We loved this VRBO for our Boston trip! Traffic was very reasonable in the area. The place was fully equipped for a couple nights! Not much to offer as far as a fridge, but that’s ok. Great patio space for both coffee in the morning or drinks at night! Highly recommend :)

This property was very unique. Beautiful decor. Cozy. Parking was extremely convenient. We were very comfortable here. Would definitely stay again. Thank you so much!

Wonderful. Eddie (owner) was very nice and respectful and the place was clean. The walk to the train station was like maybe 6 minutes away which was wonderful for getting around Boston. The have coffee and drinks you can buy while there, no need to grab drinks.
Definitely the place we are starting when we come back.

We had a great time at The Boiler Room! The space was so much bigger than expected and the accommodations were beautiful! My husband enjoyed a craft beer provided in the kitchenette. Here’s a few things to note (most have covered this already)- the property is NOT downtown (about a 30 min drive in traffic), but it IS close to the T. There were a few points were we felt a bit unsafe (someone crossed the street to follow us, there were people loitering in the square by the T station who called out to us, etc.) While this was the reality of the location, it did not detract from our stay and we got from point A to point B pretty easily. Back to the property. You can hear the people walking upstairs, but we got to sleep just fine without ear plugs. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and thought The Boiler Room was part of what made our first stop on our honeymoon so fun! Thanks so much for having us!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Boiler Room. Highly recommend for a place to stay in Boston.

The space was very inviting and had really good amenities. A horse were very responsive to all our needs and we would definitely stay there again! Highly recommended!

The apartment was very beautifully decorated and clean, and the hosts responded very quickly to questions before and during our stay. It was about a 10 minute walk from the train station and there were plenty of restaurants within a few-block radius so it wasn't hard to find food or get into the city. We stayed in the winter, and while the tile floors were a little chilly, the space overall was well heated.
The "kitchenette" is a bit of an exaggeration, it was just a wine fridge, coffee maker, and electric kettle, but that was enough to make tea before heading out into the city for the day. It's fine for a weekend stay but if you're planning to be staying longer it would be hard to not have at least a microwave.

We wanted to take some of the furniture home! Obviously a lot of thought went into the refurbishment, decoration and furnishing of the unit. Convenient to T and some fine dining. Super fast WiFi. Although in the city, there was some interesting wildlife; our first morning there I surprised three wild turkeys in the yard! Eddie almost seemed to read our minds when we reached out with a couple of questions. Our next stay in the Boston area we’ll definitely hope one of Eddie’s units are available.

We loved our stay here. It was quiet but close enough to downtown so we could escape the busy city streets. Eddie and Nayeli have great attention to detail and did an amazing job with the decor and layout of the unit. We noticed something new each day while we were there. The outdoor living space was so inviting. The entire property was so clean and well thought out inside and out. When we were looking for a place to stay near Boston, we were concerned about parking. If you are driving, you will have plenty of street parking in front of the house. We never had to worry about when we would get back and if we would have to walk in the cold or rain.
We will be back to visit our son who lives in Boston and hope this unit will be available when we come back out. Thank you for such a great stay!

The Boiler Room was a really special place to stay. Very clean and well decorated. The only issues for us was there really isn't a kitchen which was okay because we could make coffee in the morning and keep a few cold drinks in the small beverage refrigerator but I had thought there would be more of a kitchen. Secondly we stayed during a very cold spell in Boston. The heaters worked really well but the tile floor was icy so once we found our slippers it made a huge difference. Staying in the warmer weather would be incredible to be able to use the outdoor space. Eddie was incredibly attentive to any questions I had and we felt very safe staying there. It is really well decorated and parking is easy out front.

We can start on an up-note. The decor was beautiful, tastefully and carefully decorated. The unit was very clean, and barring the absence of a couch, comfortable, however the unit was freezing. The communication with the owners and VRBO was excellent. The owner literally got back to us in minutes. The kitchenette oh the kitchenette! What is a kitchenette? A little kitchen, right? Sadly, the owners seem not to know this. There was no sink, no stove, no refrigerator, no ice maker, no dishes or utensils of any kind. While we were there only for a weekend and there was no imperative on cooking, it would have been nice to have the option, as well as refrigeration should we bring leftovers home. Don't get me started on the no ice. The owners deliver drinks to the rooms, which is I guess why they don't offer ice, but I'm not going to order a iced water at 3 in the morning from them. None of this lack of amenities was noted in the description.
Walk a few blocks in any direction and the neighborhood was not great. It was described as being close to downtown, which it is not. It is a 10-15 walk to the train station (note my first sentence), and over 40 minutes to central Boston. We would not be comfortable walking home from the train station late at night.
Lastly, and this is for VRBO; the room rate was reasonable, but the fees and taxes ended up being more than the room rate! After all this we should have just stayed at a nice hotel in downtown Boston.
We do want to thank them for their recommendation to Coquette - an excellent French restaurant (not as close as they said it would be).

