About this cottage rental
Cottage is toasty warm with furnace and wood burning stove. Many activities in the area: skating on the lake or in town, snowshoeing almost anywhere, cross country skiing on groomed trails nearby, downhill skiing in Huntsville or Barrie. Well ploughed roads. A winter wonderland!
This beautiful vacation getaway captures the essence of Muskoka. It features a beautiful cottage with an amazing view of the lake and easy water access on a private wooded property with 150 feet of water frontage. Perfect for swimming, boating, and relaxing with family!
The cottage provides spectacular panoramic south-west views of the lake. Its an open concept design with high, vaulted, cedar ceilings, pine walls and huge windows overlooking the dock and lake. The fully equipped kitchen is open to the dining area and includes a dishwasher, large fridge, microwave, coffee-maker and drinking-water dispenser. An air-tight woodstove is in the corner of the sitting area and is delightful on cooler evenings.
The beautiful master bedroom overlooks the lake and has a walkout to a private deck. It has a sitting area and an ensuite with soaker tub and shower. The second bedroom on the main level also has a walkout to a private deck and the third bedroom on the main floor has twin beds perfect for the kids. The fourth bedroom has bunk beds and is on the lower level adjacent to a family room with a walkout to the water and a full bathroom complete with laundry.
There is a very large deck overlooking the lake complete with patio set for family meals and a propane BBQ. Off the deck is a large fully screened in Muskoka room with a patio set and table, perfect for family meals or relaxing with friends or a good book.
Another highlight of this property is the variety of indoor and outdoor places people may choose to go, for example, to be with groups of friends, or to enjoy quieter conversations and activities such as playing cards, or to spend time alone quietly working on a puzzle. Deck chairs are provided on the cottage deck and the dock by the water for relaxing or a nap in the sun.
The swimming is fantastic! The lake is deep right from the dock and shallow from the separate flat walk in area. The fishing is also great - you just have to find the secret places...

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful cottage! It was clean, there was so much space, and the fact that the water was relatively deep off the dock made for some awesome swimming! The sunset views from the dock were stunning, and the gated off deck was perfect for our pup. If you are looking for shallow swimming this isn’t the best spot - but the swimming for us was perfect!!!! We will definitely look to come back. Host was also very responsive. Cottage itself was lovely and we loved the screened part of the deck for the one rainy night we got. There was a spot for everything!

Fabulous stay. Had an issue with water pressure but owners were put there right away and fixed it right away.
Will go back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in every way and will try to rent it again next summer. The only problem we had was with VRBO. I had been looking on a Site "Ontario Cottage Rentals" VRBO seeing that, came to me. After I had chosen this cottage on the VRBO site I was shocked to find out the price was in US $s when I rec'd my MC statement. You need to indicate what currency you are dealing in. I would naturally assume that the price was in Canadian! I won't use VRBO again because of this.

Our family of 8 had a great time for our fourth consecutive year. The lake is very nice and close to Gravenhurst. The cottage and amenities are excellent and very clean.
We hope to return for a fifth year.

The cottage was beautiful and very clean not to mention Martin answered any questions I had almost immediately after I texted him. The water/ view was amazing and we loved the canoe that came with it. Only issue was the fire pit had no seating and the cottage doesn’t come with sheets or towels other than that 10/10 would recommend!

This place gave the perfect cottage feel with the lakefront and the deck. Martin is super responsive to any questions you may have, which is great! The reason for not giving a perfect 5 star overall rating is only because there was a small issue with the water supply although Martin was quick to resolve it. Overall, we really enjoyed staying here.

Only concerns were no kettle , no tv for grandkids ,
no curtains in master bedroom so up every morning at sunrise. Nice having 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
Everything else was great.
Would recommend this property. Likely try to rent next year.

Amazingly charming property with a real cottage feel. The deck is massive and hangs over Muldrew Lake. The open concept kitchen and living room was great for hanging out in with the wood stove burning. Wifi was fast, property was clean, and Martin was attentive to our needs when I messaged him. Great property for a family getaway of with a group of couples. Will definitely book this again.

