ultimate rest

It was very nice natural concept vacation. All (almost all) facilities were authentic and hand made, providing local cultural motifs.

Breakfast is weak. Need some more options.

Empfehlenswertes Hotel jedoch etwas abgelegen.

Durch direkter Meerzugang mehr privatsphäre. Gepflegter Anlage, angenehme und ansprechender Bar und Restaurantbereich. Freundliches Personal.

Sauberkeit des Pools. Abgenutzte Liegen (Polster). Durchgelegene Matratze.

Peaceful retreat and great starting point for underwater explorations

Overall we can only recommend Sunshine Marine Lodge. Food was really tasty, especially if you know that their sell it (breakfast and dinner) as a half-board. Staff was friendly and always helpful. They work toghether with Floral-tours agency and organize you all transfers and excursion all over the island. There is also Diving point base on the property. So this is really very good place if you want good snorkeling or diving excursion and make a peacful retreat in a small not crowded hotel...

It is bit heavy to reach the lodge because of the safari like road, but also this could be interesting experience. That is not fault of the hotel, but more Zanzibar style 😀

Sehr gepflegte Anlage direkt am Wasser und mitteln in Jungles!

Ein sehr schönes und gepflegtes Hotel in einer einzigartiger Lage - direkt am Wasser, mitten im Jungles und mit Blick auf Mnemba. Sehr freundliches Personal, excellentes Essen, professionelle Führung. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen bestimmt wieder!

Lovely place

What a lovely place this is! First of all, I wasn't expecting to have a view because I didn't book a sea view room, but I was amazed when I opened the back door! Of course it's not an obstacle-free sea view, but it's still a sea view, and it's worth it! Staff is always friendly and nice, Emmanuel even took me and other guests to a party in Nungwi, which was a nice treat. The room is spacious and comfortable. Loved that they had the ceiling fan, a standing fan, and a little fan in the bed, because the heat in Zanzibar has to be taken seriously!! Bed is comfortable, and the housekeeper make a beautiful arrangement of the sheets - it just looks lovely every time! Loved the "lounge" area inside the room, I used to lay in there for a long time, because even though is made of concrete, it's a very nice corner to spend some time reading. They provide a cute little kettle, tea, coffee, water, and they also have a mini fridge - so, the room is very well equipped on that regard. The shower and sink are inside the room, but the bathroom corner was very well designed and it looks lovely. And I absolutely loved the shower gel and body lotion, the scent is like from heaven!! Outdoors they have a beautiful garden throughout the place, and the pool and restaurant are is just....Wow! You have a view of Mnemba Island, and it's just indescribable! The views are just amazing! Loved that everyday they send you on whatsapp the daily menu, the weather and the tides hours. Although the beach isn't accessible from this hotel, they have another hotel from the same group nearby, to which they provide a shuttle bus and you can access the beach during the day.

The only thing I think it's missing is a blow-drier.

Très bonne expérience

Très belle vue, très bon emplacement pour excursions sur Île de Mnemba. Bon centre de plongée avec du personnel très bien qualifié . Nous avons eu le droit à un surclassement de la chambre dû à la disponibilité. Les repas étaient également très Bon.

Traumhafte Hotelanlage

Wunderbare, sehr abseits gelegene Anlage, die sehr gepflegt ist. Herausragender Service. Tauchcenter (sehr gut) direkt angebunden.

Man muss immer im hauseigenen Restaurant essen, da es keine Alternative in Laufnähe gibt. Sehr gutes Essen, preislich in Ordnung. Hauptgericht zwischen 15 und 20 Dollar.

Sunshine was like a beautiful, luxurious beach home in Zanzibar. We will absolutely go back!

Absolutely incredible property with majestic views of the Indian Ocean. Amazing, luxurious rooms and the food, with a special alternating menu for every single meal, made our stay simply superb. The dive shop on the property made it very convenient for us to go snorkelling and diving. Especially want to appreciate the team and staff at Sunshine who were all amazing! Hamida and Haytham at the front desk made us feel warm and welcome not just when we walked in, but were there to constantly check in on us thoughout our stay. Gratitude also to Daniel at the bar and Mtwalib, Rosemary & Patricia at the restaurant who made us feel so much at home. And last but not the least, I’ll always remember Sunshine for the amazing Bush Babies it had around. Never seen those cuties anywhere else :)

It’s not always possible to go out on to the beach from this property from they have a free shuttle to their sister property close by to enjoy the beach. So it wasn’t a huge deal but something to be aware of.

