About this house rental
Whether exploring our beautiful historic city (6mi north) or splashing in the ocean (7mi east), you can’t go wrong with a stay here on James Island, a charming barrier island of Charleston. We've prepared a private space in our pet and smoke-free home which includes one bedroom with a comfy queen bed, a full bath with shower/tub and a cozy TV lounge that offers a breakfast/work table and a coffee station with mini-fridge and microwave. You’ll find your rooms to be immaculately clean & fresh.
Do you prefer the City or the Beach? We’ll take BOTH!
If you’re ready for a stress-free adventure in the “Low Country” of South Carolina you’ve found the right place! Our home is just over the bridge from historic downtown Charleston.
You can easily spend a day or two exploring our beautiful “Holy City”, named for the abundance of church steeples. The average Uber/Lyft fare to get there is just around $10. Bring your walking shoes, because once there, it’s easy to wander in and out of shops, alleys, pubs, gardens, museums and along the historic waterfront. Old Town Charleston is relatively compact, so a car isn’t really necessary. And if you need a break from walking there’s always a pedi-cab ready to carry you to your next destination.
Or…you can head for the ocean and discover Folly Beach, just 7 miles east and approximately $15 for a 20 minute Uber/Lyft ride. Folly is our laid-back coastal beach community, dubbed the “Edge of America” by locals. It is an active beach town with plenty of shops, restaurants and music to keep you entertained, along with a beautiful coastline and plenty of sandy beach for sunning, swimming or walking.
So, you see? Whether you’re looking for a historical, cultural, educational, musical, theatrical or gastronomical adventure or you just want to kick back, build sand castles, splash in the water, eat some great seafood and listen to beach music, you can’t go wrong!
We’re also within a half hour to 45-minute drive from Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley and Johns, Wadmalaw, Seabrook and Kiawah Islands!
Want to kick your relaxation up a notch? Then arrangements can be made for an in-house therapeutic Swedish massage by a Licensed Massage Therapist. Please make this request during our initial communications.
Enter through our front door ~ just like you live here! There are no keys to find or keep track of ~ just your private lock code for the keyless entry. The scent from an aromatherapy diffuser will create your first impression as you enter. Your space is blocked off by sliding, locked doors, and we use an alternate entry when guests are visiting, so you will enjoy a completely private experience.
We strive to create an eco-friendly suite, using natural, chemical-free products for cleaning and laundering. The toothpaste, soaps and shampoo/conditioner provided are chemical-free as well.
You are welcome to sit outside on our front porch and watch the world go by. There are two chairs and a side table for your comfort. The only requirement is that you must wave to our neighbors as they go by walking their doggies…
TV Lounge:
Relax and have your morning beverage in our TV lounge. We've stocked the coffee/tea bar with the supplies necessary to make your stay comfy. The Keurig-like coffee maker is quick and hot and “pods” are provided. You’ll find fresh filtered water in the refrigerated Brita pitcher. The microwave allows for quick heat-ups for your drinks or any food you may choose to bring in. Our guests use these items frequently to cook simple meals. There’s also a popcorn popper for those late-night hunger pangs.
We provide you with bottled water, coffee and tea and all the plates, bowls, coffee cups, drinking glasses, silverware, utensils and towels you should need as well as salt, pepper, popcorn, raw sugar, cocoa and local honey.
Grocery stores, gas station markets, liquor stores, Walgreens and plenty of varied restaurants are within 1 to 3 miles for any other vacation cravings.
You’ll have a Samsung 34” flat panel TV in the lounge. We use HD Antennas to pull in our 13 local TV stations and ROKU for many more interesting tv and movie options, along with Netflix. (there’s no cable tv). Wifi 5G is available. And if you want to unplug, we’ve added books and games to the mix ~ there’s even a yoga mat if you feel so inclined!
The sofa in this room folds open to become a twin sized bed. Extra linens, blankets pillows and pillowcases for the sofa are furnished. There’s a breakfast/work table with two dining chairs and an additional side chair for your comfort.
The closet in the TV Lounge can be used for your storage while visiting. There are also folding chairs, a small cooler and a beach bag with bamboo mats, towels and swim noodles for two to relax at Folly Beach during your stay.
We keep the temperature at 71 during the day and 68 at night. Ceiling fans are overhead for added comfort.
The Suite:
Your suite consists of the front entryway and hallway, one bedroom with a queen sized bed, a tv lounge with coffee station and couch that folds out to a twin sized bed and a full bathroom with shower/tub. You'll find everything needed for a short or long stay; a perfect oasis for business or pleasure travelers.
You’ll find your rooms to be immaculately clean and fresh. Ours is a pet- and smoke-free home. We’ll also do our best to keep cooking smells to a minimum during your stay.
The Neighborhood:
In 1979 our cozy house was built as the model home for this well-established residential community. Our home is a legally permitted short term rental property with off-street parking alongside our driveway. You’ll notice Spanish moss-covered live oaks lining many of the streets along your drive.
We expect our guests to be respectful of our home and neighbors and we will enforce the house rules of no parties, amplified music or loud noises and no smoking. Any breach of the house rules will result in a forfeit of your security deposit in full.
We live in a safe and quiet neighborhood which is great for morning and evening walks or runs. And if you’re a run/walker we’re in the middle of several beautiful locations for longer treks; the James Island County Park, West Ashley Greenway, Ft. Lamar Heritage Preserve and Sunrise Park…but more on that later…
Charleston is a foodie town. It’s difficult to find a bad meal here because there is such intense competition amongst the area restaurants. So eat up! Within 3 miles you can find BBQ, Bagels, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Mexican, Burgers, Seafood and they’re all locally owned, non-chain, yumminess!
And if you want to hit the gym after all that food, there’s Golds Gym, O2 Fitness, Pivotal Fitness, Orange Theory and Cross Fit James Island somewhere down the road.
Transportation:
Uber and Lyft are everywhere these days and so, available for your vacation needs as well. The average Uber fee from our house to the Charleston International Airport (18mi / 30min) usually runs about $30. A trip to Folly Beach (7mi / 20min) is approximately $15 and to downtown Charleston (6mi / 11min) is just around $10. Uber Eats is also available for food delivery!
Though there are no traditional hop-on, hop-off bus tours in Charleston, they do have a free city trolley called the CARTA DASH Trolley. These travel through the historic part of Charleston, allowing you to to see much of what you would on the other guided tours, though without any commentary. However, if you use their Self-Guided Tour of Historic Charleston during your ride, you’ll never know the difference!
There are 3 different routes that the trolley takes:
• Route 210 (Orange) drives from College of Charleston to the Aquarium.
• Route 211 (Green) will take you to the waterfront, Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, and City Market
• Route 213 (Purple) connects Brittlebank Park and Riley Stadium to the historic city center.
Each of these routes meet at the Visitors Center, Marion Park and Charleston Museum. Maps are available at each of these locations. You can search Free Tours By Foot for more information.
We've always got our ears perked for new/better/interesting information to offer our guests. There will be maps, brochures, menus, promos and the latest City Paper in your lounge when you arrive.
Please Note: While I typically do not meet my guests, due to my work schedule, I am available via text and quick to respond in an efficient manner to your requests, questions or needs.
We look forward to having you as our guests!