The kitchen was large and stocked. Great for a large amount of people. It's big. Three bathrooms are nice. I loved that the fireplace was set up to easily use. The view is nice. And quiet in the winter. It's pretty run down, but would be very good for a large group of people who are there to join together and cook and socialize. The wifi was fine after we reset it.
I arrived from Vancouver, and some of my family from Michigan and Toronto. Bringing sheets and towels was a chore. I was excited to see the Cottage as the pictures showed, but most of the knick knacks and books shelves (comfort decorations) have been removed. There were beds, and a picture in each room. Very little cozy decor as shown in the photo's. There were no curtains in the main suite I was putting my Aunt and Uncle in, which was a concern.
The lower level was musty and hard to bear. Communication was infrequent with the owner. I booked
after Christmas and paid $1850 for three nights. I Paid more and felt like i got less. I had to enter through a kitchen window because I received no response to a request for check-in instructions until after the check in window had lapsed. (There was an unlocked window off the deck with the screen out which seemed to be the exit and entrance of more then just myself).
The bedding was old, there was dog hair sticking out of the wood floor by the couch. The main bedroom bathroom shower door was broken with a note on how to use it otherwise.

We stayed at Martin’s place in October so can’t comment about swimming or shade availability. We can tell you that the primary cottage living space is on the second floor (kitchen, dining, living, 3 berms, 2 baths and access to deck and Muskoka room) and that this elevation is great for a view of the water and trees. Heat works well, water pressure in showers great but not in kitchen sink. Internet is spotty and listing does say this. Could have been issue for some of our family if we were there for more than a long weekend. We had our dogs w us and they loved the space in front of the cottage (long driveway) but didn’t like fact there wasnt shallow water access (worked for us because wet dogs in October is an issue unto itself). All in all, a great stay. What was read in listing was what was received.

We absolutely loved our stay. So tranquil. The rental was spotless. All kitchen cupboards were stocked with all the dishes, utensils, pots and pans you could ask for. The owner was very responsive and did everything making our first VRBO experience seamless. Have booked again for nex5 year.

Perfect spot for a family get away

Our family of 8 adults and 2 children all had the best time enjoying the cottage and lake. The setting is beautiful and the cottage has all amenities, including lots of deck/dock space and screened porch.
Our week passed much too quickly for us! We intend to return.

Beautiful clean cottage. Would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues or with children, as stairs are steep to the cottage and from the cottage to the dock. Large deck but wood is old. We had to keep the baby off the deck due to screws sticking out where the wood had rotted. You cannot sit on the floating dock as boat traffic was frequent and too close for our liking. Nice view and sunsets. Gorgeous screened-in porch. Great place to just relax.

Excellent property
The cottage was very good
My family of 6 adults and 2 children under 8 were very happy with everything
The cottage was very spacious and had lots of room to take some time for yourselves or to gather with all quests
The screened in porch was amazing for that time of the day when the bugs were out
We even caught some big fish right off the dock
Over all the week was fantastic

Amazing views!
We had a wonderful time at this cottage with our family and we’re so happy with the deck especially! It had two gates which helped since we had a puppy with us. The cottage was in beautiful condition! Thank you, Martin!

Great vacation on Muldrew Lake
We enjoyed our second stay at Martin's very clean. spacious cottage with all amenities overlooking Muldrew Lake, which we have booked again for next summer. We made lots of use of the deck and screened in porch after spending much of the day jumping from the dock into the water and using our kayaks and SUP.

Wonderful Fall Getaway
Spent a week at this beautiful location. It was just what the doctor ordered. For most our week there were just 2 of us, but we did have another couple come up for a few days. The space was perfect for us. It was a great layout for an intimate stay or a group getaway.

Cozy comfortable cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our almost two week stay at Martin’s cottage in early September. We brought kayaks, paddle boards and used their canoe to enjoy the mostly calm lake. We dove in off the dock every day and played games on the deck where we also took in the gorgeous sunsets. We also walked a 5 km road loop almost every day. The biking is a good workout as well! We will definitely be back!

