Charming and well located
Be prepared...towels are NOT provided

It is a lovely cottage, with the warming charm of an old house. There is plenty of space and two bathrooms! We loved the chimney and had a great time there. We would definitely come back again!
If you are much into cooking you will perhaps miss some kitchenware (like sharp knifes, big cooking pot). But this is nothing to complain!

Location and general charm of the building, with nice views of fields.
Staff helped us find a local mechanic.
House needs a good deep clean (not due to us) i.e. we had to clean the kitchen before we used it (dirty utensiles from previous guests, evidence of mice, washing machine mouldy, etc), bathrooms need repair and un-blocking drains as shower floods (not caused by us), outside area is messy (not caused by us).
The check-in process was rushed and mixed up, staff in a hurry and dumped us with keys. Not the warmest if welcomes!

location
beds were uncomfortable

love the location, and how quiet and peaceful it is
the bed in the main bedroom very noisy and not very comfortable and could do with darker curtains as gets very light very early

I liked the old cottage and surroundings.
I feel there are many improvements to be made in the property and In the gardens.
The steps to the garden need making safe.
The kettle needed a good descale.

Not Applicable. It was self catering for which we had arranged ourselves an appropriate delivery of supplies for the early evening of our arrival.
We stayed for 1 night in this property. While the property has a rustic feel, it has the following issues 1- One of the radiators in the bedroom did not work and it was cold. and damp.(Mould was growing on the walls). I registered a formal complaint with the landlord with the issues numbered. The landlord did not show much intent to resolve the following issues 2-All surfaces were grubby and it was obvious that the property had not been cleaned at all prior to our arrival 3- The kitchen sink leaked and we had to manage the leakage. 4- The plumbing needs work as it was hard to deal with big temperature fluctuation's 5- The landlord showed no intent to fix anything ,anytime and his communication was terse via his manager's texts. 6- To name a few upsetting sights on our arrival (Photo's were taken) hairs on bedroom, bathroom surfaces, rizla papers left on the bed in bedroom number one, half eaten biscuit found on inside of bed, spare duvet cover unusable, damp and all furniture had heavy dust collection, woodlouse casings in several rooms. 7 - The outside area is outright dangerous, scattered unusable equipment with sharp edges, dangerous unlevel exit steps to the garden. 8- Both Bathroom mats wet, cobwebs in utility areas. We didn't and could not sleep in such an unhygenic environment at all on our one night night of occupancy. We had elderly relatives and a 4 year old a daughter we did not want exposed to this appalling environment. 9- The above is just the half of what we encountered. It was suggested we leave before 11am the next morning if 'as we feel' in the words of the property manager the property is unfit for purpose. We did leave the property before 11am and not a moment to soon. In summary, I would suggest this property is not fit for purpose and should be removed from booking.com immediately.

Location perfect, cottage looked the part. Clean bedding,
Inside was a hotchpotch, needs work doing, not very clean, some plug sockets not working, kettle full of lime scale, needs a good tidy up outside in the garden, there were broken deck chairs and a broken falling apart bench, a shed that is falling down and the glass could easily fall out on you. Old bbqs with holes in, rubbish broken bits and bobs at the side of the cottage.

The trips I had already booked in the surrounding areas of Bath..
Both toilets blocked (same review from 2016 from another family, so obviously a problem not tended to) Not suitable for children.. Photos need updating, BBQ rotten as wooden bench, No trampoline as indicated, slab uneven out back (grandchild fell) First aid all out of date. Bugs galore in bedroom.. Flooring filthy.. Owner rude when approached about the overflowing toilets 😡, thought we obviously blocked it with kitchen roll or wipes, as the note was left for us.. kitchen roll seen was to clean the wet flooding from the toilets and the wipes to cleanse our hands and happily put in bin. Log burner a large open crack on glass door, as asked to burn combustibles (imagine my horror when I saw the fire 🔥 roaring and the glass cracked).. Kitchen smelt of gone off milk, another review left from another family quoting the same (look behind the fridge like we did 🫣) Thank god for the trips we had planned... I can safely say I will not be staying there again... House Manager was very approachable, owners NIL... Money needs to be put back into the cottage....

