About this house rental
Don't miss this spacious apartment of a 16th century house with Pool in the centre of Uzès. It has been completely and beautifully renovated in the past year. It is located a minute's stroll from the famous Place aux Herbes. On a protected street of the historic center of this charming town, on the second floor (European), of a 4 century old building. While the lower two floors are occupied by the owners of the building, who were once owners of a well-known Château Hotel, this apartment is an completely independent home. You will be Chez Vous.
The restoration has strived to maintain the character and proportions of the original historic home, while providing all modern conveniences, and a lot of charm. It is pleasing to the eye and soothing to the senses. The remarkable free-standing circular stone stair case remains a tribute to the engineering skills of the builders of centuries ago. The wooden ceiling beams and old stone floors have been maintained throughout and lend a special historical ambiance to the rooms. The spacious and gracious living room looks out over the fig and bamboo trees, and the new swimming pool of the small garden of the property and the rooftops of the town, while comfortable seating, elegant furnishings and the light and airy atmosphere make for a relaxing experience. A small corner desk is looking out over the garden is perfect for writing or working with a laptop via the WIFI. There is air-conditioning in the living room for the summer and heating for the winter, as well as the possibility of a warming wood-burning fireplace.
Up a ladder staircase is the second bedroom, a loft niche at mezzanine level, containing two beds, and likely to be greatly enjoyed by youngsters. Please note, that it is not a closed-in bedroom, and would not be suitable for adults. The kitchen is entirely new, has plenty of cupboard and drawer space, and contains an oven, stovetop, microwave, refrigerator, various small appliances and a table for dining. A bathroom with shower, and a separate toilet are within the apartment, while a washing machine is available in the attic one level up.
The bedroom has a queen-sized bed and antique furnishings, with double-glazed windows and exterior shutters to keep the room cool during the afternoon sun.
Uzès is a small town with a large reputation. Its wonderful buildings and architecture, along with its thriving cultural activities, and renowned weekly markets (Wednesdays and Saturdays) have contributed to its fame. The Guardian newspaper in England designated it as the second best place to visit in 2014 (the first was Cape Town), a remarkable endorsement for such a small town. The town has attracted many artists and artisans, as well as up and coming chefs, as the numerous excellent restaurants attests. Numerous attractive villages are in the surroundings of Uzès, and walks or bike rides or drives through the many vineyards to these ancient villages are very appealing. The long history of the area is perhaps best exemplified by the nearby Pont du Gard, arguably the best-preserved Roman Aqueduct anywhere, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Further afield lie all of the glorious attractions of Provence and the Languedoc. The historic city of Nîmes, with its remarkable Roman Arena and the Maison Carrée Roman temple, and lovely fountain gardens, only 25 minutes away. Avignon the City of the Popes on the River Rhone is 40 minutes away. Within an hour's drive lie ancient Arles, lovely St. Remy, dramatic Les Baux, the lovely, Camargue, thriving Montpellier, while a bit further offers Aix, Cassis, Marseille, and the Luberon. However, apart from the sites to visit, there is the incontestable leisure to be derived from wandering through Provence and its backwaters, enjoying the scenery, the history, the food and the wines - an unmatched experience.

Everything was Perfect from our first day to our last. After searching countless properties across the South of France, we chose " Chez Vous" in the picture perfect town of Uzes. We couldn't have made a better choice! The Apartment is incredible, very large, extremely comfortable, with all the amenities of home, so it's aptly named " Chez Vous". The location is just steps away from everything this beautiful town has to offer, which is a lot! And here's a very sincere Thank You to our host, Susan, who epitomizes Hospitality. She made sure everything was perfect with our stay, and it was!!!

Susan took personal care of our stay from pre-arrival to checkout, and was always just a text away if we needed anything at all.
The library, terrace, and kitchen were perfect for an intimate stay, and her whimsical collection of glassware and tableware made our visit all the more unique.
It is conveniently located just off the city centre, we were never more than 5 minutes away from a parking lot or restaurant, yet just private enough we didn’t have to deal with the vibrant daytime sounds of the town.
Susan and her team at Commendable Rentals are true professionals and well-traveled hosts who know what it's like to visit a new place. We are looking forward to staying at another one of her rentals on our next vacation. Thank you for everything Susan and Corinne!