Lovely cottage on a lovely lake
The cottage had everything you needed to enjoy cottage life. No complaints about the cottage at all. It was spacious (not like typical cottages), views were great and it came well equipped. Not an ideal set up for dogs however and pictures of grass area was misleading as owner has covered it all with gravel. Taking them out to do their business wasn’t fun as often had to go to the road. Also, 2/3 of dock is floating and with a lot of boat traffic, it wasn’t particularly fun to sit on. The dogs hated it so unfortunately they didn’t hang out on dock with us like our last cottage. But overall, if you didn’t have a dog, this cottage was great and highly recommend it.

Amazing Family Holiday!
We enjoyed a perfect week with our family at Martin’s cottage. Great location to Gravenhurst! A beautiful view, the open concept layout and large deck overlooking Muldrew Lake made it special. Martin responded to any emails quickly and the check-in process was easy. Thank you for a wonderful family holiday!

A week at Muldrew Lake
A really nice cottage, spacious and light-filled. The kitchen was well-appointed. The deck is generous with awesome views down the lake and across to a granite island. Cosy screen porch, and the dock has a good sunset view. We would certainly consider booking again.
The only complain would be the canoe, which was missing a seat, and a couple of kayaks would be a welcome addition.

Great location!
The cottage is great. All of the things you would expect in a cottage. We will definitely look at coming back.

Wonderful cottage experience
Martin's cottage and Muldrew Lake were a perfect fit for our three generation family, with the youngest being 4 and 6 years of age. We visited the last week of June and spent considerable time jumping off the dock and swimming across to the island. We brought kayaks and a stand up paddle board for the adults and an inflatable dinghy for the small kids.
The cottage had all the amenities we needed so we were very comfortable and really enjoyed the screened in porch in the evenings. We brought a selection of DVD's for the young grandchildren and enjoyed some family movie time later in the evenings for the rest of us. The cottage is spacious and very clean. Our entire family hopes to return!

A classic cottage feel with an amazing view! What a great week away from the city.

Lovely cottage with amazing views
Everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Cottage hovers right over the water; and nothing across from the cottage but rocks and trees. Very 'Group of Seven' views. Remember to bring your own sheets, towels and pillow cases! Note: only 1 channel on the TV, so bring books and movies (there is a blu ray player). Wifi is good, but no streaming Netflix. Martin is very available and helpful. Highly recommend this rental.

3 Generation Muskoka Cottage Vacation
Overall my family enjoyed the cottage. 3 bathrooms were great. Master bedroom spacious with large ensuite. Window coverings would have been helpful. My young grandchildren were challenged by the dock and water access as was I. Screened in porch was wonderful. Beautiful sunsets. Quiet and peaceful .

Multi-Family Getaway
Muldrew Lake cottage was wonderful! We were two families with kids, so 8 people total. The lake was wonderful and the swimming was non-stop. The water was warm, and jumping off the dock was a favorite pastime. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed to prepare our meals. We were there during a heat wave, so it was fairly warm in the cottage (no A/C) but there were ceiling fans everywhere, and a few portable fans, to keep the air moving. The deck and Muskoka room were wonderful and were larger than expected. The cottage is built on the Shield, and as such the basement is pretty musty, we ended up not being able to use the basement bedroom as the smell was difficult for the kids to deal with; likely parents wouldn’t want to sleep there either if they have any breathing sensitivities. A minor thing, but some of the doors were pretty squeaky, which made it hard to be quiet at night while the kids slept. The morning we left we made sure to take care of all the garbage, but to our surprise, on our way out, we noticed some torn up garbage bags outside of the waste box at the road; somebody had snuck their garbage into it sometime between garbage day and the day we left. The garbage box is damaged, and animals were able to pull the bags out of it and make a really good mess for us to clean up as we were pulling out.
Overall it was a great trip, with only a few small negatives of note.

Gravenhurst Gem!
Our experience at Martin’s cottage was nothing less than spectacular. From the spacious and numerous sitting areas (cards and games around the kitchen table, meals on the deck, sunny afternoons on the dock, protection from evening mosquitos in the screened in porch), to the fully stocked kitchen, to the magnificent dockside view of Muldrew Lake, this cottage did not disappoint! Martin was quick to respond to emails and the check in process was very smooth. My only hesitation in leaving such a glowing review is that this won’t be our family’s little secret anymore! :) Thank you for a wonderful stay and we hope to return again.
