Property was lovely.

If you’re looking to stay inside the park and avoid lines, this is a great option! Yosemite west is well situated to the most popular spots. The house is a bit rustic but that adds to the charm. Very comfortable considering you’re in the middle of a national park!

Yosemite Refuge was a great place to stay during our visit to Yosemite National Park. The host was more than accommodating and the house was nicely decorated and set up for our visit. We enjoyed the nice deck. The location was very convenient to all the things we wanted to do in the park. We would highly recommend.

We were happy with well stocked kitchen. It was a fun stay. Watched the dvd’s and puzzled in evenings.

We had a great time at this cabin, and our host was awesome! She communicated in a timely manner, and was so helpful! We loved our visit to Yosemite, and this place was in a great location! It was very clean and had all the essentials.

We loved the house and location which put us 30 mins from almost any sight, waterfall, hike we wanted. Closest to Glacier Point Rd. We shopped for food in Groveland on our way in and we ate most meals there. We made and packed our own lunches as we would spend the day out in the park.

Yosemite Refuge was an outstanding rental property for our visit to Yosemite National Park. It was ideally situated to visit all of the key locations (Valley, Wawona, Glacier Point, and the Tuolemne Meadows) within the. Park.
The house itself was exactly as advertised, two comfortable bedrooms, a well appointed kitchen, a wonderful deck and a very comfortable living room space. Would highly recommend this location to anyone visiting the park. The owner did a great job in communicating with us prior to our arrival which added to the positive experience.

Great stay “once again.” Day trips galore with a great place to unwind afterwards.

Lovely place. Great amenities and perfect location to enjoy all that the Park has to offer while minimizing drive. We hiked the valley and Wawona area.
Will recommend the Refuge for anyone planning to go to Yosemite.
(except one small thing but knew and planned accordingly: no washer dryer)

Great property! Third stay for us and we’ll be back in a few weeks.

This was our 2nd time renting this house and we’ll be back again. We go with 2 families (4 adults and 2 kids). Each bedroom has a futon/ foldout for 1 person which is perfect for us. Each family has a room and a bathroom, and plenty of space.
It’s a 20 minute drive down to the valley, and if you get an early start you will not have a problem with parking. If you get a later start you can park nearby to one of the shuttle stops, but the NPS is still monitoring how many cars enter the park so it’s not too bad even if you don’t head down until midday.
Be aware that there are summer blackouts and the power could be out a few hours. There are battery powered lanterns in the house, but you might want to bring your own flashlights if you want to try to play a board game or read during a blackout. Or if you’ve been hiking all day just go to bed early. If the power is out - just FYI, so is the hot water! You can tell the kids it’s to make it more like camping.
We took bikes with us, and there’s plenty of room in the garage to stash the bikes when you aren’t taking them down to the valley, but you might need to take a hitch mounted bike rack off to close the garage door. We have a VW ID4 and we fit with about an inch to spare with the rack on, but plenty of room with it off. It’s a manual garage door so you can check before you close it.

We had a great time celebrating our daughter's wedding in Yosemite during our stay. The place is convenient to getting around and exploring the area. You are warned about stairs, but it is not clear the they run from the garage up above to the house below. A lot to carry luggage, coolers etc up and down. It would have been nice to know that there is a dirt road off a back street that leads directly to the side door of the cabin for easy unloading and loading. That worked out great for us. This is a nice roomy place, make sure to bring your own coffee and filters, only 4 were provided and there is. a Nespresso but only 1 pod. Just incase you enjoy more than 1 cup , bring your own. There is no laundry machines available they are locked up, if that matters to you. Otherwise a nice place and absolutely gorgeous setting in Yosemite.

Our family of four had a wonderful stay at Yosemite Refuge! Lori was available to be reached, but everything was perfect that we needed limited communication. Almost every morning we saw a few deer walk by the house, eat shrubs, or lay in the shade right in front of the house. Yosemite Valley was a short 20 minute drive! Seeing the view from the tunnel was worth the drive. Mirror Lake was beautiful and an easy/moderate hike. Bridalveil Fall and other falls cascaded with water. Being able to leave the rush of people in the valley and have a quiet home to spend with the family was fantastic! We enjoyed the clean & full kitchen to make dinners and took advantage of their DVD player. The Wi-Fi worked well for us too. We would highly recommend Yosemite Refuge.

Lori was great to communicate with and the house was perfect for our family of four as a jumping off point for our Yosemite adventures and to relax at the end of the day. Bonus points for being able to come into the valley through Tunnel View every day.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The place was very clean when we arrived and the directions for access, etc. were very clear. Great location to access all the major spots we wanted to visit. I would definitely stay here again.

Our party of two couples really enjoyed our stay at Yosemite Refuge. The house is nicely located to reach the Valley and nearby sites. The house was comfy with two bedrooms, each with adjoining bath, at separate ends of the upstairs hallway. We cooked in each night and loved the well stocked, open plan kitchen. The welcome binder contained helpful local info and hiking recommendations. And the sunset views from the living room across to the distant mountain range were amazing!
Our only minor issue was the Owner was not very communicative on how we would receive our check in info. It would have been nice to have known what email address to look for (did not contain any part their name and went into spam). We also did not receive responses to VBRO messages.
However the check in instructions, once found, were very clear and the directions to the house and info on what to expect were spot on.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

We absolutely loved staying in the Yosemite refuge for our trip! It was close to the park and still felt like a remote cabin all to ourselves! The outdoor deck was a great spot to hang out and we had lots of fun with the board games at night.