I came to Boston for 8 days while visiting from Australia and could not have picked a better place to stay. The boiler room was full of warmth and coziness and super spacious. Thanks so much for having me, I’ll definitely be back

Immediately when you see the home and property, you know the owners took time to craft the look and feel of this place. The property and room were both exceptionally clean.
The location of the room is very convenient - train and bus stations close by, and plenty of things in walkable distance.
My only mark (and I didn't even deduct stars) is that it is listed as having a kitchenette - it does not. A kitchenette implies you can at least cook something (put a microwave on the back counter by the laundry room)...but let's be real, there's so much good food in Boston you won't be cooking anything.
5/5 would come back

This was one of the nicest stays that we’ve had at a vacation rental. We rented two units: The Boiler Room and The Apartment for an extended family of 6 adults. It worked out great!! The unit was very clean and beautifully decorated. Our visit was in November, so the outdoor bar was not open, but it looked fabulous! Eddie was a great in communications and provided recommendations for the area. We visited the Ashmont Grill a short walk away and it was delicious. We highly recommend this VRBO.

Very well presented property in a nice neighbourhood. The only thing was the dehumidifier was noisy and was unable to switch off at night. Apart from that little moan everything else was super. Would recommend to friends when in Boston.

Fun and unique room to stay in. 5 minute walk to train station to be able to get into downtown Boston . Maybe 20-30 minute train ride depending on where you’re heading.
Very clean room.

Yes, we enjoyed our stay in ‘The Boiler Room’ , it is beautifully appointed, the bed is comfortable and the hosts accommodating, BUT, there are several pitfalls that need to be pointed out, it is a basement after all and some noise is to be expected from the room above but I think we were unfortunate that on three of the nights we stayed our neighbours were very heavy footed and clumsy (one morning at 5am). Our main upset was that Vrbo have on their site that there is a kitchenette, now to us that means a small kitchen (please Google -how do you define a kitchenette) there should at least be basic facilities to be able to prepare simple food, which there was not. The kitchenette in the Boiler Room has a coffee machine, a kettle, two teaspoons and 4 small cups, nowhere does it explain that you cannot prepare food. The hosts responded quickly and brought us bowls, plates and cutlery and we managed. This description needs to be clearer on the Vrbo website. The hosts have spent a great deal on making the apartment very attractive and their style very much appealed to us when we booked, if it wasn’t for the lack of food preparation this apartment would have been perfect.

You can clearly tell a lot of thought and effort went into this rental! Love how clean and cute everything was!! The backyard is adorable and offers many things! Would stay here again!! Only downfall if you’re in the boiler room, you can hear everything from the floor above you, so if you’re not an early riser- you may get woken up! Other than that! Had an amazing time :) Would stay here again! Hosts are amazing and respond timely!

This was the coolest place. The layout was great, it was super quiet and such a creative way to make the entire space it’s own adventure with the backyard area too. Denise was so sweet and the Romos were super responsive. I can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful basement room
Loved the space we stayed in. Very clean, comfy, and well decorated. The host was amazing, friendly, and hospitable. Also loved the backyard space available to sit and have a drink and relax after a long day of exploring. The only downside about the stay was the surrounding area in which the house was located. No issue with the house and direct street it was on but if you plan to use the T for getting around be aware while it is a short 10min walk the area to get to it is not the nicest and doesn't feel the safest at night, especially if you're alone. Luckily no one messed with us, but if we found ourselves out past 9 we paid extra for a cab/uber. And we did feel safe in the house itself. Also, be aware you are on the bottom floor of a 3 story home so you will hear the floor above you but it really isn't that bad. Other than those 2 things, the space was amazing and we were very satisfied with our stay.

Location was great, property clean and inviting and Eddie the host was very personable and informational. I highly recommend staying at the Romo's!