Leuk verblijf in centrum Uzes!
De vakantiewoning is super gelegen in het centrum van Uzes. Om dan nog een zwembad te hebben is helemaal top. De vakantiewoning is heel mooi en ideaal voor een gezin met 2 kinderen. We werden zeer hartelijk ontvangen.

Amazing accommodation in the heart of Uzes
Susan was the ultimate host - providing us with detailed tips and advice both with her lovely apartment as well as with things to do in Uzes. She even booked a few restaurants for us, which was so helpful. The apartment’s amenities, quality finishes and soft furnishings made it feel like home -away from home - right down to the luxury soaps and essentials in the fridge. Thank you Susan

Wonderful Stay at Chez Vous
My wife and I very much enjoyed our three week stay at Chez Vous in Uzès- a perfect location to immerse yourself in the food, wine, sights and culture of Provence. Susan and Adrian were gracious hosts and answered all our questions promptly, with an attention to the details that was much appreciated. They also provided excellent advice and background information on the many sights and activities in and around Uzès, including dining recommendations. We had a rental car (driving in France is not bad, get one to see the countryside) and Susan and Adrian met us in front of the apartment to grab the luggage and then showed us how to get to the nearby parking garage. The garage was very close, had unlimited in and out, and was operated very professionally.
The apartment has all the comforts of home and was spotless when we arrived. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked, and the living area was expansive with many nice furnishings. The apartment has a very cool stone spiral staircase leading to it and the entire place merges old with new in an elegant combination. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the size of the living area - the apartment really was a five star experience!
After a day of sightseeing, the apartment was a great place to relax and unwind in comfort. Importantly, all of central Uzès, the restaurants and cafes, the Saturday and Wednesday markets, shopping, and historic sites were literally down the street from the apartment. Uzès is a gem - ancient and charming, but also full of real citizens, not just tourists. We look forward to returning - both of us already miss the zen of Uzès and Provence.

Perfect Getaway in Southern France
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Susan and Adrian and their beautiful apartment rental in the very cozy hideaway village of Uzes! Opening the windows of a sixteenth-century building above the little streets, with the cool evening breeze, after a great French meal, and then heading out to explore the market the next morning made for a relaxing getaway. And, the location is perfect for exploring Provence! The lavender fields, Mediterranean Sea, the Roman historical sites and medieval villages are charming and easy to navigate with a rental car. The high-speed TGV train service to Nimes makes Uzes easy-to-reach in only four hours travel from Paris. I would have never expected such quality eating, shopping and sight-seeing to be in such a perfect location (and a safe, small town feeling for our visiting nine-year-old daughter). The four days we spent in Uzes will be the highlight of our two-week trip to France.

A Perfect Retreat
Chez Nous is a perfectly located spot in Uzes. The flat is spacious and well equipped and so beautifully decorated. Susan and Adrian were delightful hosts. We are so glad that we paid attention to their recommendations for day tours in the area. We certainly maximised our brief stay. We will return for sure.

Charming, quiet, picturesque!
My first visit to the south of France and arriving to this beautiful apartment up a winding castle like stairway to a gorgeous, quiet apartment just a minute from the Saturday market, cinema and all the restaurants......I never wanted to leave! All the beauty you could ever imagine you will find here. I'm recommending this place to everyone I know. Can't wait to return and stay for the summer.

At home in Provence!
Susan and Adrian Doull have a gem property in the heart of beautiful Uzès. The house is tucked away on a side street just steps from the picturesque Place des Lices square in the main center of town. Their charming 3 story historic building has all the qualities we were looking for in a 'town' property: great location, quiet and comfort! The guest apartment is located on the top floor and reached by a spectacular winding stone staircase. The living room with high ceilings and a mezzanine extra sleeping loft (great for kids!) overlooks their garden and a small pool. Unfortunately, it wasn't pool season yet but the pool would be a welcome relief for cooling off from the summer heat. The bedroom is well appointed and has a very comfortable queen-size bed. The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped. It was our second visit and we hope to return again soon.