Beautiful!!

I was supposed to stay two nights only but I extended. Its absolutely stunning. Very quiet and beautiful. The view from the room is amazing and the facilities are great.

Wonderful hotel for our honeymoon

Lovely secluded location, wonderful flower gardens and incredible ocean view over Mnemba Island. Great place for diving at Mnemba Atoll as the hotel has its own diving centre. Delicious food, menu changes every day. Very friendly and welcoming staff. They did everything to make sur we had a special honeymoon stay. Highly recommend!!

NIce people and a quiet place

The room was really nice and quiet. The personal was really kind and could suggest us well for any type of recommendations. We get a lot of informations through whatts app which is really practical.

We didn't have any lights on the balcony, could be good if you added some.

Paradise

If you're looking for a quite getaway with mesmerizing seaside views you could not find a better place! Beautiful hotel with amazing rooms, great pool and restaurant area and gorgeous nature setting! Although as the hotel remains eco-friendly, there is no aircon, the rooms are built in such a way that they remain cool during the night and aircon is not needed. In the evenings, bush babies are regular visitors on the hotel grounds, not something you see every day! The affiliation with the diving center is very convenient as you can go from breakfast to scuba diving in the space of 10 minutes! They also have the fastest wifi I have experienced in Zanzibar.

Nice hostel ,bad hotel

The views and common areas

There are two kind of rooms. If you are in the one with terrace and Seaview is nice even if they don't have air-conditioning. The problem is that the other rooms they have no terrace, they are at the bottom with only and small window and no air conditioning and it gets really warm, they put 4 fans at my parents room, very noisy and still warm. I explained the manager that they were to old to be in that room and she told me that changing it would break her organization of the week, too much effort apparently. ( so remember that if you are in room 28 or 27 you are not going yo sleep) The food is nice but my brother found an screw in it .....couldnt believe it . Compared with other places with Zanzibar that the staff is really friendly, here they look mostly annoyed. So basically, beautiful place because of the area but is more like a beautiful hostel than a hotel I would say.

Great place for diving !

We chose this location for diving as it is directly opposite the Atoll which is great! Dive point are onsite and have their own area and swimming pool. Rooms were big and open and 'eco' style made from raw and natural materials. It isn't 5* but is really nice. Beautiful garden areas throughout the premises The pool area was lovely, big, open and spacious! The best bit, so nice to relax each day and look out across the ocean The food was good although quite small portions and like every hotel quite expensive. Lunch around $10-15 and dinner $12-18 for one meal, coffee $3 We chose only breakfast but you can choose HB or FB but we found it nice to go out a few nights to Metemwe and Nungwi for dinner. Taxis are expensive booking through the hotel, so get a relationship with a driver early on and they will do you some great deals. Their sister hotel 'Sunshine Bay Hotel' was accessible via a free shuttle (10 mins away) and has a beach when the tide is in. It's very similar but smaller but good for a change of scenery.

The rooms had open sides with netting which may to some people not feel very private.

The hotel is isolated, no beach that you can swim. There is Suttle to another hotel. But this is also not a great beach.

Great food, stunning views, and great activity opportunities within the venue ( diving, snorkeling, yoga, spa) The room was beautiful and cleaned every day which was very appreciated. Would highly recommend for a total vacation vibe!

A magic place overlooking Mnemba island !

we spent 3 nights at Sunshine Marine Lodge and it was fantastic! spacious rooms and beautiful gardens all around the property. the lodge overlooks Mnemba island and it creates a very unique place in the all of Zanzibar. it is absolutely stunning and the perfect place to reconnect with nature! staff it’s super friendly , kind and always smiling , which is rare now days … so a big appreciations for the staff 🙏🏻 we chose half board , the food was A la carte! super tasty and various dishes every nights . we loved everything about the hotel. the lodge it’s in a secluded area so it’s a bit difficult to go around ( unless you have your own car) , you will not find many restaurants near by as well but restaurant at the hotel like I said was superb. we where looking for peace and relax so was simply perfect . we will definitely come back to this magical place 💫

Went for a few days with my kids to visit tide pools, swim in the pool and soak up the ocean.

Right on the ocean. Great view. Nice Breeze. Exactly what we wanted for snorkeling and being near the ocean. Can't beat the place. Wifi worked really good. Was able to install some things and get a new device working. Short boat ride over to the Atoll for snorkeling or diving. If you are a dive person this is the ideal location and they do the full suite of training and instruction in house and on the water.
