Very simple lodging. The host very kind to take us star gazing and to the beach for a sunset swim

Great to rent the bicycle from the guest house, though I think a little expensive, but it was a fantastic way to get around the island and it’s good to support this island! Very countryside one the centre

The 2 bunk dorm was very narrow, difficult to move, but it was okay for me.

Exceptional

Amazing place. It's a small traditional guest house. I chose a private room and had space and privacy. The staff that welcomed me was incredibly nice and helpful. Taketomi is so far my favorite island of the beautiful Yaeyama. The owner very kindly took us on a little night trip to discover wild life. Other guests are extremely thoughtful so even if the rooms are not sound proofed, I slept very well. I am very thankful and will be back!

Good vibe but not really comfortable.

Very nice owner, good location near the best beach.

The structure is a bit rudimentary, the entrance is small and low (you often bump your head) and quite uncomfortable, outside there is some crazy disorder. The room with 4 beds is really tiny you can't all stand. Luckily the atmosphere is cheerful, otherwise it would be to be avoided.

Very good

Taketomi is a beautiful island I really wanted to visit. No budget options except from this hostel, therefore I booked 3 nights. First day received by the nice staff but unfortunately he left the following day for his home. We had a night walk with him to see fireflies. On the whole the stay was nice. Shower and new toilets nice, washing machine available.

I was in a room with 2 bunk bed, this room makes you feel really claustrophobic, having no space to move. Luckily, I had no room mate and it was not raining, so I was outdoor most of the time. As there are no common space except outside, be aware that if it rains it will be difficult. Not many facilities in the kitchen, you could use only kettle and microwave.

Instant sense of community--people from all over Japan sharing and happy. Very clean and cozy!

The manager was wonderful--excellent introduction/reception, lots of funny and interesting stories about the island, very attentive to guests. The location was excellent and the outside sitting area where everyone shared, talked and played music was delightful

I am happy to stay anywhere and felt very at home and cozy here. Some may have difficulty with the very tiny room--just big enough for the bunk bed and to stand. But since most only come into their room to sleep and there is a lovely outside sitting area, this is not really a problem.

The inside of the house was clean and cold.

The place was divided into rooms, with no real walls (it didn't touch the ceiling or the floor), providing little/no privacy. The rooms were all the same price with totally different sized (ours was more like a hole). The toilet is located outside, in a different building.

Owner is nice

I like the location and how welcoming the owner is. Night time we would go outside and drink Awamori for free which the owner prepared.

It’s not really that I don’t like it but I wish there was toilet inside coz it’s quite scary to go out in the middle of the night.

Exceptional

The guesthouse is in a typical Japanese style house; the rooms are rather small but very comfortable and quiet. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, particularly during the evening when you can enjoy the drinks and sake they offer while leisurely chatting with them and other guests. The guesthouse is located in the village, not far from the shore.

Superb

Host was very friendly & kindly invited me and the other solo travellers staying for dinner in a local restaurant - got a real sense of the community life of living on Taketomi. Thoroughly recommend staying overnight on Taketomi, once all the daytrippers leave, you see the true beauty of the island - and basically have the beach & sunset all to yourself.