Exploring Boston
We found the multicultural ambiance of the 'boiler room' to be relaxing and restorative after our days exploring historic Boston and the Cape. Probably the most interesting decor of those where we've stayed. Hosts equipped the room to meet all needs and much more. Very interesting book collection, too. Definitely 5☆. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Beautiful! Clean! Kind hosts!
My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights for our 20th anniversary. It was one of the most beautifully decorated homes we have ever stayed in. So clean, and well kept. This home is built in the 1800’s, so just understand that being in the basement you will hear some people walking and talking upstairs. It didn’t bother us at all. The shower is so nice! Very hot water.
The host also leaves local craft beer and wine for you to purchase. We appreciated this very much, especially after walking all day. However, it is also a close walk to some nice restaurants, a 7-11 and a liquor store. Oh! And a great coffee place called Ripple, right near the Ashmont T Station (which we used every day).
Eddie was a wonderful host. We only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the patio like we intended.
Lastly, the bed was comfortable and the room has mini-splits to keep it the right temp. A+, would recommend! Will return when we are able.
Thank you for hosting us! We appreciate you!

Lovely stay in the Boiler Room
My husband and I had a great Boston vacation. The Boiler Room was very clean and surprisingly spacious. The property is fairly close to the train station but I suggest renting a car or using a car service especially when arriving or departing with all your luggage. The unit is in the basement of the house and noise from the floor above can be loud at times but they do have fans that helped us sleep. Overall we had a great stay!

First weekend in Boston
This was a great place to call home on our first trip to Boston! The accommodations offered both amazing aesthetics and comfort. The craft beer selection was a great added bonus. All communications were prompt and friendly. Quick 5 minute walk to the red line subway. My husband and I both highly recommend staying here!

Lovely stay!
We loved staying at this property. Eddie was extremely accommodating and let us drop our luggage off dar earlier than the check-in time. He was quick to respond and has great suggestions for our time in Boston. It’s a quick walk to the Ashmont T station - Google Maps tries to take you to the Shawmut station, but I would recommend the walk to Ashmont (even though it’s one stop further out). Just a quick note - per the rules posted in the unit, the washer and dryer are only to be used for stays longer than a week. Eddie was quite accommodating and let us use them since we’d been planning on it. (This was one stay on our long trip, so we needed to do laundry.) Since the unit is in the basement, it can be a little loud depending on what’s going on above you. It wasn’t a problem for us but just something to be aware of if you’re sensitive to noise. We hope to be back in Boston sometime and will certainly look to stay here again.

Great Getaway
Eddie was fantastic. He gave us a lot of information about places to eat, visit, etc. The Boiler Room is a very unique place. Very quaint. Wish we had a chance to sit out on the patio. It looked so inviting but our weather wasn't cooperating. Great location, not far from the "t" train station. It would be great if their was a coffee keurig instead of espresso machine. The Boiler Room is on the lowest level of the home so you may hear people above you if they are there at the same time you are.
We would definitely be interested in coming back when the weather is warmer. Thanks Eddie!

Unique Property
The Boiler Room is such a fun hideaway. I had a great time marveling at how the owners had transformed their basement into such a luxe experience! Do note that there is no fridge for storing food (I had forgotten but it is clearly expressed in the listing) but there is an impressive range of beverages available to guests.

Even better than the pictures !
Fantastic stay at the Ashmont! We stayed in the Boiler Room and the space was even better than the pictures- very spacious, extremely clean, fluffy towels and super comfy bed (and I’m usually never very happy with beds when traveling). Eddie and Nayeli were very kind and welcoming and have an AMAZING backyard made for hanging and entertaining. Very easy trip by train into the heart of Boston for a day of sightseeing. Highly recommended

loved it!
Great location in Dorchester with plenty of bars and restaurants. Only a 10 min drive to downtown Boston. Went whale watching and checked out a few small coastal towns too.

Beautifully appointed room with super friendly hosts
The Boiler Room's decor is truly beautiful and stylish. Eddie and Nayeli are gracious hosts who are readily available to solve any issues that might come up. Their backyard patio space is very inviting also. The Ashmont neighborhood of Dorchester is a great place to stroll around and admire late 19th century Victorian homes. It's an easy (less than 10 minutes) walk to the Ashmont metro on the Red Line to get to downtown Boston.

Boston's Best
Just perfect and oh so cool! Couldn't ask for better lodging in Boston, only wish we had discovered it before 2018 when our daughter was playing lacrosse at BU. She now lives and works in Boston having falling in love with the city, as we have also! We will certainly look to stay in the Boiler room when next we visit!!

NH Ragnar and a Boston Vacay
The location was perfect for us. The Boiler Room was clean and the hosts were friendly and personable. They recommended places to go, as we have never been to Boston-and their recommendations didn’t disappoint! We will go back again some day for another vacay.
