Summary:
Stylish artsy and rustic cabin getaway centrally located within walking distance to downtown and train depot.

Large deck on main floor and private balcony accessed through second floor guest room.

Lodge includes WiFi, self check-in, wood burning fireplace, AppleTV (Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+), complimentary Keurig coffee and tea bar, free parking, private entrance, and bikes (June - Sept.).

Pack and play crib available during stay.

The Space:
The cabin is an extra large space with a full kitchen, laundry room, and a master suite with a claw-footed tub. There are three dedicated bedrooms, a pull-out couch and two full bathrooms. Downstairs living space for gathering around the fireplace/stove, a kitchen table for games and puzzles, and a full kitchen for making any meals you'd like. The upstairs TV room is great for reading, relaxing, or watching Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+ (all complimentary with your stay).

We have onsite caretakers that live in a basement apartment with a separate entrance. They can help assist with anything you might need during your stay.
* The upstairs deck, and main deck are schedule to be replaced in the spring. For guest safety the upstairs deck is not available for use until the replacement is complete.*

Approximately 1600 square ft. Main level and second floor of lodge. Private deck and balcony.

The Neighborhood:
Talkeetna is a small unique town with great restaurants, breweries, and nightlife. Walking trails behind the home for a shortcut to downtown. All downtown attractions and restaurants are within 0.5-0.7 miles. Train depot is 0.7 miles away.

Getting Around:
Convenient location and within a mile walking distance of downtown restaurants, nightlife, and rail depot. We provide access to two bikes from June to September.

You understand that the use of the wood-burning stove is at your own risk and that special risks may be involved with fireplaces and stoves. You accept full responsibility for any bodily injury arising from use of the stove and fireplace and hold owner harmless. You understand there are potential dangers that a wood-burning stove may present to children who are not carefully supervised, as well as the danger to any person in the cabin if a person has health risks, or if a person uses the stove while intoxicated or using any kind of drugs or medication, or while pregnant. You agree to be fully and solely responsible for any accidents you may incur. You understand the risks discussed above and agree that you will assume all responsibility for yourself and for the consequences of those in your party. You agree to waive any claim whatsoever against owner for accidents or claims arising from use of the wood-burning stove. All Airbnb Guests in my party acknowledge and agree that they have read and understand this waiver and they acknowledge that confirming below constitutes a binding and enforceable contract between Airbnb Guests and Airbnb Host.

We stayed at Lazy Bear Retreat last year. When we decided to return again we were hoping to get it again. It’s great for family and friends. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and washer/dryer which we had to use since we were on a 10 day vacation. We had a couple of questions for Tent the landlord before we went and his responses were always very timely. We liked to log cabin feel.

This property has great potential, but the pictures listed are way out-dated and it has not been kept up. The floor level of the property were good, the kitchen, living area and 1 bedroom and bathroom were good. The upstairs bedrooms did not have curtains that would block out the midnight sun in Alaska in the summer. When we arrived all the windows were open and fans going upstairs, we had to move bedrooms to try to find a dark place, so we hung up our clothes over the only curtain rod to try and make it dark. At 2:00 am the neighbors dog started screaming for an hour. We shut all the windows to try to sleep. The next day when we got home, the upstairs smelled horribly of urine, we opened all the windows again and were guessing that was why they were all open when we got there. The upstairs balcony was off limits because 4 or 5 pieces of wood were knocked out and had been that way for a long time. If the pictures were accurate of this place, I would have never picked it to begin with. So, like I said, it has great potential, it just needs some work and upkeep.

This was an amazing cabin located perfectly in Talkeetna. The beds were very comfortable, the laundry and kitchen had everything we needed, and the unique kitchen table was perfect for family talks and dinners. We recommend this place to everyone and we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great property to stay. Nice cozy cabin that can accommodate up to 6 adults. Talkneetna is nice town and we actually were able to see Denali from the river there. We had a slight issue operating the key pad to get in however that was due to operator error.

As we entered the adorable log cabin, the woodwork inside was gorgeous, warm and inviting. The dining table, where we had breakfast every morning, was a slab cut from a gigantic tree which was complemented by the coffee table in the living area. We truly appreciated their beauty. The house was more than well equipped - they have everything - dishwasher, dishwashing and clothes soap,Clorex wipes, every pot, pan and dish needed along with K-Cups and a filtered water pitcher in the fridge. It made our adventure so easy. The entire experience was exceptional! Although we didn't meet the host in person, he was very accommodating before we arrived and was available if we needed anything. If you find yourself in Talkeetna, we highly recommend the Lazy Bear!

