About this house rental
20 minutes from downtown (Tennessee Aquarium Imax Theater, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Ruby Falls, Rock City, and so much more)
Get away from it all and still have high speed internet and multiple TVs
Spacious outdoor deck with refrigerator and sitting area right next to river, three comfortable decks off the back of the house (one screened in), plus a huge attached patio with a grill and dinning table for six, a floating dock for those who bring a boat, and both bedrooms and entertainment room and kitchen overlook the Tennessee River.
Just recently, renovations were made to the house that include updated bathrooms and kitchen, full paint job and new flooring in parts, and all new furniture. The key to this rental home is the setting, huge grass yard, pavilion and dock, fabulous views of the river and surrounding mountains, and tons of clean/renovated space for ten. And for full disclosure, we inspect the home inside and out just before any renters arrive, so the interior should be perfect, but there is a chance that our local spiders and bugs might build some webs in the interim so be ready to be away from the city and in nature.
This cabin comfortably sleeps ten (10), with 1 king sized bed in the master bedroom on the main level with a full bath and a bunk room off the bathroom for little ones (these twin beds are in the back closet of the bathroom and should not be considered for use with adults or anyone who wants their own bedroom...think of this as a pull out couch in the greatroom...doesn't apply to everyone, but can be very useful for some), one (1) queen sized bed with it's own bathroom, and (2) twins in another bedroom upstairs (you have to go through this bedroom to get to the master....a weird layout...we agree)as well as one (1) queen sized bed with a full kitchen and bathroom in a large TV/game room with games and a pool table (all downstairs with it's own entrance).
There are two fireplaces inside the home, but they are now decorative and do not burn wood or gas logs. There is an outdoor fire area on the patio, but the indoor fireplaces do not function.
Maximum occupancy at all times is 10 people.
This property is about 12 miles from downtown, but sometimes feels further because of the slow, narrow, winding river road. The view is fantastic however, and provides a wonderful way to slow down from hectic daily life!
Swimming: The home is on the Tennessee River which is an active river with water flow. The ability to swim in front of the house depends on the amount of water flow the dam upstream is releasing. There is also a shallow cut out area downstream from the dock that allows you to get in and out easy (yes, it is muddy as it is a riverbed), but it is very gradual. I would equate the question of age and ability to swim as I would to swimming in the ocean. If there are huge waves and an undercurrent, you know to stay near the shore. If there is a lot of water flow in front of the dock, I would stay near the shore. Most of the time, it is safe for swimmers to swim off the dock and off the shore, but of course, you need to look at conditions and use your best judgement.
Dock: The home has a nice dock that will hold up to a 20 foot boat easily. There are boat rental places around (as of this message, Hales Bar Marina Rents them as well as a place on Suck Creek Road (just Google Boat rentals in Chattanooga and make sure they are on the river). Also, Jesse, with River Gorge Excursions (www.rivergorgeexcursions.com) will give $20 discount if you enter "vacation" at checkout. Gas is either in Chattanooga or Hales Bar so keep that in mind. You are more than welcome to bring your boat (and that is one of the benefits of this home with a large covered dock), but as I said, keep fuel replenishment in the back of our mind. There is a nice long boat put in on the way to the home if you are coming from Chattanooga. There is plenty of room to store the trailer at the house, but it is a tight and winding road to get there, so be careful make sure you know how to pull a trailer if you bring it to the house.
Grill and firewood (for the outdoor fireplace only): There is a charcoal grill on property. We have provided charcoal and firewood in the past, but some renters use it all up before we can restock, so please bring your own. If that is a challenge, let me know and I will see if we can ensure there is some for your stay.
Bugs/snakes/critters/spiderwebs: I want to be very clear on this. We are obsessive about providing an extremely clean property, but this home is on the river and is out in nature, so if you see some of nature, please know that we have done our best. The home is on the river and basically surrounded by woods, so there will be spider webs and water bugs and other things found in nature. We spray all the time for bugs, and we get rid of spider webs before each guest, but they do come back. Also, if lights are left on outside next to the river, you will have a ton of waterbugs show up. If the inside has issues with any bugs, it is on us, if it is outside, then it is a gift from Him. THERE IS A LARGE CHANCE THAT YOU WILL SEE BUGS AND SPIDERWEBS OUTSIDE, ESPECIALLY IN THE SUMMER....AGAIN, YOU MOST LIKELY WILL SEE BUGS AND SPIDERWEBS OUTSIDE DURING YOUR STAY. WE CANNOT STOP NATURE

