Very spacious rooms, comfortable matteraces, very helpful and professional staff. Swimming pool was nice too and the zigzag bridge with the walk around the lake are amazing!
The furniture is worn out and the water in the swimming pool was too warm.

Nothing

The room was very nice, spacious and clean. Big beds, enough for a family of four.
If you don’t pay for a breakfast at the property, the first cafe opens at 10:30, so before that there is nothing you can purchase. There is no shops or restaurants close to the hotel.

The Kaohsiung Grand Hotel was just like how I saw in the pictures and the room we got was beautiful too. The hotel seemed mostly empty as we hardly ever bumped into other people in the lobby or halls. We could see a nice sunset and night lights from our city-view room, with nobody else out on their balconies (maybe because everybody stayed on the lake view side?)
We were only in Kaohsiung for two nights and wanted to see the city as much as we could in the short time. The hotel is located in an inconvenient area for those without a car, so we opted to use cabs back and forth from the hotel to where ever we wanted to go, which added up to be more than we thought...We'll rent a car next time!

The staff is very friendly and the room is super spacious and the beds are comfortable. Great place to escape from the city and emerge into the wild. Wonderful location. excellent shuttle bus service and reasonable price. Lake tickets are included. It's worth for revisit!
It would be more wonderful that the bath tub is bigger, the way to the swimming pool is more direct and the opening hour of the swimming pool on weekdays remains the same as at weekends.

The best two parts about this room and the stay were the balcony and the pool. The open balcony with the Chinese palace style design and painting was absolutely beautiful. It was spacious and we ordered in just to be able to eat on the balcony. The pool was a lot of fun for the kids. Though accessing the pool was a bit of a pain since we had to exit the front lobby and walk all the way around to the back. Perhaps put a back entrance for easier pool access?
I had higher expectations for a hotel with such a history, the rooms were clean and minimalistic which actually accentuated the Chinese palace style decor on the ceiling and balcony. I enjoyed that. But for the price we paid, there was not much in the room to help us feel welcome. Booking claimed there was a free minibar, snacks, and cup noodles. But the minibar had just two unknown soda brands, no snacks, and no cup noodles. The hotel doesn’t have much “grounds”. It was just roads and parking lot, nowhere for kids to run and play. There were no kid play areas besides the pool. The billiard and pool tables had to be rented. For the price paid, we did not received the buffet breakfast either. So though it was fine, it was underwhelming and not spectacular and I wouldn’t stay again.
The customer service was fine. Though not four or five star material. There was no special feel that we had stepped into a hotel with much history and reputation. The staff was cordial.

the room was spacious with a big balcony.
The breakfast was pretty terrible - not even very many options for fresh fruit. The concierge was quite useless and unhelpful. The balcony has very limited privacy - it was very easy to see into and have others see into our room.

Free HSR pickup with a friendly driver, Mr young. Great view of the swimming pool and the lake from the enormous balcony. I enjoyed early morning swims in the well-maintained pool...what a pleasure! Afternoon Tea was served on our balcony to enable us to enjoy the fantastic view in comfort. The manager, Lillian was very friendly and helpful with all my requests: even helping to organise a lift to the local store and by giving us a guided tour of the hotel (including the 'hidden room'). All our pre-requests were met...a cot in the room, ice and glasses sent to the room. Mr Young (the driver) was everywhere and seemed to do everything!
His friendly and helpful demeanour is a great asset to the hotel's image!
Oh, I also enjoyed playing table tennis and a game of pool both located next to the swimming pool. Make sure to take a leisurely walk around the neighbouring lake - very serene! If you visit the town, take the ferry to Cijin and enjoy a cocktail at the Sunset Bar. I don't normally spend this much money on a hotel room but if you wish to have a relaxing hotel-based mini-break, then the Grand Hotel is the place for you and worth the extra. Oh yes, forgot to say...not only are the rooms big, but the corridors are also extremely wide and roomy - not like hotels of today where land prices don't allow such extravagance. Whenever visiting Kaohsiung...make sure to stay here (pool and lake view room 4th floor)
Nothing! We had a slight hiccup on arrival but the Manager, Lillian and Mr Young all rallied around to fix the situation and more than made up for the slight inconvenience with their manner and service.

the room has complete facilities that includes city view, shower&bathtub, snacks&coffee , twin beds.
the swimming pool is extraordinary that has a mountain view, city view and the hotel view.
the theme and lightning of the hotel is magnificent.
there is a free tour at the lake prior to checkin which also gives us satisfaction during our stay.
the free shuttle service is exceptional that makes us very convenient reaching the hotel from the zuoying station and vice versa.

breakfast was average at best

The room is big, the bed is comfy, easy to access to the lake by walking,
The bath room sink table is so lack of space to put my makeup stuff, and the bath tub could be bigger while the hotel room is so nice and spacious.
