If you are not used to coastal/river biting gnats, just remember that at dusk (+/- 1 hr) you will be decimated, surrender is the only option.
Now that that's out of the way, if you are looking for a rentable place with a dock for a boat, dog friendly and adjacent to the dog park, close to the Pinellas trail, cycling (even walking) distance from the sponge docks and also to old Tarpon downtown, to have a fabulous boating island exploring fishing eating touring time, with an outstanding host in a quirky (don't feed the giraffe) but fun little bungalow with an outstanding host, then look no further. We researched and found only one other place with a dock, dog friendly and large enough for family and this one was probably better. You won't be disappionted. Just stay inside during dusk :)

We had never stayed at an ocean connected river before, and it was fun to watch the tide ebb and flow. The house is well equipped, and we appreciated being able to bring our dogs. The house has many whimsical objects and some stained-glass lamps that are priceless. The famous 45-mile walking and biking trail is directly behind the house. It is close to the Tarpon Springs Activities, Clearwater, and St. Pete's. Groceries and all supplies are close at hand. The owners are very kind and helpful. Tammy and Peter were very helpful before, during, and after the trip. If you want to try some place a little different, this is for you. The breeze is what I liked the best. It was heavenly.

We had a wonderful time getting away with another couple biking, kayaking, and hanging out in the neat city of Tarpon Springs. The house was nice and neat and had plenty of interesting decorations. I need one of the big drums! We are already checking our schedules for our next visit!

Great location - layout not so easy.
Folks very nice …location great. Home does have a lot antiques - dusty/musty/cobweb ….layout is awkward for certain family/friend situations - no restrooms accessible without going in bedroom - and to get to kids room or laundry - must go through master bedroom to get there . Kayaking is not easy from location due to tide . And others use boat on dock so people come through property.

Lovely place with uncomfortable furniture
The owners have obviously put a lot of work and thought into decoration and lots of lovely eclectic touches, however, they should have spent less on decor and more on furniture. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable as was the couch. The television was set much too high for comfortable viewing and at that price I expect some small soaps and shampoos for a weekend stay as all good hotels and every other vacation rentals I have stayed at has. I actually rented one myself and provided those things in a studio apartment. Very disappointing to have such a lovely place that is uncomfortable to relax and sleep in.

River Hideway
While located within walking distance of everything in downtown Tarpon Springs, one feels away from it all watching the tidal flows and watching the waterfowl on the Anclote River. Great place for paddling kayaks, playing games with friends and relaxing.

Excellent Location!
We really enjoyed staying at this property. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner there and the kitchen was very well equipped - much more so than usual for a VRBO. We also enjoyed the river view and being able to kayak on the river. We would stay there again!

wonderful location! and plenty of room to sleeping. Right on the water with great views! lovely
We loved our stay! thanks for having us! a few minor things would be helpful. We came in late and in the future it would be very nice to have supplies for one pot of coffee, dish soap, dishwasher soap. and bar soap in the showers. It would be wonderful in the future to have a few more sleeping pillows too please. We loved the stay overall and would love to stay again please!

Top location and amenities
Love the river location and the use of canoe and kayaks! Pinellas trail is right outside and a short walk or run to Tarpon Springs downtown and docks. Very family friendly space with lots of tv's for the evening after beach. Tammy was a very responsive manager and answered all questions within minutes.

Mother's Day Getaway
This property was great for our family. We brought my mom for mother's day and were able to bring our dog also. The view of the river is amazing and we loved swinging on the patio out back.

Great location, gorgeous views!
Walking distance from downtown Tarpon Springs and many great restaurants/bars. Laid back town that wasn’t over crowded. Saw a few dolphins in the river and watched awesome sunsets right from the back yard. House is filled with many antiques that were definitely conversation pieces, it was funny watching my daughter use a rotary phone. House was very clean and our dog enjoyed the fenced in yard. Great time!

The house is situated in a lovely, quiet neighborhood along the river
The property had everything we needed to enjoy our stay in Tarpon Spring with a nice dock for easy access to the Gulf. We enjoyed looking at all of the collectibles in the house.