The property itself is gorgeous. The view is spectacular, and it feels very private and peaceful! I loved this part of it for sure. The house itself has some interesting aspects. The views from the master are wonderful, and we enjoyed the screened in porch. All in all, this house did not meet our needs well though. We had 6 adults, and we very much wanted to spend time together and the living area and eating area did not fit all of us. Both areas are set up for four people max, and we had six. The only table that fit six was outside in the elements. We ate there one night, but it was very hot, and very buggy. We couldn’t all sit together and play games either. The inside seating is stools for four, and two can sit at the peninsula, but you aren’t all around a table. Also, the screened porch was nice to have, but it was small and had only comfortable seating for four, the rest were stools. They provide kayaks which was very nice, but there was no seating down at the doc area. There is a fire pit with no seating and an old outdoor fireplace, but the seating is at a patio below it which is a table and chairs. There are lots of spiders and spider webs everywhere. The jets on the tub didn’t work, and the water smelled just awful. I believe there must be a great deal of sulfur in Thankfully they have filtered water to drink. The master bed and the other full bed were horribly squeaky each time you moved, not allowing for good sleep. Definitely room for improvement.

The property was amazing and quirky. The views were absolutely gorgeous. I really enjoyed the canoe and kayaks it made the experience that much more fun! Property manager was friendly and super helpful!

Our family really enjoyed this place on the river. Between grilling, playing in the game room, fishing and kayaking, we had a blast. Would highly recommend this property to anyone with kids who enjoy the outdoors!
4.7
Loved the location- on River, mountain and felt comfortable
For family of 7 - unique room set up but worked well as front bedroom was great for in laws w bathroom
Kids loved playroom basement - only things board games- games missing pieces (we played spoons which kids loved- card game)
Kayaks were great- w vests and paddles- tubes also
Fishing gear present- for general kids fishing off dock
Great views- nature all around along w views of boats
Alexis from property management was very responsive- some glitches- out of their control (electric went out in neighborhood but fixed in few hours- AC fixed quickly) thank you
Great location w easy access to city Chattanooga (less than 1/2 hour away) and other attractions (ruby falls, lookout mountain, hiking)

We had a great time at the River house. The location was beautiful and the river was calm and peaceful. There was alot if things to do with the canoe, kayaks, fishing, game room, grill and fire pit. The set up was a little strange with the 3 bedrooms but beds were comfortable and the house was clean and lots of space for everyone. We enjoyed seeing Chattanooga and learning some if the history. Must see places.. rock city, ruby falls, lookout mountain, point park, aquarium. Great food everywhere we tried. Only thing that would have made it better would be a new swim ladder and hammock. Brad was responsive and great to keep us informed and made sure we had propane for the grill and firewood for the fire pit. We had a great time at the River house and would enjoy coming back some day!

We had a great time. Brian’s house is well stocked with everything you want. We were a group of 10 from 10 to 70 years old. We used his canoe, kayaks, barbecue grill, fire pit, and fishing poles. Our expert fisherman caught a nice bass along the stone wall. The rest of us were happy catching the many little fish near the docks.
The sunrise over the mountain with the deer across the river was majestic.
I read reviews about no dining table. If you pull the tables away from the wall and use all the stools, it’s a great set up.
Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

House and property were great. Family had a great time fishing and outdoor activities. Fire pit was great for sitting outside in the evenings. Only recommendation would be: few more towels, utensils and coffee mugs. Had a great time would recommend to any family.

Already looking to book this place again next year! Great location and amenities!
4.7
Setting on the TN River was beautiful. Home was spacious but layout was a bit odd. Plus side was that everyone had their own space, great for the teens.
4.7
This property was awesome, the views, fishing, kayaking and pure peace and quiet, home has everything you need!!!! Cool game room downstairs with huge boulder as wall!!! I will certainly rent this home again!!
4.7
Gorgeous home!! Everything was clean and comfortable. Bradley was very responsive and so helpful.

A breathtaking view from the yard, a well-furnished and clean house, an awesome rec-room basement with a bar, fantastic stonework for a great castle-feel, easy access to the River, provided water accessories, and a very pleasant interaction with the owner. I will be saving this property and will try to visit again in the future. Great Experience.