Our stay at this property was wonderful. It has everything you might need. The property manager, Andrea is amazing, very helpful, and responsive. They even took care of such little, but very useful thing like umbrellas. The place is very cozy, bathroom is very clean and fully equipped. I've never seen so many towels provided at any place we were before! So nice! We really enjoyed our time.

Overall we enjoyed our stay; there was obvious care put into the amenities available when staying with Andrea (ex. games like scrabble or trivia, beach chairs and beach towels). There were plenty of towels and wash cloths for bathing in the bathroom — I find a lot of rentals are not very generous and provide the bare minimum of towels/wash amenities, and appreciated this. Proximity to Charleston and Folly Beach were my main concerns and James Island is my preferred location so this was ideal in terms of travel between the city and the beach, it never felt too long either way. You share a wall with the host as you are in the same house, but we never heard them.
My only suggestion is perhaps a different mattress and thicker curtains in the bedroom area because the current one was extremely firm and the room quite bright even at 6am. I would stay again if even just the curtains were changed. I would also note for future travelers that we did need to strip the bed and to take the trash out. Andrea has a booklet where there are instructions for check in and check out, and it is very informative. The later check out time (11:00) allowed us time to pop down to Folly for a quick breakfast before coming back to check out and this was appreciated as it extended our enjoyment of our trip, not feeling rushed at check out.

