About this house rental
Love at first sight
Yellow Birch Lake Inn is an iconic 1940s lake-house estate that has been masterfully modernized into a luxurious private “family inn,” while also carefully preserving the beautiful bead board in the five bedrooms, and the original Douglas Fir wood paneling and the majestic stone fireplace in the living room. With 400-feet of lake frontage on Yellow Birch Lake, the Inn is a very special place to experience the world’s largest chain of 28 connected lakes and the beauty of the Northwoods, with the added convenience of being close to the quaint town of Eagle River (it’s a five-minute drive). The spacious home is designed to comfortably accommodate five couples (or singles) or even three families: three bedrooms for the couples and two bedrooms for the kids.
Indoor heaven
As of August 2020, just about everything in the house is BRAND new — the furniture, beds, fine linens, bath and beach towels, cookware, dinner ware, and the outdoor grill.
The dreamy gourmet kitchen features two GE ovens (one is convention), a 6-burner gas GE stove, a GE refrigerator, two GE dishwashers, and a microwave. The commercial-grade kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, bakeware, serve ware, and place settings for 20. Enjoy eating those gourmet meals in the airy dining room (seating for 14) with a breathtaking view of the lake. Cozy up with a book or a board game in front of the fireplace. Gather in front of the 75” Smart TV to stream a movie on Netflix. And stay connected with your smart devices and laptops because The Inn has free, uber-high-speed (1-gig) internet!
The five bedrooms all have lake views. At night, retreat to one the five bedrooms and, if you’re lucky, fall asleep to the loons calling. In the morning, wake up early to watch the sunrise from your bedroom. Four of the bedrooms have full en suite bathrooms and one bedroom has a full bath across the hall. There’s also a powder room! Because the Inn is connected to the city’s sewer and water system, guests can take long hot showers (with plenty of water pressure) all at the same time, which isn’t typical in larger homes. Having city sewer and water also eliminates annoying issues associated with well water and septic systems. Plus, The Inn has a boiler, a dual furnace, and air-conditioning zones!
Outdoor fun
The enormous front lawn is great place to play badminton, croquet or corn hole. Or relax in the lakeside gazebo. Or laze in the Adirondack chairs near the shoreline and enjoy the lake activity (great boat and people watching!). Bring your boat(s) (or rent watercraft from the nearby marina) and dock them in the historic two-stall overwater boathouse. At night, gather around the firepit or spread a blanket on the lawn and gaze up at the stars.
Extracurricular activities
Summer/Fall
Walk to the Eagle River Golf course (across the road) for a leisurely 18 holes or rent a pontoon boat, pack an ice chest and explore the chain of lakes. Rent kayaks, paddle boards, SeaDoos. Boat to one of the many waterfront restaurants on the chain for lunch or dinner. Bring binoculars and bird watch. Bring bicycles and bike on the Wild Eagle Trail. And don’t forget fishing! The chain of lakes is legendary for sports fishing, including competitions — northern pike, bass, trout, and the 1000-casts-to-catch-a-muskie. Visit during Colorama when the Northwoods transforms from lush greens to vibrant oranges and reds.
Winter
Eagle River is the Snowmobile Capitol of the World! Ride the wide network of trails. Watch a hockey game at the iconic Sports Arena. Snowshoe or cross-country ski on nearby trails. Ice fishing on many nearby lakes.
Oohs and Aaahs
One guest said “the echoes of yesteryear resonate,” another that “Yellow Birch Lake Inn is the kind of place where’d they’d film a movie — the kind of place you don’t want to leave,” and another guest called it “the perfect place for a family reunion — it can be your own very private world.”

Awesome stay - could not have been better. We came for a college roommates get together and had everything we needed - golf within walking distance, lake frontage, huge kitchen for cooking, and easy access to town.
Communication with Christyl was awesome - she was unbelievably responsive and made sure we had an awesome stay. We were able to check in early as well on Friday.
Would 100% recommend.

Misty, should have been aired out.
Broken step and deck railing need to be repaired.
Ideal for large group.

Our family vacation was a great success! The house was great and we loved all of the outdoor activities! We had 13 family member ranging in age from 16 to 77, everyone enjoyed our time and many great memories were made!

The property was a spectacular place for a multi-family vacation. The updated boathouse was a huge hit, along with all the other gathering spaces including the gazebo, deck, and indoor living areas. We really enjoyed exploring the lake, boating to dinner, and covering most of the Eagle River Chain by boat.
The kitchen was very well appointed with everything we needed, and the double sinks and double dishwashers made large meal cleanup very quick.
One thing we would have liked was more screens on the windows to get better airflow to the upstairs bedrooms on cool nights.
Our group consisted of 3 couples, two of whom have teenage/college age kids and their friends, and everyone had a great time!

