Is this the right place for you? I picked this area and this home very carefully. There are lots of places in Costa Rica that look good on the internet. Most of them are as beautiful as the pictures. Even though Costa Rica is a small country, it can take a long time to get from one place to another. I looked at lots of locations. Many of the areas that try to attract your tourism dollars are in the middle of nowhere. Playa Hermosa is perfect. It's minutes from Jaco but away from the chaos. You have dozens of restaurants to choose from, loads of nightlife, a fancy casino, and every activity imaginable a short ride away.. And it's all right here on the Pacific ocean.
If you have any questions about travel to Costa Rica, I am happy to answer them.
In this hacienda we host families, friends, and company get-togethers. Casa Espana is a luxury home within a gated community. It's not for bachelor parties. Only the guests registered with the guards and us at the gate are allowed on the property.

The house was the perfect size for 12 of us. Mellisa was wonderful. She decorated the house for my niece's birthday when we arrived and had the house full of groceries fror us and a special treat. She also set up the chefs who were awesome. Small problems that didn't bother us to much were the toilet didn't work in the guess house, every shower in the main house had temperature differences, some had no hot water, some had no cold water. The pool bathroom didn't work, the jets in the hot tub didn't work. The BIG PROBLEMS that made sleeping difficult was the termite and COCKROACH problem. Termites were so bad that every morning my son woke up covered in debris. I had a large cockroach run across my hand in bed and there were more in my parents bedroom. I could not sleep knowing cockroaches were climbing on me at night. We could deal with the mechanical issues but should get some sort of refund for the bugs. I ended up sleeping in long pants, long-sleeved shirt, socks and a mask so I would feel cockroaches crawling on me at night.

This was the perfect house for my family ages from 4 to 88 years old. The cleanliness exceeded our expectations'. We saw more wildlife from Casa de Espana then any of the various tours that we took. We saw macaws, toucans, Motmots, and monkeys, without leaving the neighborhood, and much more. Melissa was wonderful in helping to secure a chef for my sons' engagement party. It was spectacular. We did have one room without working A.C. and the shower in that room didn't work so my guests had to share a shower. The toilet was not working in that room when we arrived but my son in law repaired it. I read about these problems in the review, so I was not surprised just disappointed the problems had not been resolved since I read the review. The minor discomforts didn't keep us from enjoying our stay. I highly recommend staying here. If you need anything, just ask Melissa. She is most accommodating and will make your vacation stress free. Thank you Loryl for the use of your magnificent home.

Our stay was magnificent the weather was great the house is very close to the beach within 6 minutes away . Beds are very comortable. Ubers are readily available
Andrey the property manager was great! Helpful, personable, speaks great English, very knowledgeable about the area, animals, flora. Andrey was available at any time we had a question. Ty to Edgar and Jonathon for driving us as a group wherever our plans took us.

A gated community close enough to Jaco we could easily Uber to restaurants, stores, etc. We felt very safe there. The pool was a big hit. And Andrey and Edgar were fantastic! Andrey planned all our activities for us and Edgar took us everywhere we wanted to go. The chef was also fantastic but we only used him one night and cooked for ourselves the rest of the time. It was a wonderful and memorable vacation in a beautiful place!

Would not stay again
The host that met with us, Andre, was amazing. He did what he could to meet our needs; however, the property needed a lot and was not okay. The property manager met our concerns by trying to gaslight us. One of the a/c were out in the main house (one in guest house but that was fixed). The one that was out was in the main living space where we gathered and she told us “I’m sure you guys are more than comfortable.” It was not comfortable. Food could not be left on counters because of the bugs. We were told this was Costa Rica and accepted it and kept the food up. But then we were met with a swarm of bugs in the master bedroom. The whole nest came alive when the rain started and left bugs all over our personal items. Could not even sleep in the beds. There were multiple leaks in the roof that leaked on the beds and floor. Again, personal items were leaked on too. The kitchen windows allowed water to come in and flooded the counter tops so much that it leaked over the floor. Other concerns that we kind of just dealt with were the fridge did not cool properly, the pool bathroom was not functional, and some of the toilets did not work (cleaning lady blamed us), the grill was not functional (the previous tenants broke this and new one was supposedly on its way from U.S.). We were never informed on all the things that were broken until we showed up and at that point, had no other choice but to stay. The house was gorgeous but with the leaks, bugs, and a/c being out, it was completely uncomfortable!!

Great house
Our stay was really good. We had some issues with the AC in guest house for 2 days. It was an inconvenience. Taken care of. Leak in downstairs bedroom for days. Was not fixed even when we left. Water pressure was not good. We dealt with it and still had a good time. Would rent again. Andrey was awesome 🤩

Pura Vida!
Wonderful week getaway at Casa de Espana. The pool was a major highlight as we hit it almost daily before venturing out for our activities. Location is great, private yet secure. Spacious house and then the added casita was a bonus--- my teenagers stayed there and loved having their own private space. Two thumbs up. Plus, Andrey, the local contact was helpful, available and a great added asset to the house. Daily housekeeping was also a nice commodity. Highly recommend!

