Make Memories! For those special occasions and for discerning travelers.
Enjoy the elegant and comfortable Arris Heritage House, custom built in 1911 by noted builder Daniel J Arris and listed on the Wisconsin Historic register. So much has been updated yet the warmth and comfort of yesterday's elegance shines through the 11 stained and hand painted glass. The neighborhood was home to many of the local business leaders of that era and remains an area with delightful neighbors. The home was built for the Glenn Darst family with Grandpa Glenn (as he was known to all) living in the residence into his 90s. This great home had so many family and neighbor gatherings that the feeling of joy still rings through the home.
The main floor was designed with quality. The gorgeous cherry woodwork is complemented with 11 pieces of original stained glass and one of a kind hand painted stained glass from Duluth's St. Germain Studios. Note the crystal chandeliers. You will enjoy the comforts of a large cozy living room and elegant dining room. The modern kitchen features professional level Jenn Air appliances. Don't forget to connect to the Bluetooth speakers (in the living room and connected to the front outdoor porch)
The main living quarters are on the second level. We named them: North Star, North Shore and North Woods. Each bedroom is equipped with a new large Smart TV. The cobalt blue and white master features a sitting room that can provide extra sleeping (on the couch or air mattress). Enjoy the walk in shower too.
The third floor is it's own world with a huge remodeled bath room with separate shower and claw foot tub. To the left is a sleeping area or play area depending on your group. The barn-styled door to your right finds a sitting room or sleeping room depending on your needs.
We just added "Glenn's Grotto" in the lower level where we took a scary old basement and created some great hang out and game space. Grandpa Glenn had a game room built in the basement where adults could gather for games and libations. Later on, the grand kids took over and after that the area became a hobby room. We bring back the space as Glenn's Grotto featuring a family room and a separate game area PLUS a quarter bath. We have a large screen TV, a foosball table, card and game table and more. Grandpa Glenn never allowed cigars at his card games. Neither do we.
Make memories!
Note: Pets are welcome (dogs) with a $75 pet fee per dog per stay.

We loved the house. We had great dinners at the dining room table with lots of games and laughs. Bedrooms all comfortable and whole house was immaculate. Would recommend to anyone looking for a house in the area

This is the second time we’ve stayed at this wonderful home. It was so accommodating for a large group of people. We will definitely bring our friends back for a long weekend.

Overall nice rental choice for our family reunion to celebrate Christmas. Beds were comfortable to "ok", depending. Kitchen and bathroom were well stocked with basic supplies. The internet was robust, and the speakers were "a nice touch." The house has beautiful woodwork and other charming period touches. The major drawback for us was the lack of a downstairs bathroom--something to keep in mind, especially if your party includes someone with mobility issues.

Great place to enjoy all that the Duluth/ Superior area has to offer. Excellent house for a group of people with plenty of room for privacy but also hang out and be together. Would definitely recommend staying at this house.

Reunion in Duluth
We had a wonderful time at Arris House! The four beds in the main rooms were very comfortable. The other beds were not really meant for adults. Luckily the three youngest were 20 somethings who could sleep anywhere. The chair lift was fantastic for our eldest guest who would have really struggled with the stairs. Having basic supplies already in the house was also a huge plus so we didn’t have to run out for anything as soon as we arrived. Don’t forget to move your car on Sunday if you park on the street. We did and got a ticket ($15). Our intent was to spend most of our time in Duluth and we ended up spending a lot of time in Superior once we discovered all the beautiful parks and museums. Thank you for a wonderful week with family in a part of the country half of us had never visited before!

Wedding weekend
My fiancé and I got married at the rose garden in Duluth on a Saturday. Our small wedding party all stayed together for the weekend. Was wonderful and so glad we found it.

Charming historic home in a great location
We just returned from staying two nights in this wonderful house. The owners have blended modern amenities with a beautiful, historic home. There was more than adequate sleeping space for our party of 7 and great spaces for us all to eat and relax together. There were many restaurants around for eating in or takeout. If you want to do things in Duluth, it is just a 10 minute drive over the bridge.
The owners were fantastic with their communication before and during our stay. They even emailed the morning temperatures were double digits below zero to alert us to be careful outside. The thing that imporessed us the most about the owners was how quickly they responded to a situation we were having with the heating system. Within 2 minutes of being contacted by us, they had already called the heating specialist, and within an hour the problem was fixed. The rapid fix to the issue all occured on New Year's Eve.
My family would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a place to stay in Duluth or Superior.

Beautiful house!
We had a wonderful time at this property! We arrived when it was dark and woke up to beautiful hand painted windows the next morning. It was the perfect place for us, our kids and my parents to spend the time together.

Beautiful Old Home
The homes was a very beautiful early 20th century home, with updates that only added to the original character of the home. Very clean, beds were comfortable, no complaints!

Nice Home, Good Location
My husband, adult children and grandchildren spend a week at this property. The house is well maintained and clean. It is in a pleasant location and an easy drive to Lake Superior and to Duluth. Both the check in and check out information came via the VRBO app. I would have liked check out information earlier in the process, as we did not get it until the day we were leaving. It could have been in written form in the house or sent a day or two earlier via the app. Communication with the property manager and owner was easy. Questions were responded to promptly. We enjoyed our stay, finding the house roomy and comfortable.

Great stay
Our group consisted of 4 adults and 6 children (ages 3 to 10). There was enough space for all of us to sleep comfortably. The kitchen was fully equipped and the bathrooms had all the toiletries you'd expect at a hotel. It was nice having the backyard and front porch to hang out outside. The only suggestion we would make is another AC in the loft but we came on what is likely to be one of the hottest weekends so would probably not be a problem any other time.

We had a great stay - the house is beautiful, Bruce was great and responded right away if we had questions. We were skiing at Spirit Mountain for a couple of days so this was a wonderful spot for our family! Thank you for a great stay!

Beautiful historic home in quiet neighborhood
This is a stunning home with lots of interesting details. It has recently been restored, so has modern conveniences but still feels historic. Great communication with the owner/manager. It's in a quiet, unassuming neighborhood. We would stay here again.

Weekend Getaway
Our weekend stay at the Arris House was wonderful. The house is a step back in time to a different era but also has amenities that keep it current. A favorite amenity was the beautiful stove which we enjoyed using for a few meals. The small kids enjoyed all the different hiding spots throughout the big house and loved the basement for play and relaxing. Overall, we were very happy with the house and were able to enjoy a relaxing weekend with friends.

Exquisite home in Superior
Arris House is a beautiful place to stay. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds comfortable and the owners readily accessible. Due to the recency of several updates there were a few glitches - none the fault of the owners - but their quick response made our stay truly "Superior". I have no doubt that our next visit will be even better.

Tightie but not Clean
The house was picked up and organized but not clean. Dished where dusty, microwave had old food cooked inside it, bedding had pebbles on it, toothpaste and hair left in the bathroom sink. With a better cleaning service this place would be so much better. However; Bruce was great. He responded very quickly to all messages I sent.
