much too overpriced, basic old style furnishings, outdated, not good ingredients at breakfast (cheap prosciutto) and not luxurious, to be charging those fees

Location was in a beautiful quiet surrounding with stunning views
1 reception staff member who did not have a nice hospitality understanding in making us feel welcome, which changed our attitude towards the place even so that we cancelled our dinner reservation.

Beautiful property in the middle of the vineyards. Lovely decoration. Spacious rooms. Good breakfast.
There are a lot of lovely and personal details all over the property, but there were 2 things that fell short in my opinion:
1) Lipton tea for breakfast
2) service at the Michelin-starred restaurant is sub par (Food is delicious though).

Great location, great restaurant and a wonderful breakfast!

Our stay at Locanda Del Pilone was great! Everyone went out of their way to ensure we had what we wanted/needed (vineyards to visit, places to eat, etc.). The onsite facilities (restaurants, pool, rooms, etc.) met our every need, plus some. The view of the surrounding vineyards/area was breathtaking.
What we considered a slight negative, breakfast. The offering had meats, cheese, fruit, breads, and cereal. Coffee, tea, milk, juices, and water rounded out the beverages. There wasn’t any offering of eggs or warm (cooked) items. Maybe this is the typical breakfast for this region, but we expected a bit more when compared to everything else we experienced here during our stay.

It’s a beautiful location and very nicely decorated hotel
I had booked the hotel because of the pool. Unfortunately, when we arrived it rained the entire day, so we went to Barolo instead. The next day we had breakfast and then needed to check out shortly after. We were told we weren’t allowed to use the pool after check out because we weren’t guests anymore. I told them we were unlucky with the rain and the response was that that was not their problem. I have never experienced this before. Supposedly it was because the hotel was full but check in wasn’t until 3, so our replacements wouldn’t have been able to use it before then anyway. In the end they allowed us to stay for an hour and there was absolutely no one else at the pool. I like to stay at smaller hotels because they generally have great service but this was the first time this ever happened and upon return we will not be staying here again.

The pool and location with great view. The Michelin restaurant is the highlight absolutely brilliant meal!
Plenty of free parking. Room good size and very clean.
Not being allowed to have breakfast on a lovely garden terrace, why? Balcony to small with no seats or table.

The staff were exceptional....even in the heat...and even when they were short Staffed one day. Fine Service...very professionell.

the lovely design of the old farmhouse and the friendliness of the staff who made us all fell very comfortable. thank you
it's hard as the unprecedented heat wave makes it hard to keep old places cool when they are in direct sun.. our room was very cool and comfortable but I think everyone will need to think about cost effective ways to keep the buildings from heating up - it was an issue across the region

location, staff.
air conditioning could be little better as ac was not enough for the size of room

Incredible beautiful environment.

The staff was nice and helpful, except for the fact we were not helped in carrying the luggage between the lobby and the car, both at arrival and departure.
The beautiful view.
I believe CoVid should not be used as an excuse for the breakfast to be served in only in the room.
This has not been the case in other hotels in recent trips, both in Italy and other countries.
It created some discomfort because of lack of space and of options.
Room is spacey, but decoration is old and not very comfortable.
Bathroom has bad lighting.

friendly staff attentive to needs of clients
liked it all

the staff and food were both exceptional!
The wifi was a bit of a disaster, which was problematic as we were trying to work from there.

The location of Locanda del Pilone is unbeatable. On top of a bricco (hill) it dominates the Langhe landscape 360° and it’s a stone throw away from Alba.
There are literally no neighbours and there’s barely any traffic on the main road, so quiet nights are guaranteed.
The staff members are lovely and having a Michelin star restaurant in house means the breakfast is incredible.
The accessories in the bathroom felt a bit dated and the lack of shower.

the location is outstanding and it sets the level of exepctations which were unfortunately unattended - see below. definetly not worth for the price paid.
We paid full rate despite the fact that the swimmingpool was not accessible on the 3 day (we stayed 2 nights) - this was communicated but the hotel didn't find any alternative to offer. the bistro was closed and not communicated (so again 1 service less vs what sold in Booking) - on the other side we have been asked twice if we would book the michelin restaurant on monday night but nobody took care of sharing that no service for lunch was available. we asked on monday night to get a exetended check out (6 pm) as i was meant to work remotely - we follow up twice without any responese- please note WE WERE THE ONLY GUESTS for the duration of the stay and despite chasing for a feedback we have been communicated over the phone (not even in person) we should have left the room at 1 pm (few hours before so i couldn't even reorganzie myself with my smart working actvities). cleaning service: i did mentioned specifically i was meant to work during the days - i got contacted 4 times to understand the best time which I did specify (1 pm to 2 pm - lunch time) - result? nobody came to clean the room so i do wonder what is the service mean here? the room is nothing special with the exception of the spectacular view around which it's the reason why perhaps somebody might think it's enough for the value paid. the breakfast was served in the room as communicated (due to covid). Fine but I would have appreciated (since WE WERE THE ONLY CUSTOMERS) to be asked what our preferences were the evening before - this is normally what is done when you serve the breakfast in the room to avoid having buffet set due any restrictions these days. all the above have been shared with different teams' memebers but unfortunetely no one was keen to talk in person with us to solve the unpleaseant situation - i have been travelling a lot these past decades but rarely see such a poor level of management in customer service and hospitality overall.