Nice location. Great pool
All in all our family week was great. GROUNDS:The house was good for the number of people we had-15. The kids loved the pool and spent many hours in it.
The location was adequate, but don't expect it to be close to a swimmable beach. Jaco is the closest best beach for kids.
The little market down the street is good for snacks, drinks, and small staples.
The quard at the entrance is very attentive and takes his job.seriousely so you feel safe.
HOUSE: The beds are comfortable but linens are really worn.
AC: Two units did not work, they fixed one and promised to replace othe other but they never materialized. That was frustrating.
Kitchen: we had a chef in each night that was phenomenal! Thank goodness because the pots and pans were also old, scratched and worn that I'm not sure how I could have used them. Many of the plastic glasses were cracked so they leaked.
Water pressure is a huge issue often leaving soapy hair and half finished showers. I was told this was to be expected. So we dealt with it and chalked it up to the CR experience.
One of the best parts of the house is Audrey. We used his services for so many excursions and all but the fishing was great. He genuinely cares about his visitors and wishes to make the vacation memorable.
All in all we enjoyed the house but it does need alot of updating and minor repairs. New pots and pans, glasses, and outdoor furniture, (as the rattan was in shambles and very uncomfortable) would make a huge difference. I think people would pay a bit more for a more updated house-that has awesome potential!

Luxury Secluded Beach house: Disappointing
We arrived at the beautiful home and were excited. The setting, the location, the pool, the interior ambiance were all just as we had hoped for.
We were met by the property manager, who was enthusiastic, and friendly. But in reality he was eagerly trying to sell us tours and activities. Once he realized we already had all taken care of he was almost never heard from again..
OK the problems. The house is old and the appliances are uniformly bad. Washer drying would leave clothes wet and grease stained. The kitchen sink leaked and in the morning you would have water all over the kitchen floor. The fridge would not get cold enough and things like ice cream just melted in the freezer. The plumbing was poor even for CR standards. (I've lived in CR for 15 years and know you can get good stuff down there if you want it.) A few of the showers barely sprayed and when they did spray since there were not shower curtains the bathroom floors got soaked.
The internet was good. The mattresses were better than expected. The furniture was nice. One of the bedrooms had no storage, no shelves, no closet so you lived out of your suitcase. The maid service was only so so. I doubt she had been trained in her duties. Be the way, be careful going up and down the stairs as the are narrow and it is easy to slip on them.
I wrote this review from a man's standpoint. I think the ladies would be more critical. All in all I give the ambiance and location a 5 star and the house condition a 2 star. December 1-10 2021. We probably would not return to this home.

Beautiful home
Our stay was to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. There were 13 of us ranging ages 6-81 and the house accommodated everyone beautifully. Andre the concierge arranged all of our excursions and meals prepared by the chef. Andre did an amazing job, the chef, Eddie was fantastic!! We had a few hiccups here and there and the owner took care of them immediately. We really appreciated their promptness.
The location of the home is close to everything and easy to navigate too. Our family had a wonderful vacation.

Amazing home
Perfect for a large gathering. We were 3 families totaling 14 and couldn't be happier with the home. Perfect location close to Jaco and Quepos, yet private and safe within a guarded community.

Awesome stay at Casa Espana
Overall, our week-long stay at Casa de Espana was amazing and our group of 13 friends had a great time. The on-site host/concierge Andrey was incredibly attentive and helpful with booking transportation and things around town. The private pool was also a big plus for our group. We did have an issue with the A/C unit in the master bedroom but it was sorted out and resolved quickly by Andrey and their team. I will note that the listing says the house is close to the beach but it is not a close or easy walk to the beach from the property. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Fishing in Costa Rica
Our group of 5 guys enjoyed our fishing trip to Costa Rica. The house has a couple of issues that if addressed will improve the experience for future guests. It rained a couple of days during our stay and that caused leaks in the smaller bedroom on the third floor, in the bathroom next to the toilet, and next to the bed in the bedroom on the second floor. We stayed four nights and only had maid service one day during our visit. Andrey, the property manager recommended a chef and the chef and his staff were excellent! They prepared and served us two dinner meals, one included fish we caught the same day. As I said, we had a good time and would recommend this property to family and friends as long as the leaking roof is repaired. The location in proximity to Jaco Beach and other attractions is very good.
Thanks,
AJ

Magical
We had two families, with seven kids total ranging in age from 8 to 14. There was plenty of room for all of us, comfortable beds and bedrooms, and the pool was perfection. The location was wonderful. We were able to enjoy slow mornings while the kids swim and we sat on the beautiful porch. And when we came home from adventures during the day, it was the perfect place to relax.Air conditioning throughout the main house and the guesthouse. We did lose power on one evening but it wasn’t out for very long.
We had rental cars and drove quite a bit, the local beach is pretty rough for swimming, so we just swam at our different adventures during the day. Plenty of great food and shops in Jaco. Tons of cyclists and pedestrians out on roads. We felt very safe. The house is beautifully designed and decorated and Had all we needed. The house keepers came a few times but we were able to do our own thing. The washer and dryer got tons of use. We did have some issues communicating with the house liaison, which was a bit frustrating, but that was the only issue. We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation.

Great Experience!
Our team had a great time at this house! It is just like the pictures. It was clean and a great location in my preference. We worked with Andrey who helped us the whole time to coordinate transportation and scheduling time with the Chef to cook us food. This was a wonderful experience!

Great House & Staff!
We had a group of 10 for a fishing vacation and stayed at Casa de Espana. The home was beautiful & very clean. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. While the home was perfect, it was a bit further from Los Suenos and Jaco than I had hoped. Excellent proximity to Playa Hermosa, however. I would absolutely stay again.

Great stay at Casa de Estansa
Our family of 12 enjoyed a wonderful stay at this property outside of Jaco. The home was lovely and unique and it was great to have the casita which added 3 bedrooms.
My only concern was that it was listed as close to the beach and it was more like 10 minutes to the closest beach and 20 to one that kids could enjoy. Overall the house exceeded our expectations and the house manager Mariciela is fantastic with exceptional recommendations. We would highly recommend the private chef she set up for us.
