About this house rental
The Half Door is a cosy cottage brimming with character in a fantastic location in the heart of Doolin, County Clare. It is set back off the main road in a tranquil setting, yet only a stones throw from all the action. The Half Door is featured in the Rick Steve's guide books and described as "the coziest place around."
There are four double ensuite rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a large dining/living room & separate sitting room with stove and smart TV. Ample off road parking and a south facing garden to relax in. The newly refurbished sitting room has large exposed beams in the ceiling, a window seat beside the stove to curl up on and relax, a 50" smart TV and comfortable leather furniture to sink into. The open plan dining/living room is surrounded with windows and has a patio door that open onto the south facing garden, There is rattan furniture, a well stocked book shelf and a DVD player and selection of DVD's. The large dining table can accommodate eight people comfortably. There is also a mini wine bar and service counter beside the dining table.
The kitchen is off the dining/living room and has a galley kitchen with loads of cupboard space, a gas hob with electric oven, George Forman grill, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and all the kitchen utensils required. The kitchen leads out to an enclosed service yard.
All four bedrooms have their own private bathroom and seating area. One bedroom is on the ground floor and can be made up as either a super king double bed or two single beds. There are three bedrooms on the first floor. Two rooms have a double bed and the third room has two single beds. There is a large Velux window on the landing upstairs with a table and chairs under the window that provides an extra light filled that is ideal for a workspace.
The Half Door was run as a B&B starting in 2008 and began offering self catering in 2020. Our accomodations are aimed at families and seasoned travellers.

Half door cottage was pristine, beautiful, and so well located. It is right across the street from the local pub, that performed live music each night and was packed with life. Walking around the countryside and down to the pier was spectacular. The cottage, with 4 bedrooms was well stocked and very comfortable, next time we would stay longer.

Very spacious house for 4 adults. Perfect location to walk to pubs. Only reason no 5 rating -walls floors a bit thin so if you are not first one up you can here everyone else in kitchen. Maybe rubber stoppers on kitchen cabinets would help to prevent slamming sound

Had a great stay. The place was clean and comfortable. So very close to everything in town. Walking distance to a great bar with live music and good food.

The property was well maintained and overall really wonderful place to stay. It is close to everything and if you are hiking the cliff trail out from Doolin it is a 20 min walk to the start of the hike and you pass little cafes. You can stay here and really enjoy walking everywhere you need to go. Plus there are local beaches and bays that are just a close drive away. We enjoyed hiking all day and then cleaning up and going to the different bars to listen to live music.
Our situation was rare for the owner. It was winter when we went and a big storm just hit Ireland. The oil for heating got mixed with water so when we arrived the heat was not working. The owner was so accommodating and sent people to figure out to see if they can fix it. I felt that they were extremely generous and flexible to work with and make sure we were comfortable. They have a space heater that worked out really well in the living room when we wanted to hang out in a communal space and we moved it to the bedroom when we were ready to sleep. The weather was not so cold so we learned that with the space heater we really were able to warm up the room and then turn it off after an hour or so. The neighbor came by to make sure we knew where that was and to try and turn the regular heat on.
I share this because I think it is really good to know that the owners are responsive, generous and flexible. They are all around great people with a wonderful network of people in the area. I would definitely go back.

Property was very clean, spacious, with room for a group or family to separate into different areas, as well as a nice kitchen and large dining space. Easy walk to the center of Doolin, with a pub and cafe located close by. Very quiet location, with plenty of parking.

We were mostly very happy with the Half-Door House. The rooms were great and the house provided a great location for our stay in the Doolin area. The floors could have been a little cleaner and shower temperature a little warmer, but overall things were fine. I would go back there without hesitation.