Property was very clean and had high end features; however, we had booked the property next door, which is 3BR and 2BA. When I communicated with property manager just prior to arriving to our cabin (in Alaska), I was told the reservation was "lost" and that we no longer could stay there (even through VRBO clearly showed the reservation was current and had not been cancelled). We were told we could stay at their next door property, which was 1 BR plus bed in loft with 1 bathroom (instead of 3BR/2BA), but only for 2 nights, instead of 3 nights, which is what I had reserved the original property for. After settling in, the folks who were staying in our originally booked cabin said they were family members who just got some time off spur of the moment and asked if they could stay at the cabin we had booked.

Great cabin stay giving that true Talkeetna feel. Cabin was very clean, authentic, and very close to downtown (5 min walk). Highly recommend!

Great location, fun cabin

We had a nice stay - convenient location, lots of amenities, great for families. As mentioned, there are residents below which you do hear. We also wish that some of the snow was cleared off the deck but absolutely understand that Talkeetna got a ton of snow this winter!

The house was very accurately represented in the listing. No surprises upon arrival. The house was clean, the snow was cleared, and everything worked within the home. We did not see or hear the caretakes downstairs. The Kerig with complementary coffee and tea was a nice surprise. We would stay here again.

Very communicative host, helpful and answered questions promptly. Nice amenities included, in quite a cute cabin which is close to town. Muffled, but can hear people below you talking, but only one of bedrooms is on the main floor and it was not an issue for us. Would stay again

The property was great.

The property was great.

The problem that we had was that the supervisor of the property lived in the lower level with his wife and two kids. The kids kept us awake until 2:30AM on our first night. We then complained and the second night was OK. The third night was noisy again until late in the night. I would not stay there again and I do not recommend it to other prospective renters. This is NOT a single occupant home. There is an apartment down stairs that has a hatch leading to the cabin we rented. This is an access door they have disguised by matching flooring and seams with surrounding but has a flush handle and is hidden with a table over it. The ‘hatch’ only locks from downstairs and is unsecured from renter side. From said ‘hatch’ comes cigarette smoke, yelling, screaming etc. Cleanliness and sanitation is horrible. Open bottles of shampoo, condiments, food left behind. Carpet upstairs is horribly nasty stained. No AC but they do have a fan that has NEVER been cleaned. Junk cars outside, junk bikes left at the steps, the lawn has never seen a weed trimmer. Slow communications with owner-blamed on app not working properly. Upstairs shower has no shower curtain and is therefore not usable. Outside banister is very loose, not sturdy. I could go on but I think you get my point.

We enjoyed the space, kitchen layout was nice and well supplied. The kitchen sponge and scrubby‘s were kind of funky – they should be replaced. The surface clean was good, it could use a deeper clean and a carpet cleaning. Remodeling has been nice, appears to still be in process. The location is great. We enjoyed the deck on our one nice weather evening. The salmon were running, fun to watch them work their way up the river along the bank at the town park. The salmon education center was very interesting too. Talkeetna is a sweet little town.

The property is very nice, and the owner was very responsive. However, the property was extremely dirty and the caretaker was inept. We found animal feces in the closet, half-eaten and outdated food in the fridge and cupboards, the grill was filthy and rancid, the kitchen drain emitted a terrible stench, and the whole place was dusty and dirty. The owner (who lives in a different city) sent the caretaker up immediately. He vacuumed up the feces, said the left-overs were condiments for the guests, and handed me a grill kit so I could clean the grill. This was all reported to the owner, and hopefully the situation will be rectified. This would definitely be a five star property if it were cleaned up and maintained. In addition to the items listed above, there were two outlets with no covers and dangling wires, and there was a large pile of full bags of garbage outdoors in back of the property. Hopefully the owner will be able to correct the issues and bring the property up to standard. Once again, the owner was very responsive and easy to work with, and the property itself is great.

Amazing, cozy property with plenty of space! Perfect location that is walking distance to downtown Talkeetna. My only note would be that it's a shared property and there were several other people (I assume other residents?) on/around the property throughout our stay.

Peaceful and Quiet Getaway

Peaceful and Quiet Getaway

Just what you'd expect out of an Alaskan home away from home. We enjoyed the mix of rustic cabin and updated features throughout the house. Loved having a fire in the wood stove and watching snow fall outside. The kids enjoyed the large deck and yard to play, then relaxing upstairs in front of the TV with all standard features. The main street is less than a mile, so an easy walk (or drive) to and from dinner at the brew pub or Mile High Pizza. Easy place to getaway and relax!

The house was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. The bottle of wine, snacks and free coffee were nice extra touches. The location was close enough to walk to Talkeetna, which is a cool, artsy town.