Love this river house. It was a great stay! So scenic and beautiful but also close for all the family fun activities in town.
4.7
The place was perfect for our needs - lots of beds and space and options to relax and have fun. Kitchen was stocked and well organized, game room had lots to do, the backyard and dock and supplier canoes and inner tubes were great for enjoying the river. Didn’t get instructions to the place until the day of (would have liked that earlier, as we were traveling to the area), but once there it was a great experience for catching up with family.
4.7
My family had such a great time. My grandbabies couldnt have been happier with all the room. Very roomy
4.7
This property was delightfully unique and we really appreciated the layout of the home. We created some real family memories.
A few observations, we felt that we needed to buy cookware because of the condition of what was provided, most of the balconies furniture needed a good cleaning, and the balcony screening and windows are ready for a spring cleaning.
4.7
A quiet and restful weekend away with family. Very unique home next to the river and mountains. Very convenient to downtown Chattanooga.
4.7
This was a beautiful place. My family and I had a blast while we were there. So much so we decided to stay in on the nights we were planning on going out. We spent most of the time in the game room. The road to the property was very narrow at times and is definitely "off the beaten path," but well worth driving it. The host Brad was very accommodating. He answered every question I asked and in a timely manner. We loved it!!
4.7
Property enjoyable. BSMT has big rock that is natural part of wall; beautiful and unique. Lots of space. Kids Loved the arcade machines and funny layout of the house felt adventurous. Property stocked with considerate extras; detergents, k-cups, cooking spices. Older home on well system, expect mineral buildup in areas. Cleaning company could do a better job and maybe use different cleaning products. Floors in bathrooms had waxy coating, felt almost like they used wood floor wax on tiles? Area rugs, bath rugs, stairway carpet were older and dirty (I believe we were there during off season). Cleaner used in the fridge made the fridge smell not good to me; hubby said it was fine. Caught huge fish from boat dock! Home and property were good; mountain and river view was beautiful. I had one issue. The surrounding area/pollution. Home directly across road fine. Once past the property there aren’t any issues. The homes you pass coming in and directly beside are just junky (more seen in winter). Property is a few miles down a dirt road and there are trash piled yards/abandoned trailers on the dirt road that you see coming and going close to property. Trash floating in river. Renting mountain home on River you want beauty all around. I understand property owner has no control of surrounding properties or river pollution. Nothing to be done for that I guess? maybe EPA could require cleanup since area is on river front. Wish I had known before renting. Was not in description.

I stayed here with a group of friends/colleagues for my birthday. It was the best spot to hang out and play games and reconnect with each other. The view was breathtaking, and the home was cozy. Will say there was a lady bug infestation but i think its just the season, my office building in Hoover al is going through the same thing so no qualms! Best Chattanooga visit for us yet!

We enjoyed ourselves!

Our family has fond memories of this place. It was finally time we got back together and started making memories. Everything was perfect. We had so much fun. The place has so much character.
4.7
This property is everything that you see in the description. . Beautiful waterfront, looking directly at the mountains. More than enough room for the entire family . An awesome game room that was great fun for everyone. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back.
4.7
Check in process was easy, house was clean, property was very nice and open.
4.7
The views of the river were amazing . The back was great for entertainment. We would definitely stay here again.
4.7
Had four families and had plenty of room. Great view.
4.7
This place is a large family’s DREAM! The location was breathtaking. The screened in porch off the kitchen was perfect for the little kids to hang while cooking. Eating breakfast at the bar on the porch was relaxing while looking at the river! The kayaks, canoe, and fishing items kept the teenagers busy during the day and the pool table and darts kept them busy in the evening. We celebrated a 2 year old bday and the downstairs patio connected to the second kitchen area was perfect! The property was huge!
The house was clean, had plenty of space, and was stocked with everything you would need.
We will definitely be back!
4.7
Amazing location. The property and house was spacious and peaceful. They had enough entertainment for the children and even the adults. The covered dock was useful and well maintained. We would rent again.
4.7
Overall great time

