Peaceful
No water in the room

Idyllic peaceful setting with wonderful views. Hotel is lovely and the staff are very helpful. Pool area is perfect for long, lazy days. We booked half board and dinner each evening offered a good selection of dishes.
There is a major problem with their Wi-Fi which the manager acknowledged was a long standing problem. He is just as frustrated but the owners need to fix this problem immediately. People expect and need good quality Wi-Fi. Not enough clothes storage in our bedroom for a couple staying for four nights.

We have been 2 or 3 times before and we are never disappointed. The staff are always exceptionally helpful. The dinner and breakfast were superb. It is a very peaceful place and especially so on this visit as we had the hotel all to ourselves.
I honestly can’t think of anything they could have done better

The breakfast was very good with many choices and the scrambled eggs were superb. I had dinner in the restaurant on one evening and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The whole hotel was warm and welcoming which was very important as the weather was horrendous with torrential rains and fierce winds. The view from my room of low clouds over the mountains was actually really nice because I was snug and warm.
I couldn't work out how the hairdryer worked and called house keeping. Someone came within two minutes to show me the switch I had missed completely. So, really, this 'didn't like' has quickly converted into another 'like'.

excellent value for money including the evening meal. Always a pleasure staying here.
Renovations going on which meant blocked areas and breakfast in the main worship hall!

Beautiful nature and lovely grounds, impressive renovation of a former convent
Short staffed, borderline rude waitresses in the restaurant, strange dinner options on daily menu that were under cooked (had the grilled squid in a weird gray colored sauce on a bed of lettuce).
Our room was also on a half floor with a half window that barely let in light. Highly disappointing as we were looking forward to waking up with a view of the countryside and sunrise, closer to what was depicted in the listing photos of the room class we booked.
Breakfast was served in a former chapel and the space was overly quiet and intimidating despite it almost full of people who were afraid to speak as well. It was an odd experience. The dinner restaurant should be opened for breakfast as it would have been lovely to dine out on the lawn.
There was no coffee or tea in the room and I had to plead with the waitress in the breakfast area to take my coffee out of that area...not great.

We booked a Junior Suite which was lovely. We were in the lovely countryside and by car had easy access to the towns and cities we wanted to visit. We were on half board and the dinner was similar to a la carte and was exceptional.
Work was being carried out and the spa and swimming pool (which would have been cold) was unavailable. We were advised of this before so no problems.

The view
Swimming pool closed because of renovations but we were informed by mail 2 days before arrival.
Would have been nice if any kind of compensation was offered.

Beautifully restored building, very comfortable room, generous dinner and breakfast and really helpful and friendly staff. Excellent value. And near a delightful village.
Only the narrow access road.

The old convent is in a beautiful spot with wide views out over the Sierra and the surrounding countryside. The town of St Martin is 5 minutes walk away, and is an attractive village with many original houses, attractive squares. The countryside around is lovely and perfect for walks through the oak woods up to the Ridge and along the abundant streams. The convent has been fully converted and modernised into a comfortable hotel. Our room was quite small, but perfectly adequate with lovely views, comfortable bed, and good bathroom. The half board option is a very good deal, with breakfast and an interesting 3 course dinner. The restaurant is an airy light room with fully windows looking onto a large terrace and then over the countryside. A great place for a short break. The meals were generally well prepared and good value for money. See below. We liked the fact that the breakfast was served to our table rather than a buffet.. very unusual!
The conversion of the convent wasn´t fully to our taste. We´d have preferred that it retained more of its original features. We didn´t like the loss of the cloister, now converted into a very modern cafe/bar space which is very noisy, rather undermining the beautiful peace of the bulding and site.
THe evening meal was good value, and generally good, with interesting dishes. Unfortunately the secreto main course, was obviously heated up in the microwave, and was still rather cold, and not a good way to serve secreto... but the rest of the dishes were fine.

Staff at reception were pleasant. The ancient building has an elevated postion and is easily recognised from the main road. There were road signs from quite a way out to aid locating it although I didn't notice any on the junction we needed given our route- just had to rely on the sat-nav. The interior contruction is modern , built inside the old walls. However the breakfast room would not look out of place in the Phatom of the Opera - impressive.
Final access is over a steep road contructed of large, round, smooth and uneven stones. Travelling on motorcycles, we could have done without that. Thankfully it was dry. We had pre-booked our evening meal and my husband's was good value. My vegetarian was one of the worst I have ever had. The waitress gave us the menu and immediatley expected us to choose not giving me a chance to consult my phrase book. On explaining I was vegetarian (the hotel had had advance warning) she rattled off the options in Spanish from a scrap of paper and stood there literally tapping her foot impatiently. The buffet breakfast was served with cold coffee

We had a lovely stay in this amazing place!
Location is wonderful, outside the village, in an old renovated convent in the middle of the country side, so quiet and surrounded by nature.
The renovation of the building is amazingly done, mixing the old elements with new materials and style.
Room was not big, but very comfortable.
We had breakfast and lunch and the hotel restaurant is also very good, totally recommended.
I very much enjoyed the tranquility of the surroundings, the beautiful garden and the relaxing swimming pool.
I would for sure come back!
The only con is that the double bed was a bit too small.

Very nice and well designed hotel in a former convent. The room was spacious enough and clean, nice and friendly staff, tasty food (both breakfast and dinner). A good option for accommodation while exploring the area.

The receptionist was excellent. The setting is beautiful.
Food was good but not exceptional.

This is such an amazing place to stay. A great blend of old and new architecture. The food was a super, the staff friendly and helpful in every way. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. We also enjoyed all of the walks in the area, many starting straight from the hotel.
The heating in the room was permenantly on. This is but a minor problem as we just opened a window.
