Disappointing stay. No internet or TV for 5 days despite continued promises every day that it would be fixed. Router was in locked garage and no one was available to access it to rectify the problem. We were forced vacate and find a new place for the remainder of our holiday stay. It was agreed that we would be credited for unused days but even that was not without issue. This is NOT a managed property and is without reliable local support for any issues.

We weren't sent a keycode to the property, couldnt reach our "host" and needed to call vrbo 3 times while flying cross country to a rental we had paid for, but could not access. Each time we called vrbo we were told they would try to reach to host. Since we were trying the same phone number and calls were going directly to voice mail we realized this was a waste of time. After landing in Newark at night, tired, hungry and not knowing what to do we finally demanded to speak with a supervisor at vrbo and got a place to sleep. It was only then, at 8:30pm, after endless time on hold, that we were provided a hotel for the night. Turns out our "host" was on a sailboat between islands and couldn't be reached my phone. We never received a apology, a refund or another communication from her. We have rented many houses over the years and this was, by fa, the most stressful, worst experience ever. Also, no maintenance on house inside or out.

I was sent to NJ for a construction project from July-October and came across this rental. I travel with my two cats and Jennie was kind enough to let us stay for an extended period of time. We loved having a cozy home to come back to at the end of the day. The bed in the guest room was really comfy and she had plenty of drawer and closet space for my belongings. I loved cooking on the gas stove and taking advantage of the summer sun on the back patio. I watered the plants for her while we were there and ended up growing a huge basil plant, some small strawberries, a melon and some mint. The cats loved sitting in the front bay window in the morning and afternoon to watch the birds. I was able to explore the creek behind the house a little bit, and right before dusk, if you sneak out there, you might be able to see the little deer family that lives there. (: The home was in perfect walking distance to the pizza restaurant, laundromat, gas station and ice cream shop. The entrance to the neighborhood is also right across the street from some awesome little walking trails that run right along the river. If you are here in the summer months (and don't mind a good work out) try to take the canoe up the right side of the river, then carry it across to the other side of the trail and paddle down to the boat launch in town. The water was beautifully clear and so refreshing. We pulled the canoe off to the side multiple times and just enjoyed the sun and swimming in the water. Jennie was very accommodating and was able to work with my unpredictable work schedule. I can't wait to come back and visit to enjoy Delucia's pizza on the back porch with the squirrels (:

Just what we wanted
Jennie overcame multiple hurdles to accommodate us and we are very grateful. The house was comfortable and clean. Nothing fancy, but we weren’t looking for anything fancy. As we settled in the first evening, a family of deer was in the backyard as if to welcome us. If Jennie doesn’t have it in the house, you probably don’t need it!

'No frills' cozy getaway
The property is dated but I think that's reflected in the description and pricing so it's not a surprise. Jennie made every effort to keep us comfortable and provided a cozy getaway for our family and pet while repairs were being made to our house. The location is great, especially if you like walking or biking. The backyard was perfect for the kids and dog, and the deck with its beautiful lighting was our favorite dinner spot.

Peace and greenery with a beautiful backyard and a wonderful host who was so helpful and sweet!
This is a great little house with a lot of personality in a beautiful setting, I can't say enough about the backyard and deck. Rustic charm and lovely herb gardens, and the string of Edison lights around the deck is enchanting. The house itself is a little trip back in time, cozy, but with a kitchen that has all you need, except dishwasher, but the view from the window above the sink makes dish washing a pleasure, and actually a relaxing experience. There is one bathroom, fixtures are not
the latest, but it's decorated sweetly and the water pressure in the shower is awesome! Air-conditioning keeps the house cool and works well. Wi-fi works very, very well - we had three people who were using laptops and ipads and there was no problem with using them.. Only issue with cell phone use, was there were dead spaces within the house so had to pick places where you could talk from, and sometimes calls got dropped. Best place on my phone to talk and text was on deck and in bedrooms. I have a Galaxy phone, which is an Android. No TV, but there was a DVD player so bring your DVD's to watch movies, or use your laptops. It was great getting away from the TV and made the experience that much more unique in that there wasn't a TV going all the time. The homeowner had plenty of basics available for use, including masks, hand sanitizer, hand soap, house cleaning products and healthy snacks and herbs from the garden. The homeowner went out of her way to be helpful in scouting out places to go and visit during our stay, and answering any questions I had during our stay in a timely manner. She was gracious and easy to communicate with. She had a folder of maps and activities to peruse for the area, including take-out menus that was very helpful. She went out of her way to make our stay pleasant.
