*If you are looking to host a large gathering please contact us about renting the adjacent property, which we own, as well. (See Three Gulls, HomeAway listing 4017238). Together they comfortably sleep 11-14 depending on preferences.*
Our waterfront comfortable, completely remodeled home (2019-2020) is family-friendly and available to guests. It's a ranch style house built in 1960 and situated in a family neighborhood in which many homes are vacation/second homes. Most rooms offer a beautiful view of lake. This relaxing, comfortable home sleeps 5 (a king, three twin beds, , a queen-size hanging/swing bed on the porch). Features include a spacious screened in porch with lots of comfortable seating for gatherings and a swing bed.
There's a large multilevel deck which leads to a wooden staircase and on to the lakefront, where the fishing is at its best! We have a fire pit available for bonfires and marshmallow roasting. If you're coming to tournament fish, this home is ideal for both tournament participants as well as their friends and family members who may observe the action on Pickwick Lake from the decks or screened porch.
We are pet-friendly (limit 2 pets) with pets fees applicable ($25 for one, $35 for two pets, payable upon arrival).
NO CHILDREN UNDER AGE 12. EVERYONE 12 AND OLDER IS CONSIDERED AN ADULT AND MUST BE INCLUDED ON RESERVATION.
We also have a small, private pier with boat mooring that may accommodate your boat docking needs. Water levels and conditions fluctuate, so inquire about current conditions if water activities are in your plans. Feel free to bring paddle boards, jet skis, canoes, boats and other water toys.
Our Pickwick Lake home is located just five miles west of the quaint Norman Rockwell-ish town of Tuscumbia, recently ranked among the top ten most charming small towns in Alabama. It's about an hour west of Huntsville/Madison County on one of the most peaceful and lovely sections of the Tennessee River.
PRIDE LANDING LAUNCH RAMP IS LOCATED ABOUT FIVE MILES WEST OF THE HOUSE BY ROAD, AND ABOUT FIVE MINUTES BY BOAT.
Florence Marina/McFarland Park (256)768-1299 is about 23 minutes away by road, 15 minutes by boat. BOAT RENTALS MAY BE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE MARINA.
Local fishing on Pickwick, Wilson and Wheeler Lakes is easily accessible. We can recommend fishing guides, as well.
Among LOCAL ATTRACTIONS ARE the popular RATTLESNAKE SALOON, a restaurant in a cave, (recently featured on Food Network), IVY GREEN (the birthplace of Helen Keller) and CANE CREEK CANYON NATURE PRESERVE (featuring "The Most Spectacular View in Alabama," according to Backpacker Magazine), two ROBERT TRENT JONES GOLF COURSES about 15 miles away. The University of North Alabama is about 20 minutes away, in nearby Florence. Be pampered at Willows Day Spa about 5 miles away in Tuscumbia. Also check out THE DISMALS, about 45 minutes south in Phil Campbell, Alabama, in Franklin county.
The lake is beautiful all times of year, although water levels at our pier and conditions do fluctuate seasonally, with water level lowering in the Fall and Winter, and rising to normal levels in the Spring through Summer. The serene, lovely location, along with spectacular birding opportunities make this home perfect for a get away.

David and I absolutely loved celebrating our anniversary at this beautiful, tranquil lake house with our pug and cavapoo dogs. The host is a text message away with great communication on any questions. Highly recommend a stay here!

Beautiful home in a beautiful location. Worth it just to sit on the enclosed back porch with (or without) a cup of coffee in the morning or a cocktail in the evening and look out at the river.
We had a great time…very relaxing!

The only thing disappointing about our stay was the weather -- we did not get to enjoy the covered deck because it was too cold! The place is clean and charming; and the view is wonderful. Great place to relax and recharge for the new year. Plenty of indoor things to enjoy in the area.

Enjoyed this quaint little house and the river/lake view was awesome. My dog absolutely loved the screened in large porch as did I because she could see all going on outside. Kitchen was very well stocked had great appliances

My friend and I enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch watching the boats and barges go by. Fun little decorative touches all over the house made it a great place to stay.

I arrived to find soft lighting, soft music playing on one of the television music stations, and a lighted sign that said "Welcome" and included my name.
The kitchen and bathroom provided all that I needed at my fingertips, including coffee and filters to get me started. The bed was very comfortable.
The huge screened porch with a great view of the lake made for an excellent place to read, rest, and dream; my two dogs and I spent much time on this porch.
The owner, Judy, was very quick to respond when I called about a problem I created myself, and she was very gracious and kind.
I look forward to returning to this lovely lake home!

Heron House is a adorably decorated, very clean and fully equipped house right on the Tennessee River. There were nice little vignettes to allow a little separation when needed, but large kitchen and other large spaces for playing games, watching tv, or whatever. Big enclosed back patio with working grill and access straight down to the river. Judy communicated greatly when needed. Would definitely stay here again if ever in the area. Short distances to Florence, Muscle Shoals and Tuscumbia center.

Judy understands hospitality. Small touches such as fresh flowers indicated a thoughtfulness that extended throughout the stay. Nice and rare to recognize love, while still operating a business.

The location of the property in relation to Tuscumbia is excellent. The place is so inviting and cosy in it's decor. The bedding was the most comfortable of any rental I have ever been to. The rental was well equipped with all your kitchen needs. You want go wrong by staying here.

Cozy house
Pictures do not do this house justice. The colors and combination of furniture inside are beautiful. If you get tired of looking at that all you have to do is look out to the water on the screen porch

Fishing Tournament Getaway
We were in town for a fishing tournament, and this home was the perfect spot on the lake! It had the best cottage feel, and met all of our needs! The views to the lake were amazing! The screen porch was also a huge bonus!

Great place to relax!!!!!!
This house had everything we wanted or needed and the view is just breathtaking. Sitting on the pier - or one of multiple decks - in the evenings and looking at the sunset was so relaxing! And we so enjoyed the huge screened in porch in the evenings just to sit out, play the guitar and relax. Lots to do in the area.
Judy was super super sweet, very easy to work with, and extremely helpful!

Felt like we walked into a fairytale bungalow. The place was so cute and the back porch is what dreams are made of! The access to the water is easy and seeing the sunrise to the left and sunset to the right was just the icing on the cake. Host is such a sweetheart and very accommodating. Will stay again if we return to this area.

This is hands down the best vacation property I have ever stayed in (and I have been to many around the country)! The cleanliness and comfort of this home were unsurpassed. The owner thinks of everything. We cooked quite a bit while there and found every item needed in the well stocked kitchen. This home lends itself to active fun on the river as well as peaceful moments to recharge for a busy life. The home is surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees with a diverse number of birds to watch. This truly was a magical and healing experience for our family. Will definitely be back!

Perfect getaway spot!
Had a girls weekend here and fell in love with this little cottage! Appreciated all the extra details to welcome guests and loved how it is set up to entertain with so many spots for hanging out. We never left! Thanks again, Judy, for giving us such a homey place to land.

This may not be a new fancy house but Judy goes out of her way to make you feel at home. It is easily accessible from the parkway, has a gorgeous view, and is very comfortable inside and out. We were welcomed with soft music, chocolates, cookies, bottled water in the frig, beautiful fresh flowers, and our own personal welcoming sign inside the house. Judy checked to make sure we had everything we needed and was very accommodating. I only wish our weather had allowed us to enjoy the large screened porch more and that we could have stayed a few more days.
