc and adults with the bar games tables and pool. Everything was very clean and the cupboards well stocked with plates glasses etc. if you want a place that's quiet and chilled villa amarilla is the place for you. loved our stay thank you very much

Very well managed villa and a peaceful setting
Very well managed villa and a peaceful setting.
Thank you to John the greeter, he was very helpful.
The owner Samantha is also very helpful and replies quickly to any queries.
Everything was perfect, pool spotlessly clean including the surrounding areas plus loads of shade.
Kitchen was ok everything you needed big fridge, big cooker, big bin.
Large barbecue, you need lighters, charcoal or wood. Large outdoor fridge in that area.
All the bedrooms were fine and airy.
Three bathrooms, all with showers, and wc by the pool.
To be quite honest we could not fault the place.
The drive from the airport was about an hour.
We took the Velez Malaga route and stopped off at Lidl just off the motorway before the turn up the mountain to Comares.
There is also another Lidl after the turn.
Lidl shop is larger than England and you can purchase everything you need wine 1 euro upwards a litre beer 46 cents a litre.
The villa is not far past the sharp turning to Comares so slow down after a mile or you will have to go down to the village and turn round.
The fun starts here, tricky little track for about 100 yards but very easily managed if you drive slow.
The view is stunning and the traffic on the road above the villa is very light.
We were three adults and three noisy children aged 13, 11, 8 and there was enough to do with pool, pool table and ping pong.
The drive down to the water park was twenty minutes and the beach 30 minutes.
You can walk to the little village down the hill 10 minutes where there is a bar/restaurant.
Pint of Cruzcampo on draught 3 euros, food very reasonable, very popular Sunday lunch.
Comares is a short drive with a terrific bakery and a nice bar in the square with food, tapas etc.

Spacious villa,stunning location
Lovely villa in a beautiful location , very well equipped and we especially appreciated the provision made for children...cot, toys, high chair etc. Our party was 6 adults and one toddler and there was plenty of room for all of us .Would certainly stay here again .

Stunning views, relaxing stay
We were a family of 3 adults and 3 children aged 2, 4, and almost 9 years old. The little ones thoroughly enjoyed the garden toys and really appreciated the toddler bike, toy pushchair & baby doll. All the rooms were comfortable, beds amazing. The kitchen was well equipped, BBQ area was great, but would have appreciated some additional equipment to manage the hot coals e.g. tongs / heat proof glove. Wifi was paid for as an 'extra', we had an excellent connection all week - essential for people needing to keep connected to business whilst away. The pool table was also paid for as an added extra. I would recommend that both these are included in the price.
We did not realise we could have requested an initial food package on arrival, despite knowing that the shops would be closed on a Sunday; we arrived too late for the local shops - a food package would have been really helpful. Perhaps more emphasis on this in the communication might help
The information folder indicates that the only cleaning of the villa is to be completed by the leaving guests - excluding linen. Whilst I would never leave a property in an untidy or unclean state, I do think it would be more reassuring that a dedicated cleaner be used to deep clean between guests. We would have appreciated new cloth/scourer for dishes and wiping down the kitchen surfaces, rather than previously used, washed cloths.
A steep, unmade dirt track leads to a concrete in/out drive. Perfectly fine for a regular car. The drive is not suitable for a long vehicle - we arrived in a LWB Ford Transit hi-dome minibus - we drove it down to unpack and took over half an hour to get it back up the track. The rear wheel drive on the vehicle combined with the layout / camber of the concrete drive meant we were struggling with one of the rear wheels spinning.
This is a very comfortable villa with lovely spaces - poolside, BBQ area, bar area, sitting area, outside dining area - all very child friendly - every detail of safety has been considered inside and outside. This makes it easier for an adult to relax knowing that young children are safe.
Communication with Samantha is easy
Highly recommended for families with young children.

Stunning propery
The property is exactly as described, very private all the amenities that you could wish for. Although we didn't have children with us we would have gladly brought the grandchildren as everything was child friendly even down to extra disposable nappies. Lots of seating, sunbathing areas, pool towels were included. John the greeter did all our shopping which we asked for as if you arrive on a Saturday evening all the local supermarkets are closed on a Sunday so you just e-mail a list and if it can be done it will be. The property is immaculately clean and furnished to a very high standard. The beds were the most comfortable we have experienced in all our villa holidays. The place is very quiet with no interruptions but there is a nice eating place called Table Mountain which is a short walk (not to Stressful) the manager is called Bob and he is very helpful and will also give you a lift back to the villa if asked. The communication with Samantha the owner is very good and straight forward. It was 2 birthdays the week we went in our party of 4 and we arrived to 2 birthday cards and a bottle of Cava, which we never expected and was a lovely touch.
All in all a stunning place which we hope to return to very soon.

Beautiful Villa
Beautiful villa set in a stunning location with wonderful mountain views. Villa is modern & well equipped. Great playhouse & kitchen outside for the kids. Brilliant bar & pool table & ping pong.
Only small criticism is the wifi wasn't great & kept dropping out.
Everything else was brilliant including communication with Samantha the owner & Greeter John.

Great stay in a lovely Villa
We had a fantastic time at Villa Amiralla in October, very comfortable with quality equipment, we loved all the outdoor areas and only went inside when it got a bit cooler. The BAr area was great fun and the BBQ area was really good, could have done with a bit more BBQ equipment and somewhere to get rid of the burnt coals with some equipment to do this. As other have said Table Mountain restuarant a short walk away is great and for those willing to walk slightly further then Comares is great. All in all a fantastic holiday and would certainly go back.

Beautiful haven
This is a fantastic property with lots of breathtaking views and plenty to do at the house due to the table tennis, pool and swimming pool. It is quite a trek to get to Comares from Malaga but if you're looking for a place of haven away from it all then there's not many better places!
The only reasons I didn't give it five stars was the fact that there was no welcome pack (even though we were arriving on a Sunday and no shops were open!), there were prices fixed to shelving in the cupboards telling you how much each plate/glass etc would be should you break it and the fact that we were charged for wifi and use of the pool balls. This to mind does not create the right impression to guests. I can say however, that John was very helpful and friendly as our go to guy. We had a great week!