Jour group of 16 including my four children, their spouses and six grandchildren. Yellow Birch was perfect for our group. In addition to what is shown in the pictures, the host has created a small sandy beach along the shoreline that the grandkids enjoyed a lot. They also improved half the boathouse and made it into a space for outdoor enjoyment although we didn’t use it.

Wonderful property with space for everyone! Kitchen was well-stocked and plenty of stuff to do both inside & outside. Our favorite spot was the newly remodeled dock and boathouse - a great outside space with great view of the lake and oversized raft! Nice location close to town & steps to golf course. A great vacation!

Beautiful Property - Perfect Location!
We had a wonderful stay over Memorial Day weekend. The house is completely re-done, and is beautifully decorated and very well appointed (particularly the kitchen!). We were there with our entire family, and the layout of the kitchen - tv - living room was perfect for the crowd. We had plenty of room and could be together without feeling at all cramped. The lake views and location close to town were also ideal. The property manager / owner was warm and accommodating for our needs. We highly recommend this property and hope to return!

THE place to stay in Eagle River
If you are looking for a property that has everything you need in Eagle River, this is it. We had teenage children and young children and there was something for everyone here. The house has a wonderful combination of a historic architecture with modern upgrades that make the property very functional. Chrystl’s communication and hospitality were wonderful. We look forward to the opportunity to stay here again. A+

Beautiful, spacious home.
The Yellow Birch Inn is a wonderful property. The house itself is laid out beautifully and has every amenity inside that you could ask for. My slightly lower rating for the outdoor property itself is mainly regarding two things: 1. the house is located on the channel between two lakes and there can be a lot of boat traffic as a result. Unfortunately, it's not a No Wake Zone so that can impact swimming, floating and kayaking. It is also directly across from the public boat launch. 2. the extensive lawn attracts a lot of geese. As a result, you need to be careful when you play in the grass barefoot! This problem was easily solved by tying up our large floats which kept them away for the most part.
Christl had everything very well organized and we had resources available to us if we needed them.
Once again, a wonderful stay up north!

Great Trip!
We had a great time with a large group (spanning in age from 2 months to over 80 years old). Christl’s house is immaculate, the location is excellent and we had a great time. Looking forward to visiting again!

Perfect lake house in Eagle River
Yellow Birch Inn was an amazing stay for our extended family. Christl has thought of everything that you would need for vacation fun. The kitchen has place settings for at least 20 people. The house is beautifully decorated with a bath for each bedroom. Outside the gazebo and the fire pit were great gathering places. There are 2 paddle boards, a lily pad, kayak, inflatables and more. Christl was quick to respond to any inquiry. We are happy to recommended Yellow Birch Inn

Just what we needed!
This property was the perfect location for our group, with quick access to the chain as well as T Docks. Look forward to returning next summer. Kids are excited for the new mentioned beach entry into the lake!

Excellent property
We had a fantastic week at the yellow birch property. The house was as advertised and had everything we needed. Rented a pontoon and picked up at the boat lunch directly in front of the house. Somehow, despite weather being in 80s all week, there were zero bugs. Hope to be back.

Absolutely stunning view of the lake, immaculate house, beautifully decorated interior, awesome host
We just spent our Memorial Day weekend with friends and families and had a blast! The house has all modern amenities and yet gives you the lake cabin vibe! We loved our stay and enjoyed everything that this house and the property offered us. Christl Clark has been very nice to us and allowed us some flexibility in check in & check out time to maximize our experience. Lake was fun as we rented pontoon boats from the Boat Club up the river a little bit and explored the chain of lakes.

Great location
Beautiful spot I would probably stay again. The only issue we had was the floors could have been swept better, the bathroom in the lake side main floor bedroom wasn't as clean as the rest. One of our friends has s pet hair allergy and he said he felt like he was in contact with pet hair. We thought we rented a pet free house. Other than that it was a great place.

A Great Getaway
This property had everything just as listed. Our stay was extremely comfortable and the property is very conveniently located, the golf course was less than a 5 min walk.
It was an amazing place for a short getaway with friends.

Northwoods Gettaway
Place was simply fantastic and looked even better in the person than on the pictures which is not the usual way of it. The owner made sure everything went smoothly and it did. We will be back to Eagle River and back to this property for sure.
