A very comfortable and well appointed cottage, small but with everything I needed.
The bed was very comfy, the shower excellent and the kitchen very clean and well equipped.
Gilwern itself seemed friendly, fairly quiet in the evening but with a pub and small supermarket within very easy walking distance..There is easy access to the Heads of Valley road making it a great location for exploring the Brecon Beacons.
As a lone traveller, I loved it.
There isn't very much parking within the village except that recommended by the owner, which is free but about 100m away. The locals suggested I should use the on street parking, which I did, relying on their view that restrictions to parking were rarely monitored by traffic wardens. However, I might just have been lucky!

Location, quirkiness. Well equipped.
Needed a deep clean, lots of dust in corners, and some cobwebs.

Goed gelegen. Alle keukenuitrusting die nodig is. Leuk welkomstpakket.
Problemen met internet, vrij klein.

The parking some nights a long way down the road.
Very noisy traffic 6.00am so never sleep to 8.30.

Very comfortable, clean and welcoming.

Location was great, highly recommend Tge Beaufort pub for food and drinks.
Lovely welcome pack.
Great shower, small but well equipped kitchen, comfy bed.
Parking was only available in the village car park as extremely busy directly outside the cottage, especially if The Towpath pub was open. Not a major issue as it was free to park but it was a few mins walk away.
As the weather was so hot while we stayed, it did get very warm in the bedroom, improved greatly with a fan.

We had an amazing holiday in South Wales and absolutely loved this little cottage. It was cosy and comfortable with a great shower. It was also in a lovely wee village with pubs and a shop to hand and right next to a scenic canal walk. I would strongly recommend staying at The Old Stable.
Everything was perfect.

We loved the village location with beautiful walks right from the front door. It was lovely to walk along the canal in the morning. The cottage itself is very small but perfectly organised with enough room for our things. The kitchen had everything we could need. It was cosy and warm too, and quiet at night.
The stair case is windy and slippery in socks - be careful! The floor in the bathroom is a bit wobbly and made us both feel a bit ‘seasick’ occasionally. The outdoor bin we were asked to use was too full
. But these are not problems when everything else is so superb!

Perfect cottage for two people, kitchen well equipped and lots of little details throughout (extra rugs, local tips) making it a really lovely stay. Great location with lots of walks nearby. Very thoughtful welcome basket that included our dog!
It was very cozy upstairs but we were there on a cold weekend (-4 at night) and downstairs needed all layers and heating which had been mentioned but worth noting it winter.

Great location! Perfect for exploring the Brecon Beacons. The welcome hamper was a nice touch and the cottage contained everything needed for a pleasant stay.
The mattress was abit soft making the sleep less comfortable. Also, as it's an old cottage, low beams mean the dwelling is not friendly to those taller-than-average humans! No shower gel or shampoo was provided

This is our favorite place to stay in Wales. Bus is close, church is near as is the butcher and two pubs.
Wish it had a back door to the garden!!! Lol

The gift basket was a lovely touch. Accommodation was clean and fresh. Beautifully designed with lovely small details and touches. Highly recommend but grateful for being short in stature.
Unfortunately we were advised of a shower leak limiting bathroom facilities to ensure least amount of water damage carried out on the property during our visit. For our own preference the bed mattress was too soft.

Lovely position and well appointed for its size.
Bed was a little soft, and if you are over 5ft 8 mind your head!!
We had a leak from the shower which was dealt with but not resolved. But communication excellent.

The property was very clean and very comfortable and we couldn't fault anything.
They catered for everything so we didn't need to take anything.
Thank you very much.
There wasn't anything not to like - beautiful village & perfect little cottage.

Super place to stay, very near the canal walks.
Door was difficult to unlock some days. Towel rail in bathroom would not heat up properly to dry the towels, radiator probably needs bleeding.

Location of parking could be a problem.