We had an amazing time at Yosemite West.
Location: Phenomenal. The home is actually inside the park, so you're not spending 30/60/90 minutes in your car waiting to drive in every day. You just get up and go. Plus, the house itself is 20-40 minutes away from most locations, including Mariposa Grove, Yosemite Valley, and Glacier Point.
The location is reason enough to stay here, but the house is so lovely and cozy as well. It has 2 primary bedrooms on either side of the house, both with their own bath, which made it perfect for us staying with another couple. The downstairs and deck have great views and are so comfortable. We cooked for ourselves the whole week and the kitchen had all the tools we needed!
The host Lori was super communicative and always available whenever we needed her!
The only "downsides" I would note, which are also listed in the listing, are not really all that bad. One is that the cell service is very minimal, but it's not available in Yosemite, either, so that doesn't really count! The Wifi worked well enough for us to be on social media, text, and browse the internet. We planned ahead and downloaded movies to play via a HDMI cable from our laptop to the TV.
As for the stairs, there are a lot of them as the listing says BUT, they are extremely well constructed. They are cement and have a railing the whole way up. One person in our group was traveling with a cane and kept remarking on how thankful they were for the hand rail. It was a nice surprise!
10.0 / 10.0
Perfect location in West Yosemite for easy, quick access to Yosemite NP, beat the crowds, maximize park time, etc. Lori was very helpful and responsive to questions and access was simple and easy. The stairs on the mountainside are significant, but well worth being in such a great and beautiful location. The property could use some updating on furnishings and interior, but no reason to spend much time indoors in this gorgeous corner of the world. Thanks!

Loved it! Perfect hideaway in Yosemite Valley! Close enough to get to everything we wanted to see, far enough to get refuge from all the tourists.

Very nice house located in Yosemite West within the park which makes it a great location for hiking trips in Yosemite Valley, Mariposa Grove and Glacier Point. The house is very comfortable and is a great place to relax after a day of hiking. We loved the deck outside and watching deer and chipmunks. The kitchen is very well equipped so we could cook full meals there. Great stay

Once again a beautiful property filled with everything you need. Not a single thing to complain about. Lori was the perfect host! We will be looking to stay there again.

Beds were comfy, location was convenient (30 minutes to valley, 30 minutes to mariposa). Loved cooking all of our own meals. The steps to the house were killer after 3 full hiking days but it is a mountain location so some elevation is reasonable :)

We stayed here in Feb and really enjoyed it. Easy access to park valley and other areas of which are less busy. Highly recommend as a homebase for your Yosemite adventures.

This was our first time in Yosemite - and this house was the perfect refuge. It was so nice to have a whole house (with kitchen and fireplace) to go back to without having to stay too far from the valley and other main sites. A great winter spot in particular because of its proximity to Badger Pass. Really so cozy and everything we needed for a perfect getaway.
8.0 / 10.0
This is an absolutely great property and great location for visiting Yosemite National Park. We got in just before the big snowstorm arrived on 11/7 so I figure the cleaning crew getting home quickly is likely the reason for a few aspects of the house not being cleaned when we arrived (both kitchen trash cans half full, dried milk in frother, etc). The house was very spacious and well stocked. We absolutely enjoyed our time around the house buried in the snow and got to spend a couple of days out as well. One thing that absolutely needs to change with this listing is that the owner should not leave it up to the comments for people to find out about the 55 stairs to get down to the cabin from the road. They were a bit icy when we arrived and with luggage for a family of 5 it was a little dicey. I cannot imagine someone arriving with some sort of issue that affects climbing more than a few stairs only to find they will have to ascend/descend 110 stairs every time they go out. I could not find any evidence of these stairs in the pictures or text. The most you see in this area is that it says it’s not suitable for children under 3 because of the stairs, but then again the interior pictures of the house show stairs and so the assumption is the interior stairs (and maybe that is what is meant). Either way it should be listed. The exterior pictures of the house cut off just where you would begin to see the exterior stairs.
Great property though. We enjoyed it and recommend the location highly.

The house was perfect for our family of six. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and the location near Yosemite
Valley. We felt welcome and the hosts provide good information about the home and the area and they made sure everything was going well for us. I certainly recommend this lovely rental.

This was a perfect spot for our family of five - away from the bustle of the valley but easy to get to everything. Would definitely stay again!

Nice place
We really liked the place. It's only big enough for 4 people, though plenty of space for 4. Has 54 steps down to house. Nice garage. Furnace was out so used space heaters. Blew two circuit breakers. Lori, the host, helped us resolve that right away. Furnace should be fixed by now. Has plenty of DVDs include some great videos about Yosemite. TV is small but works. If stay there again.

Great Yosemite home base
Yosemite Refuge is in a great location for accessing the valley and other areas of the park. It took us about 20 minutes to get to Tunnel View and 30 to get to the Village parking lot. The house is very nice. There are quite a few steps from the garage, but it’s not too bad. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. The a/c wasn’t working when we were there and it got a little warm in the late afternoons, but it usually cools off enough at night to be comfortable sleeping. There were deer in the yard every day. Overall, it was great, but for the price it would be nice to have access to the washer and dryer.

Quiet and comfortable!
Every item you need in your home was available here! The host thought of everything. It was quiet and well situated to explore Yosemite. Let’s just say I have already rebooked for next year.
