Wonderful welcoming and knowledgeable host; lovely breakfast. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating and the premises more comfortable. We would recommend this guesthouse and its proprietors without reservation. Perfect.
Nothing. Though only a short stay our experience was spot on. We will be returning 'deo volante' for a further and longer stay in Solway !

We didn’t get any, see below.
Room and en suite were adequate, but the attitude and behaviour of the proprietor was disgraceful. Specifically, on coming down to breakfast the proprietor accused us of stealing drinks from the little bar in the guest lounge. We had a nightcap each on returning from an evening walk around Silloth, expecting to pay for this on settling the invoice in the morning. The proprietor ranted and shouted at us and insisted we leave immediately, and overcharged us for the one brandy and one gin and tonic that we consumed, a dubious business practise. It is very disappointing that he was unable to resolve this matter in a mature and amicable manner, being shouted at in an impressively theatrical style is poor customer service, and completely bizarre. We also received no breakfast despite booking and paying for this, I would not insult our host by describing this as ‘stealing’, but it is poor customer service and an unacceptable business practise. I would welcome the proprietor’s explanation of his irrational and aggressive behaviour.

I stayed here while travelling in the area, not knowing the place at all. It was a great experience with a friendly welcome, a comfortable room that had everything I needed, and a very good evening meal in Stella's Bistro. The breakfast was excellent and I was glad I chose the place for my stopover. If you don't want a bland, modern hotel experience and you appreciate something different, this is the place the stay. Truly excellent!
Nothing negative to say!

it was homely and cosy- nicely decorated and had all the things we needed, even a little fridge with fresh milk and water in it. very secure and a friendly host. good parking and close to everything.
not a dislike as such but the guest house was very hot - which is good but we had to open the window, which I felt bad about in the current climate (energy costs!)

What a lovely place. The owner is extremely friendly and gave us a warm welcome. He even negotiated our price down, as Booking did a mistake. The breakfast is good.
The rooms could get a dust up. But maybe that’s the Special Charme

Proper old school guesthouse that you rarely find anymore - fabulously decorated, G&Ts in the lounge, in-house restaurant with tasty home cooked food. Host was charming and very knowledgeable about the local history and area. Bedrooms are comfortable and have everything you need. Silloth is a cute place and definitely worth a visit, even if it's long past its heyday.
Nothing!
