About this house rental

Step back in time to 1828 and walk the same halls as Charles Mallory, Mystic’s most prominent shipbuilder (see Mallory buildings and exhibits on display at Mystic Seaport). The Charles Mallory House is a 7 bedroom (sleeps 15), 4.5 bath (3750 sq ft) home located on .65 acre. This newly renovated home was the home of Charles Mallory and his decedents from 1828-2012. Located in historic downtown Mystic, the Charles Mallory Mystic House is ideal for extended/multi-generational family celebrations and reunions. Are you the parent(s) of the bride or groom who is getting married in the surrounding area? Or parent(s) of a Coast Guard student, Connecticut College student, or other academic institution? If so, this is the perfect house to accommodate your guests who are attending your once in a lifetime functions. Leave your car behind as this Greek Revival Home is a 1 block walk to Main Street Mystic, Mystic Green and River, numerous restaurants, bakeries, shops and the infamous Mystic River Bascule Bridge.

Beautiful flower gardens surround the house as well as a front and side porch, a 1,000 sq foot antique bluestone patio with grill, and picturesque 7 foot fountain. An expansive back yard is perfect for your family gatherings or a quiet time to read a book or swing on the tree swing. Two Stand Up Paddle boards (SUPs) that convert into kayaks and 2 kayaks are available for your use. Please note, per recommendation of our insurance company, there are four outdoor surveillance cameras. One camera covers the backyard and carriage house, a second camera covers the driveway and the third camera covers the the patio area. A ring camera is located on the front of the house. There are no cameras located inside our home.

The Charles Mallory House has two floors. The first floor showcases a gourmet kitchen that includes an 8 burner, 2 oven Wolf stove, pot filler, Sub-Zero refrigerator, Miele dishwasher, an over sized island and granite counter tops. Four fireplaces are located in the dining room, family room, living room and bedroom. The first floor bedroom (king bed) with an en suite bathroom is perfect for guest who do not want to climb stairs. A half bath completes the first floor living area.

A foyer with a grand curved staircase (great for pictures) takes guests to second floor or guests can enter the second floor via the servants stairway. Three more fireplaces can be found among the 6 second floor bedrooms (2 king bedrooms- 1 with attached bathroom, 2 queen bedrooms, 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds, 1 bedroom with bunk bed and trundle). A total of 3 full bathrooms complete the second floor living area.

This downtown location is only a 5 minute drive to Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, Esker Point Beach and Williams Beach, movie theaters, Old Mystic Village shopping, wineries, Fields of Fire Adventure Park and only 20 minutes to Rhode Island Beaches, Foxwoods, and Mohegan Sun Casinos. A wonderful historic home for our family reunion and visit to Mystic. The house is charming, comfortable and updated with lots of spaces for large groups. The outdoor space is just lovely and has seating for many. The location is unbeatable-just a few minutes walk into the bustling town center. The hospitality of our hosts was superb!!

This house was perfect for our large group of 13, including lifelong college friends, their spouses and children in their 20’s. The house is gorgeous and equipped with everything you could possibly need. We loved sitting out on the large beautiful patio surrounded by flowers and a fountain. The walkability to downtown was a huge bonus. We enjoyed shopping, brunch, dinners and happy hours at many establishments (Lynn provided some great tips). Some of our group also had fun using the kayaks and paddle boards. The group was unanimous, we all loved our stay here!

The Charles Mallory was an absolute delight. We kept repeating that it was the perfect location for our annual July 4 family get-together. We were walking distance to downtown Mystic and all the shops and restaurants - nothing was more than a 10 minute walk away. One of the days, we drove 5 minutes over to the aquarium and spent the rest of the day in Mystic village. We also visited Foxwoods, took a boat ride, and went to hibachi, all less than half hour drive. The house itself was great. Even though its almost 200 years old, the owners did a spectacular job renovating much of it to keep it appealing, while maintaining that historical feel. The pictures of the kitchen don't do it justice as it was huge, and we really enjoyed cooking on the Wolf range, as well as the high-end grill outside. The patio and backyard were perfect for kids to run around. And the sleeping arrangements worked out perfectly and all 14 of us were situated very nicely. Overall, I would highly recommend this house to any large group wanting to spend time in Mystic!

This beautiful, historic home served as a perfect location for our large group reunion of 3 families of 4 and 2 singles, ranging in age from 10-49. There was plenty of room to spread out and there were also plenty of spaces to gather as one large group. The backyard deck is particularly lovely. They made check-in and check-out easy with their home guide, which also provided a fascinating history of the house, and were very responsive when we had a concern that they resolved immediately. Very friendly couple. A lovely coffee house across the street had us going every morning, but they supplied plenty of coffee for our group and even a plate of homemade cookies and 2 bottles of wine greeted us on the counter upon our arrival! Would definitely recommend to anybody looking to stay with a large group of people.

We stayed with friends and family in the Mallory house to celebrate our daughter’s wedding in Mystic. The house was the perfect backdrop to a perfect weekend. We were able to host guests on the delightful patio and cook an end of weekend feast in the lovely kitchen that has everything a cook could ask for. We even did a few first look pictures by the fountain and on the swing with all the beautiful roses as a background. As a rental house we had everything we could ask for: comfortable beds, multiple bathrooms and so many fluffy towels! Mystic is a special town and the Mallory House will have a special place in our hearts for making our daughter’s wedding weekend even more spectacular!!