We really enjoyed our stay here. My husband and I worked from the back porch every morning and loved the peaceful surroundings. We were lucky enough to see a dolphin pass by one evening and also caught a spotted trout from the dock. The house was comfortable and worked for our family of four (kids age 5 and 8). The internet was great and supported two of us working and one kid on remote learning. The layout of the rooms is a bit funny, with access to the bunk room through the master bedroom. That was not a problem for us, but just something to keep in mind for larger groups.

Spring Break
The fishing was wonderful along with the docks and the wind in the trees the Dolphins and all the birds. We spent most of our time outside. The docks could hve been cleaner. The house is beautiful and well maintained and equipped with everything u need. Enough space for us. I enjoyed my stay. I do feel for the price that the fronth porch and docks could have been cleaner.

So happy I found this rental ! A great house in a great little area close to everything .
My boyfriend and I stayed here this past weekend and this place is such a gem. The owners are super nice and made this place so unique and beautiful . The house is super spacious and right on the inter coastal . The views were amazing and so close to the sponge docks and they had kayaks to explore with . We can’t wait to come back here next year .

This was a quirky and enjoyable river cottage that gave us a great short stay as a family trip. The entire house is decorated with collections of antique memorabilia that made for delightful conversations and observation throughout. My teen remarked it was like staying in a Cracker Barrel! The house was clean, and well stocked with paper products and linens. The owners live close by and were helpful every step of the way. The beds were comfortable, the TV had great local and streaming options, there was great WiFi access and comfortable furniture. The outdoor space was really lovely and allowed for fishing off the dock, nightly bonfires and relaxation. The porch was one of the few areas that was dirty (there was evidence of smokers) so it wasn’t usable without major cleaning. The kitchen had everything we needed for light cooking. The location was extremely good for proximity to the local eateries and tourist area as well as the Pinellas trail for walking and biking. The neighborhood is a dead end street that was a little sketchy upon first glance and may put some people off. Closer inspection showed houses all being upgraded and friendly people walking pets. It is a adjacent to a rather run down trailer park but the river views and the house itself made up for it. The only real negative was the configuration of the main bath which gave little privacy to both couples that shared the main space. I would highly recommend a slight reconfigure that would add a wall to close off the second shower to have accessibility only to the secondary small bath space and create two truly separate bathrooms. Thankfully we were family but I would not have felt comfortable with the arrangements with friends.

Great Place to RELAX
The house was great, and as great as the outdoor spaces look in the photos, they look even better in person! The outdoor areas of the property were fantastic, especially in pleasant weather! Everything was comfortable and easy, and we had great communications with the owner during our stay.

Great time that will leave long lasting memories!
Owners were very nice and took great care of the location. Theres a lot of neat antiques that will bring you back in time. If you bring a boat the dock is set up to accommodate, but make sure you bring standard bumpers because there is a slight current and tides. Location is quiet and peaceful, but close enough to anything you need. 10/10 would come back!

Forgot I was in Florida.. in a good way
Communication was superb- a last minute rental to extend my vacay ended up being the highlight of the trip. Great quirky cabin vibe in the house and on the grounds... only wish the boat docked out back was part of the rental- then it would be the greatest rental ever ;)

Exceeded Our Expectations!
We loved the accommodations and the location is perfect. The river is easily accessible and so close to the Sponge Docks; a short walk or bike ride is enjoyable and safe. We enjoyed the quiet closeness to the natural beauty of the area. We canoed and spotted manatees, rays and dolphin very close to the dock! The house is spacious and there's plenty of areas for families to gather inside and outside. It's well stocked and the beds are very comfortable. There's quite of bit of interesting collections in the the home to enjoy. It's a great spot to enjoy a vacation in this beautiful part of Florida. We highly recommend catching a fabulous sunset at Sunset Beach and eating some delicious Greek food waterside at Dimitri's!

Memorial Day getaway
This house is absolutely adorable.... very warm and homey! If you have small kids that are active-this may not be the best house because there are many unique collectibles all throughout the house. Perfect for those who like to fish. We will definitely be coming back!

Spring Break 2020
The property was clean and well maintained. It was close to the main highway and also a short walk to the main Tarpon Springs “attractions”. We had an issue with the washing machine working properly, but the property manager Tammy had the machine switched out to a working one while we were out for a few hours. The neighborhood was very quiet, and although we left a few days early because of the Coronavirus pandemic, we would definitely consider booking the again.
