Non vale le sue stelle

Il personale si è dimostrato molto disponibile ma non sufficientemente formato.

Villa Calandrino non corrisponde ai canoni delle sue stelle. Le stanze sono anguste, senza finestre. Entrando era presente un profumo per ambienti fortissimo per coprire l’odore dello scarico. Molto fastidioso. La colazione può andare ma niente di brillante. La receptionist era volenterosa.

Lovely grounds but far from a 4 star hotel in terms of services offered

The property is beautiful, the pool is big and surrounded by lovely grounds , room spacious and clean

Sadly this perhaps was a 4 star hotel once, but the services offered as of today do not reflect that status . We only stayed one night and , within that night, there was a problem with electricity resulting in no hot water ( problem was solved after 20:00 when my husband and I already left for dinner after a cold shower ) I appreciated the lady owner apologising for it at the moment and that was it. The Wi-Fi also did not work for the entire day of yesterday and was working this morning of our check out . We arrived at 13:30 yesterday and there wasn’t any type of food available at the premises. I am 7 months pregnant and had to head to the supermarket nearby , never happened before in a 4 star hotel . Selection of beauty products in the bathroom were what you expect on a 3 star hotel , at breakfast the yoghurt was warm and fruit juices of cheap quality and only two types. The experience at check out was terrible to say the least. I pointed out the discomforts during our one night stay , after saying that premises and staff were lovely, and the lady owner started shouting at me that I was offending her and her hotel and that she would not take any comments . Childish and immature behaviour to say the least so I left as there was no point to continue the conversation. I want to thank Francesca which was delightful to liaise with but the lady owner needs a reality check and to learn to listen to criticisms to improve her business . To be precise: in 10 years of travelling using booking.con this is the first time I write a review of such tone, so you take the conclusions .

The Villa in itself is nice, however it needs maintenance. It has a pool which was still out of season to use. Lidl is just next door.

The internet was very weak. Breakfast was mostly sweets and limited time ( 8- 9.30am) No restaurant, apparently after Covid, it closed.

The pool and location of the hotel to visit the whereabouts was just right. The parking area was secure and ideal for us.

Lovely, peaceful stay at a charming hotel

Breakfast was great, rooms were big and clean with comfy beds. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was a little out of the way but made for a quiet and relaxing stay. We ended up eating at a great little pizzaria nearby both nights during our stay rather than driving into town.

The grounds were a little tired but I think that is to be expected for the great price, you can’t have everything!

The location is a long way out of town and the photos are misleading. The accommodation is a series of lower ground floor rooms at the back of the house. This doesn’t feel anything like a 5* hotel. It’s more of a guest house with a pool in the overgrown garden. No-one was on duty at reception when we checked in. The only hint of 5* standard is a sumptuously decorated dining room and guest lounge in the main part of the house. As a five star hotel from looking at the photos it would be great value. As a guest house for B&B it just seems expensive