Amazing stay in Charming Uzes
My family of four spent six nights at Chez Vous and had a fantastic time. The apartment is as lovely as the pictures show, it is located just a short walk from the main plaza, and it offers all the comforts of home. I enjoyed the beautiful décor, the comfortable bed and the daily ritual of making my coffee with a Nespresso machine. My husband and boys enjoyed the spacious living area when it was time to watch the Euro2016 futbol matches. The highlight of our stay at Chez Vous was getting to know our hosts, Susan and Adrian, who made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend Chez Vous if you are planning a trip to this beautiful area!

We arrived by rental car from Avignon & the owners actually walked down the street & guided us for parking. Lovely spacious apartment furnished with antiques is in the heart of historic Uzès - no car needed. Airy & quiet, it's on the third floor of an ancient, recently renovated townhouse. Solicitous owners, up-to-date kitchen & bathroom plus free WiFi all give new meaning to Chez Vous. Biweekly open air markets on picturesque Place des Herbes are a 5-minute walk away. Our only caveat is that the spiral stone stairs would not suit the infirm.

Elegant, comfortable, and perfect stay in Provence
From the white stone staircase to the cool ambience of the apartment, Chez Vous was a dream apartment for my stay. It is an incredibly comfortable and spacious apartment, with whimsical and elegant decor and antiques that made it intriguing at every turn, and still pristinely kept. I felt so relaxed sitting with a cup of tea near the windows, with the back view of the garden and Uzès rooftops - a welcome serenity even when I needed to work. A provençal oasis! Susan and Adrian are the most gracious hosts, with the best insider tips. Both Wednesday and Saturday markets are a treat to check out and buy regional products, only a few minutes walk away. Also make sure to climb to the top of the “Duchy of Uzès” aka the Duke’s castle for incredible views. I highly recommend staying at Chez Vous!

A Perfect Place to Stay
The flat is exquisitely furnished and immaculately clean. We continued to notice evidence of the owners' thoughtfulness and brilliant interior design renovations each day. We felt that it was a very good value. The property could not be more centrally located, but is in a quiet, friendly, street. Susan and Adrian left a folder with all the information we would require, including restaurant recommendations. To their "out of town" list, we wish to add L'Artemise, a hilltop restaurant and approximately a 30 minute walk from the flat. Best seen in daylight, so luncheon is the time to go. The chef's 3, 4, and 5-course menus are inspired without being pretentiously and unnecessarily complicated. Susan and Adrian were always immediately reachable via email/text. They were extremely professional but also very friendly. We hope that we will return someday. Uzes is an interesting and beautifully preserved town and Chez Vous is a wonderful place to stay while there.

Outstanding village hideaway!
Chez Vous is an idyllic property in the heart of beautiful Uzès! The apartment, situated on the top floor of a fabulously renovated historic building, is perfectly appointed for a short or long term stay. The 3 story building is steps from cafés, restaurants, shops and the outdoor markets yet a peaceful oasis away from the busy central Place des Herbes. The furnishings are comfortable and chic with personal touches that make you feel at home and not in a rental property. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped for preparing the abundance of fresh and local produce found at the markets or just a coffee and morning croissant. The bedroom is charming with a very comfortable bed and lovely bed linens. Adrian and Susan are welcoming and lovely hosts. I highly recommend Chez Vous and hope to return soon for a longer stay.

Enjoyable, comfortable Apartment in old Uzes
To stay in a charming, newly renovated apartment in a 16th century house in an old French town is a treat. Even the staircase going upstairs is a unique design. The apt. is very spacious with rooms to the front and back ensuring a cross breeze in hot weather. We were very comfortable. It is centrally located. Although parking in old towns is always a problem, there is an underground parking garage nearby (you can purchase a weekly pass). Also visit the "Jardin Medieval" for history. Lots of restaurants nearby. We radiated out from Uzes to other towns nearby. We had an activity filled week here.

Charming 17th century apt with modern conveniences
This elegant apartment was centrally located in a very lively and charming village close to all amenities. Our hosts were very knowledgeable and helpful. There were many good restaurants within walking distance, as everything is in Uzes. The town is a short drive to many interesting sights such as Le Pont du Guard, Nimes, Arles, Orange and many towns along the Mediterranean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend it. Provence is such a lovely part of France.