Great Host, great property

A well thought out pleasantly deceptive surprise. They thought of everything and utilized the space perfectly. It was comfortable, quiet and centrally located on James Island. If there were traffic issues on Folly Road, the back roads were easily accessible to take the semi express to Folly beach. I would recommend this place to anyone and my wife and I will most likely stay here in the future

My husband and i picked to stay here for my birthday and it was absolutely perfect. Just what we needed.

Super clean and tidy home within a home. Just right for a short stay, for one or two people, in the Charleston area. Perfectly close to downtown, Folly and all that the area has to offer. Andrea has everything one could want or need - from beach chairs to (rain) umbrellas. A wonderful place.

Andrea provided a warm and welcoming place. Ample dresser and closet space. Comfortable bed and furnishings with wonderful little touches like a nice selection of k-cups of coffee and tea. She provided a useful binder with local information and a great personal recommendation on a great pizza place! We would stay there again!

We definitely recommend this rental. My husband and I chose this for my milestone birthday getaway. We loved the area, the well maintained and comfortable suite in a quiet and quaint neighborhood. Conveniently located between Charleston and Folly Beach. Andrea was a fabulous host. She made our stay comfortable and provided so many great amenities. We loved Charleston and the surrounding area. We will be back and will choose this rental again. Thank you Andrea! Roseann and Joe

This property is perfectly situated between Folly Beach (12 minutes) and downtown Charleston ( 12 minutes). They have it completely blocked off from main home so it feels more like a little apartment. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, there was a small, cozy living room with a well stocked refrigerator area w/microwave. It is more budget friendly than staying right at Folly. I found it to be very nice and would go back again.

Loved our stay. We needed a place to land at the end of the day and this was perfect. Close to everything. Thank you Andrea.

Great location for what we were there to see(downtown and Folly Beach), good shopping and restaurants nearby.
Andrea was easy to contact and responded quickly to my questions.
Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Quiet neighborhood. Never knew anyone was in the other side of our dwelling place.

There were no surprises. The suite was exactly as described in ad. The area felt safe, and is perfect for anyone who loves to beach one day, and then go uptown Charleston the next! Thanks Andrea for accommodating our needs so thoughtfully!

We came to the area for our anniversary celebration. This was the first time either of us have visited the Charleston area.
Check in was a breeze, we were going to be late, so I just text our host to inform her.
The smell when you arrive was pleasant with the essential oils diffusing, not over bearing. You have a bathroom, bedroom with a queen bed and a living space.
We didn’t spend a lot of time at the home because we were out and about. The living space is ample with a microwave, fridge, coffee pot and even filtered water in the fridge. The only draw back was the couch and chair were not comfortable to sit on.
Andrea (the host) has decorated the space well, she has provided plenty of brochures and guides of things to do in the area. That was very helpful. The location was convenient as it was not far into town and easy access to Charleston and other areas.
Great little gem.

Andrea is a very gracious host. Before I even arrived she reached out to offer her apperciation of my chosing her home. She also offered to schedule a massage for me, which I sorely needed. Unfortunately due to personal issues i was not able to enjoy her home at this time. I do however plan to schedule another visit in the fall.

Amazing , cozy, clean, and comfortable place to stay. Want that sleep well? Stay here. 😇
I enjoyed staying here. I give it a five star. Property owner is kind and accommodating. Space was very clean and had extra touches of detail from popcorn to coffee, to visitor guides, maps, beach chairs, games etc. The beds were comfortable. Water stayed warm after a family of three had long showers. Owner did not leave one detail undone to make it a wonderful stay. If you come to Charleston, stay here!

Lovely , comfortable home
My husband and I stayed in Andrea's comfortable home over Christmas to be close to our nearby family. She has everything you could want in a small space - a relaxing , spotless sofa to watch tv , a kitchen unit that holds a coffee machine, pods , creamers , etc. A small fridge & microwave for snacks . The Queen sized bed is so comfortable - a nice firm mattress . And beautiful linens & quilts on the bed plus wonderful large white fluffy towels in the bathroom. Andrea was friendly & helpful with all correspondence . The neighborhood is quiet and convenient to downtown or the beach . Her place was perfect for us and we recommend it highly !

From the beach bag filled with fun, to the coffee bar, and the complimentary shampoo, body was, and conditioner, she has thought of every detail. We can't to Folly Beach to get married.
