Nice for a one night stay on the go

Too close to the road and hence too noisy at night. The restaurant closes at 19:00.

Superb

Super friendly staff, one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in all Costa Rica! The cabin was very cozy. It did get a little cold during the night but the heater and a couple of blankets sere sufficient. Ideal place to stay if you’re arriving in the afternoon/evening and planning a morning trip to Irazu.

The road next to the hotel was loud so it might be annoying to people who require absolute silence at night.

Perfect!

Grandpas hotel and restaurant exceeded our expectations. The location is great if you are planning visiting Volcan Irazú. The facilities are beautiful, the cabins are very comfortable and clean. The best of the hotel is the people. All the employees from the front desk to the restaurant are very warm, and nice. Always prompt to give you the best service. We were very pleased during our stay. Thank you to Axel, Edgar, María José, Emily, Pablo and all of the employees who made our stay, wonderful!

The street near the hotel is a bit noisy.

Nice cabin & pleasant stay

- Large & spacious cabin - Quiet environment - Room was very clean and the bed confortable - Wifi is good and has a good coverage - Restaurant food was good - Safe free parking lot I would recommend this place if you wish to explore and visit Irazu Area. Very good overall Price/Service

- The little extra portative heater was broken & would have been appreciated during the cold of the night

It's a great place, very well located, food amazing, excellent customer service, and the bungalows are really awesome!!

There's no streaming device so you can only watch local tv. Could be a good idea to have live music and a fire pits in the garden for the summer nights.

Our first two nights in CR were made better by our stay and the staff at Grandpas Hotel.

I really loved the breakfast and the location is close to the volcano, the staff were bilingual which is a huge plus. The grounds are very pretty and the cabins comfortable.

There is a lot of road noise, including jake brakes from trucks. It didn't keep us awake, but it broke the peace.

Wonderful cabin close to the Volcano

Grandpas Hotel features some spacious bungalows in a very convenient location to visit Volcan Irazu. The bed and the pillows are outstanding - we had a super comfortable night! The included breakfast is excellent and the staff is very accommodating and friendly!

It would be great to have a mini fridge in the room and maybe a kettle, so one could make coffee/tea.

Superb

The bed was amazing. Best bed with great pillows that I have had so far in Costa Rica out of 9 places I've slept at. The terrein was beautiful, lovely neat garden with a view over the mountains. Good food at their restaurant.

Showers turn cold after ±7 minutes of showering. It would be nice to have coffee facilities in the room. I like to make my own hot drinks to drink at my own leasure in rooms.

Beautiful bungalows in a convenient location to visit Volcan Irazu. Most comfortable bed we have had in Costa Rica! Extra pillows and cozy comforter for the chilly night. Excellent breakfast included with a great view.

A little close to the busy road, truck noise early in the morning.

Disappointing

Great staff, very good restaurant, nice garden

Terrible noise all night from nearby road. Heavy trucks were passing by. As the cottage is not noice isolated, sleeping was quite challenging.

Amazing

We loved our stay at this hotel, it's so cozy and nice. The room was big with beautiful views at the backyard. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of options to chose. We needed to use the laundry service and the lady in the reception arranged everything for us and the guy who did the laundry was very communicative, because he had some problems while washing our stuff and he kept us updated with what was happening and did not let us to wait.

The internet was a little bit slow, but it was not super bad.

The cabin was big and cozy. It does get a little cold early in the morning but they provided good sheets. We order toom service and the food was delicious same goes for breakfast it was amazing. If you plan on going to the irazu volcano this is a good place to spend a night rest and move on to the next destination. Is short drive to the volcano.

Welcoming and cozy hotel on our way to Irazu

Great hotel if you need to spend one night before going to visit Irazu Volcano nearby (online pre-purchased ticket required). Simple yet cozy rooms with excellent breakfast included in their restaurant. A little pricey for what it is, but again, the location can't be beat. The property grounds are well manicured and though next to a plant of some sort, offer a relaxing setting.

Amenities in the room are extremely minimal. Bottled water, coffee machine, more towels... all things that could help towards a more comfortable stay.
