Very friendly hostess always ready to help. I liked the breakfast (it is included in the stay). Excellent value for money. I liked the neighborhood: it is generally safe and quiet, unlike the city center. Walking distance to bakery and grocery stores. There is a bus stop very close to the place (buses go to the city center). I definitely will stay at the Casa Kitus next time.
Everything is good

I liked everything. Comfortable, beautiful, hospitable, in a quiet picturesque area, near several supermarkets ❤

Everything was fine! Great location and wifi, rooms are comfy and good value for money. A bus station is close so you will be in San José Center in around 15 mins. A supermarket and some restaurants near but zone is safe, I walked all evenings with no occurrences. Lily is super friendly and offers you free coffee and breakfast 😋 definitely one of my best stays in Costa Rica 🇨🇷

Already have my 3rd stay booked at Casa Kitus! Dona Lily provides a great place, very clean and secure. Loved the ample spaces available to all
It can be a bit hard to find it at first, but the google maps directions are correct (there is no sign on the door). Recommend calling and Dona Lily will ensure you get to the right spot

Everything! The owner is very friendly and really makes you feel at home! She even offered to walk me to the supermarket when I was struggling to find one. The house is big and has nice common areas inside and outside. The room is very simple but has everything you need and the mattress was comfortable. The area is residential, but you can still find places to eat just 10-15min walk away. Restaurant Lan Tien has really tasty Chinese and Taiwanese dishes and amazing sushi. Supermarket Pali is 5min walk away.

A great typical house right next to the Rio Celeste and close to the National Park. The hosts are very friendly. We had a great time.

This is a very special place, with lots of karma to be released. If you want to test yourself or have an adventure i recommend this place, it's best location in San Jose, very quiet and 2 nice parks nearby to make sports. It's better for a long stay, you can use kitchen and the host is very nice and friendly. You will enjoy your time there if your mind is open and you are ready to pass the karmic test.

I liked absolutely nothing about this place.
1. The host woman was unfriendly right from the get go. Never tried to translate anything in google. (She is in front of her phone all day, she knows how to translate)
2. After a few days she told me I can not use the washing machine more than once a day!!! It is too expensive for her. If I do she charges me 5 $ (USD). Let that sink please. She offers a washing machine. It is officially pictured in the booking.com website. This is a 1st class insult.
3. She never cleaned the bathroom that I used. Not once in 14 days.
4. I had a bathroom that other people also used. Even her construction workers which is the next point.
5. She had construction workers in the house almost every day at every point in the house. It was not possible to sit anywhere with the notebook and do some work without acoustic terror!
They even walked and stomped on the roof. They screamed through the house instead of walking up to each other and then talk in an acceptable tone. And when they ran through the house, this host women ran after them, also shouting all the time.
She was ZERO respectful!
6. She smashed the bathroom door next to my room every time she used it. SMASH not close.
7. Her construction workers used my bathroom, not hers.
8. She came up with excuses that it is rain season and that the roof had to be repaired. This is totally made up. One can do that prior to the season.
10. I made a video where one of her private hired workers hammered on a shelf at 8 am in the front yard, a completely redundant work that could have been done somewhere else or at another
time. It was impossible to sleep.
11. There was mold in the bathroom.
12. Every day I had to wake up at the same time this woman started her day, because it was so loud.
Or the workers drilled holes into walls, which had nothing to do with the rain. Same like hammering on the shelf.
13. The room was stinky, same for the fridge.
14. The behavior of this woman is totally off.
15. I payed for 1 month, left after 14 days

Sra. Lilia is charming. It is nice and a clean place to stay with a secure room with windows you can leave open all day. The entire place is ground level, so no walking up and down stairs. She gives you keys to your room and the entrance. TV and work desk in my room. Depending on the day, she provides French Bread, cheese, fruit and coffee for breakfast. If you desire bigger meals, there are many "Sodas" in the area and the Pali supermarket about 4 blocks away. You can make your own meals. Kitchen. Great refrigerator and stove. Use of the washing machine - gratis.
There is a patio area near the entrance and an open air garden area off the living room.
Although every house in the Llorente area has gates and bars on windows, it doesn't feel prisonesque. Most of the window bars are ornate and have a Euro feel to them. The neighborhood is safe during the day. I'm wary of most everyplace at night, so I was only out for a short time after dark. With my backpack on and still no problems. I think downtown locations are not as safe as this area.
Bus to the city is right around the corner and costs 320 colones. Really good price. If you want to take a taxi or walk about a mile, the Incofer train goes quite a long distance up to Alajuela and south. Nice inexpensive small train. Worth riding just to see what is out there along the way.
That my trip was over and I had to leave. :)

My own room. Was a nice quiet area.
My room backed onto the back patio and a man talked loudly on his phone their at 1 am in the morning. So there needs to be rules around noise after a certain hour. Also neighbours barking dogs at 6am at joggers going by..

the lady of the house is very nice, she was very welcoming, I paid 18$ for a small single room, which was a very good price
I didn’t expect a lot for this price, but I was positively surprised. The location is also not that far outside, 6min Uber drive and you are in the center
one idiotic man woke me up twice because he was talking on the phone with speaker at 2am and also at 6am he was talking in the hallway - the walls are thin so you here everything.
the bathroom could have been cleaner.

The best place to stay I've visited in Costa Rica, and one of best in my life. I felt like home, everything was perfect! Definetely recommend.

Friendly staff
The bed was extremely uncomfortable and I could feel the springs. Beautiful neighborhood but boring- no walkable dining. Breakfast was coffee and a baguette- nothing more. "Breakfast included" is deceptive.

i book a hotel in the wrong country.
However I am getting on I asked booking. com and the hotel for a refund.
But both refused to offer anything.

Nice place for a good price. I had my own room, hot showers, a place to cool and store food, many places to hang out and sit around the house, laundry service, close to supermarket, silent area.
The television was very loud and there was bo sound isolation in my room, so the TV was very annoying if I tried to sleep. Sometimes the TV was turned on at 8am or they started working on the roof really early without warning.

For me, the location was excellent. It is not downtown (so it's quiet, with no traffic noise), and there is, very close, a good bus service to downtown. Also, there is a branch of Auto Mercado only 10 mins walk away (best quality supermarket in CR, owned by Costa Rican company). Even closer is a branch of Pali (cheapest supermarket, but owned by Walmart).
I am 80 years old, and I am not in love with having people talking on mobile phones all around - which is the way of the world these days. So, at Casa Kitus, the noise of the owner, Lilia, constantly talking loudly on her mobile phone stressed me. She is from Ecuador originally, and has many family members there, plus two daughters living 'phone-distance' away. So she spends much time on her mobile, talking to them all - because she is a loving person. But the problem for that is me: I am addicted to quietness because I am mostly studying Spanish, and reading newspapers in Spanish, so I like quietness for concentration. I haven't adapted to the noise of mobile phone lovers.

Lilia is superfriendly and always tries to help. Leaving luggage there after check-out was absolutely no problem. The kitchen was well-equippee and I could even use the washing machine to wash my clothes. The area is quiet and safe d easy to reach by bus. It's nice to also meet other travelers there.
It doesn't have a system to mark your food, so it happened more than once that thwy just threw my food away without asking. She is superfast at cleaning and tidying up, so sometimes personal items like towels put to dry would just disappear. The walls were really thin so I could hear the person in the room next to me snoring.
