Charaktervolles, historisches, kleines Haus, sehr gut geführt.

Nice romantic hotel
4.5
Great atmosphere, rooms are beautiful and very clean. The rooftop bar is very nice too.
The smart TV in the room is very hard to use. The remote is very hard to use (it has this weird tech where you wave it like a wand to move the mouse cursor, doesn’t work), doesn’t have other streaming apps besides Netflix and no way to connect your own device as an alternative.

AWESOME HOTEL AND SERVICE
5.0
Clean, recently renovated, esthetically pleasing, accommodating staff.
Rain shower from 10ft high leaves you no option but to wet your hair. No handheld extensions in some of the rooms.

Was looking for last minute hotel and was accepted. Great service, helpful staff.
4.5
Spacious room and bathroom, very clean with a very comfortable bed. Someone else wrote “you would be crazy not to stay here” and I fully agree.
It is close to the highway so there is some traffic noise at night

The entire hotel is very stylish and has a nice background story
We loved everything

Beautifully restored with attention to detail. We had an Executive Suite and it was a big corner space with very large bedroom, large and comfortable living area and a huge bathroom.

The hotel was beautiful!
The room was a little noisy. Near the entrance door so you could hear the door open and close and street noise.

The room was awesome, and the restaurant bar were incredible!
Navigating your building. Truly confusing how many doors were locked, or barred, how.many hallways you have to walk through to find the lobby etc. Have to take stairs, the elevator, then stairs to get around, was just weird an unexpected.

really nice concept , nice building.
the door to the next room was paper thin and drafty. we hab all the coughing and snorting of our room neighbors right in our head. their whooshing air conditioning freezing our room too. the big old windows act as a loudspeaker for the Chicano posse roaring their lowriders around the hotel all night. we were provided ear plugs tho..
no bathrobe or anything to get tho the pool, which was not heated as promised in advance, but freezing cold

it’s a beautiful place. amazing rooms, cozy and comfortable. Pool was great!! staff was amazing

the hotel was lovely but the restaurant inside lacked ambiance and staff was unprofessional. I notified ahead that I would like a special table due to occasion and that did not happen… no idea. Anyways, we were surprised by the wait staff etc for that level of dining.
We booked the hotel hearing a year ago about detail to customer service etc….. hopefully that will improve.

tall ceilings, good air conditioning, friendly staff, super helpful workers, and great food at elderwood restaurant.

the building itself is beautiful.
banging noises in the walls- maybe old pipes? no sound barrier between your room and the street noise- there was street construction ALL NIGHT next to my bedroom window. no hot water in the morning so had to take a cold shower. power went out numerous times during the early morning. bed is not comfortable. the air-conditioning won’t set below 67 and it never got below 72 in the room. horrible horrible night sleep. needless to say I will not be staying here again.

Location history of building. Views. High ceilings. Brunch at Elderwood convenient and drlious.
Shower weak and door leaked. At the Elderwood workman and others walking through already small space.

heritage hotel, good restaurant/bar
vintage shower in rm 218 was unusable, we were unable to use it, shower head was too high to adjust but spread water over the entire bathroom, no water temperature adjustment, actually had to mop floor, to finish….

If you’re looking to stay at a reasonably priced luxury hotel on the CA 99 corridor consider making your stop in Visalia to stay at The Darling. The architecture of the hotel is beautiful and the rooms are opulent. We were particularly impressed by the walk in rain shower in the marble festooned bathroom, it made us feel like royalty. The bed was amazing too. We also enjoyed the rooftop restaurant, it has a full bar and a great menu with stunning views of the Sierra and Mt Whitney. The staff was excellent and respectful. This hotel feels like a safe and welcoming place for LGBT and African American travelers.

Robert was absolutely fantastic!!! I stayed at The Darling because I had just been in a big car accident. He was soo beyond helpful!!! He went above and beyond for me. Thank you Robert!!!
The french toast was bomb too!
Loved the bathtub!!
No microwave in the suite.
The light switches were very confusing to work.
Also the tub drain/plug...i couldn't figure out how to plug it so Robert came up and he struggled a bit too until we figured it out. Maybe a little note about it.

Upon check-in, Ashley listened to me and was very helpful. When specifically asked by the woman at checkout how my stay was I told her I had not liked the loud thumping elevator shaft adjoining my room.