We wanted peace & quiet in a beautiful area and we got it. The place is in need of repairs (stairs, decking, light bulbs etc) but still a great place to relax. Has all you need to enjoy some time with family & friends away from hussle & bussle. Would stay again if in the area. Owner was readily available to contact & helpful. Thankyou Brad.
4.7
Property relects price. You certainly don't feel like you are going to ruin anything. Could use a good cleaning and I don't mean the cobwebs. Great location/view. Nice dock. Would rent again.
4.7
We had an amazing time at this river house with our family and friends. I was surprised that it looked better than the pictures and was bigger than expected. The bunk room was actually more spacious than what the picture looked like, like a small extra bedroom. The downstairs was our favorite part it’s big and open enough room for everyone to hang out. Very nice dock which we used to dock our boat and a big yard for activities. The property was about a 15-20 minute boat ride downtown Chattanooga and only 2-3 minutes away from the “sand bar” the other direction where you pull on the side of the river and swim. I would definitely stay here again! The only thing we didn’t love was the smell of the water from sinks and showers it was pretty rough and noticed the color of the water was brown one morning but didn’t stop us from having a great time. I’d recommend brushing your teeth with bottled water. I’d still give this place 5 stars!!
4.7
The location of the house is on the beautiful, Tennesse River and couldn’t be beat! We watched the river traffic and especially liked seeing the barges pass. Suggestions for owner would be to ask the housekeeper to clean cobwebs off the porches. They had been there a long while and it wasn’t pleasant or relaxing to sit in the spiders’ lairs. There was also an ant problem. They’d crawl right up on you(in the house). The kitchen was VERY well stocked, however, there was not any dish clothes or drying towels. But they did provide paper towels. The laundry room rack above the dryer was caked in dust and there were chips on the floor in the kitchen from previous guests. But the beds all had nice clean linens and showers were clean. The TVs were difficult to work but we found that to be a blessing because we played games, read, and hung out. All in all the experience was good. Just didn’t meet our complete cleanliness standards. We would go back just with hopes of these things being taken care of. Thanks for sharing your house with us. We left with lots of good memories!
4.7
We loved being right on the river. The house included a canoe and some kayak's, which we used almost every day. We also had fun with the dartboard, pool table and arcade games in the basement.
Read the description of the house closely, they do a fantastic job of describing the layout and what it's like to be on the river. The layout is a little odd (which they are very clear about) but it worked perfectly for the group we had. My in-laws took the bedroom that is off the living space and then my kids, husband and I took the cluster of beds and master bath in the back of the house.
They also aren't kidding when they talk about the spider webs in the description. The good news is the spider webs are all outside on the deck space, not in the house!
Brad is a great host and super responsive to any questions and concerns that we had along the way!

Spent a few days in July at the house. Good location with easy access to Chattanooga. We all loved the river, game room, kayaks and canoe! Would love to come back next time we are in town.
4.7
We love the TN River Gorge! The house was great! The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. The kitchen was wonderful and had everything we needed and was well labeled, so we could find things. There isn't a place for everyone to hang out and watch TV together at night and no dinner table, but it wasn't that big of a deal and it forced us to do other things and be outside!! The game room was so fun for our boys and we played games together. We enjoyed the porches and the dock. We brought our boat and paddleboards to enjoy the river. I spent hours on the dock enjoying the view and all the wildlife around us. The birds, turtles, groundhogs, fish, etc, were so fun to watch! The weather wasn't great, but we still enjoyed it. We will definitely be back!!
4.7
First off it's absolutely beautiful outside ! We woke up every morning and had our coffee one of the many decks it had. Every day we fished and swam. We caught a 12 lbs. catfish and about a 5lbs. Bass.!The kids loved it they were never bored and didn't pick up a electronic once until bedtime. The central works great they had plenty of dishes. We didn't need any of those. They had coffee stocked. They had dish detergent, laundry detergent, toilet paper, fully stocked towels. I've seen on reviews people talk about the cobwebs and bugs. It's on a lake that's expected. The place was not dirty one bit. It was clean. It was beautiful. The owner Bradley was wonderful. I asked him a lot of questions and I didn't feel like I was bothering him he didn't, make me feel that way at all. There is a boat rental about two minutes down the road from the place. Also a great bar/restaurant about 5-10 minutes away plus Walmart not far at all .Also, the kayaks and the canoe was an extra plus , and for us walking up and down the steps from the boat dock we thought it was going to be really hard on us and my mother-in-law, which walks with a cane got up and down just fine and wasn't in pain at all so we're thinking it's because of the elevation from the mountains. Maybe I don't know but it was wonderful. We're planning on going back next year. If you're planning on renting this place I say go for it you won't be disappointed. Thank you Bradley for great memories at your place.

The cabin is well equipped. We arrived with supplies in hand, though there is a Walmart and Food City only 10-15 mins away in town. There is also a Starbucks along the way. The bedroom layout is a bit odd, but if you have flexible travelers you can make it work. The screened in porch and dock are awesome, and the fact that the owners provide kayaks, a canoe, and life vests is awesome! We had a great stay and would recommend to others.
4.7
This is a wonderful place to stay. Very private. It feels like you have your own personal slice of the river. It was great having our boys (5 and 6) go off and play on their own without worry. Great for fishing, swimming, lounging, whatever you want. The game room was a hit! Also, short drive into town. Would definitely recommend and will be staying again.
4.7
Host was very gracious, answered all our questions promptly & provided everything you could possibly need for your stay. I brought along kitchen supplies etc. that I didn’t expect to be there (based on my past rentals) and I didn’t need to use any of it.
The house felt much larger in person- lots of places to go for a few quiet moments. The view was wonderful and we really enjoyed using the dock and kayaks! Hope to return again soon!