The position of the house was very convenient. And the host was very welcoming and helpful. The house had everything we needed for a short stay and suited us well.
I'm afraid there were hairs in one of the shower plugholes, which was unpleasant and I felt it could have done with a really good spring clean.
3.4
House full of character, however bathrooms ' tired'. Kitchen cupboards needed a proper spring clean. We had to re wash all plates, utensils and saucepans prior to re use. I had to throw away mouldy clementines from the cupboard and opened part used bread loaf.
See above- also the radiators did not work. Bedrooms really cold

A small village, but within walking distance of fascinating Rode.
I have got used to a memory foam mattress is all! Sharing a spring mattress was a restless experience whenever my husband turned over 🤣

Location is good, stay is basic/ not great, host not great and uncontactable. Have tried to contact numerous times since the stay with no response or acknowledgement.
Wouldn't recommend..........

When it came to check in, the host wasn't contactable. Waited going on 2 hours for a response and incurred additional costs to source different accommodation given lack of response and communication. Tried to resolve directly with the host however emails are being ignored. Key for the property is also left in an obvious location which adds concerns about security. Wouldn't recommend. Not clean

The cottage is locate din a lovely country side, it is quiet peaceful and so lovely !
The house is historical and very confortable and charming.
Mrs. Pauline was very kind and was responding very fast to our request.
We will be back.
It's humid in the sleeping rooms. But it's fine.

The cottage was next to a cow field which was very entertaining. Beautiful location and the cottage oozes character with the wooden floorboards, exposed beams and decor.
There was plenty to use to help make our stay enjoyable with fully kitted our kitchen and variety of board games to choose from. The living accommodation upstairs was very comfortable and suited a family of 6.
The hosts were helpful and gave us a tour of house on arrival.
Excellent value for money
The bedrooms being downstairs did feel damp and being an old house did smell quite musty. There were quite a few woodlouse around in bathroom and bedrooms.

Lovely cottage. Nice to have the cows visit everyday in the field next to the cottage. Very relaxing stay nice selection of games and books etc to keep us entertained. Welcoming owners helped us with a few queries

Location was very handy for us for visiting family in the area plus a nice selection of local attractions. The cottage kitchen was very well stocked and the local guide folder very informative. The house has great potential but also sadly a few issues (detailed below).
Sadly the house needs fumigating. Curtains and carpets had moths, silverfish found in bed and on two nights we had an influx of large darkling beetles (probably mealworm beetles) in the main bedroom and ensuite. Often found a wood beetle or two in the beds too (likely from the woodworm in old wooden fittings). Window in the bunk bed (child's) room does not open so cannot ventilate and the whole downstairs bedroom area is very damp. Extractors don't work in either bathroom (both windowless). Outside vegetation around the house is very overgrown and in the garden (just needs a trim!), one wall of the property was stacked with old crates, pallets, gas canisters and hidden behind them were garden toys in poor condition. The garden at least should have been left a bit nicer, considering we have a child and especially as Booking.com advertised it to us as "family-friendly". Generally, the property would be great if these issues could be fixed and we have some sympathy for the owners that some of this would be costly. However, for a property of £150 a night, much of this is simply not acceptable and we would likely have found somewhere else to stay mid-holiday had places not been booked up.

The hosts are so warm friendly and kind. The log burner and garden are amazing and there is a wonderful farm shop full of everything you need just minutes away

We needed a place to self isolate for 14 days due to UK covid regulations so we chose this house in the countryside. For us this lovely house in a beautiful place ended up being a 10. The house has literally everything you need. It is very cozy. Owners are super nice. The surrounding are beautiful.
