I came back home to bury my parents who grew up in the area as well as I. That being a sad goodbye the Bluff House gave us an out

This is the 2nd time we’ve worked with Joe and the 2nd property of his we’ve stayed at. Comfortable, clean, and quiet with a beautiful view. We had a wonderful relaxing time and are excited to do it again in a year. This property had plenty of room and we really enjoyed a nice bonfire one evening. Take it from me, if you stay at one of these properties, you will most certainly do it again.

What an amazing place! The view is spectacular! Joe is awesome to work with! The beds were comfortable, great fire pit, location is the best... can't say enough good about this place and will definitely be back! Thanks, Joe, for sharing your place with us!

The place is very nice and has a beautiful view. Quiet end of the street, which made it very private. The beds, pillows, and linens were fantastic The shower was great after a long day kayaking and exploring. We loved the big farm house table for our family meal times, and the deck to sit on in the morning, listening to the birds. A/C worked great. The wifi worked very well. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. We had our 4 adult kids come in from all different directions of the state, and there was plenty of parking. for 3 small cars and 1 trailer for the kayaks. We kayaked the Kickapoo River and had a blast! About 1 hour drive from the house. Also visited Lansing, IA and LaCrosse, easy drive either way. The only draw back is the 1 bathroom-but it is doable. Loved the cabin feel! we would recommend this place to friends, or maybe return ourselves one day! Owner was very responsive.
Thank You!

This was an excellent place to stay and relax taking in the Mississippi river and surrounding bluffs. The accommodations were new and everything clean. My brothers and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. We rode our motorcycles all over the area, great roads, nice and quiet. Great place to unwind and take in the scenery. The host Joe, was very responsive to my inquiries.

The first thing is the view is great! From the deck, fire pit or even the kitchen!
They have a play set, toys and games which made it a perfect fit for our young kids.
The location is terrific as well quick drive to Lansing, Lacrosse or Prairie du Chien.
The basics were all in order; meaning it was clean comfortable and everything in good working order.
Definitely would stay again.

The house has an incredible view that is hard to find. Although the house could use a bit of a deep clean, the house was perfect for a weekend away to relax.

My wife and I and a few friends have an annual tradition of renting a cabin as a group to get away and relax for a few nights, and we loved this cabin! It was clean, with enough space for all 6 of us plus the dog, and an amazing view! We also had good communication with the owner and met the maintenance person on our last day. He was very friendly.
I cannot overstate how impressive the view of the Mississippi River was from the cabin window. The back porch and patio were great. We also appreciated no traffic and the seclusion of being down a dead end road. Thank you!

Came down for a girl's weekend. The place was clean and comfortable and beautiful. The views are amazing! While one friend had an issue with heights, others really enjoyed the location. Had everything we needed. The surrounding areas were fun to explore as well.

We wanted a clean, comfortable place with a great view and maybe an outdoor firepit, near which we could sit and enjoy a bottle of wine. The Bluff House delivered. The missus is an artist, and while there she started and finished a painting inspired by the view of the river. Even though we just wanted to relax a couple days and putter around the house, there was plenty to do in the area. Recommend it for couples, for sure. Small families or a few friends would probably also enjoy it, especially if the temperature was above 55 degrees. We were there the third weekend in April. JG.

Our stay started a little rough due to a recent April snow storm. We had to do a little shoveling to clear a path to the house and clear the deck, but after that everything was great. The house was clean and inviting. Everything we needed was there. We missed having a working indoor fireplace, but they are in the process of converting it to a gas fireplace. Stay tuned! The multi-head shower was an adventure in itself. It took a while to figure out all the features. Instructions are provided to make the process easier. For some reason the water in the kitchen took a long time to heat up, must be a long run from the water heater. The outdoor deck was perfect for viewing the Mississippi River, and the eagles circling above made it that much more special. The outdoor firepit provided plenty of room and lots of firewood. Again, the view was amazing. We hope to return in the fall during color season. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Thank You! -- Tom & Jan

Everything was wonderful, perfect get away to do nothing but enjoy the amazing view!!
Thanks for being dog friendly!!!

The house and location are fantastic for a get away in the driftless! Plenty of space and accommodations for the young kids to play outside. Great views of the Mississippi, eagles soaring nearly right off the deck and star gazing.
Our only comment is that it was a bit dusty.
Note the bridge to Lansing, IA is down so we made a the longer drive through Prairie du Chein to get to the Driftless Education Center and Museum which was worth it.

We had a wonderful long weekend with a great mix of activity and relaxing. The home was clean and comfortable with AMAZING views! The kitchen, island and table made for fun family dinners. The reclining couch and smart TV were perfect for movie nights! The patios were perfrct…again, the VIEWS!!!
The only surprise for us was that we couldn’t use the inside fireplace… it was noted in the listing details, but we missed it at first.

We stayed here for two nights and had the best family time. Just as is mentioned above, this place was very kid friendly. They had toys for kids and a crib for our baby. Even our dog loved staying here. Our dog loved looking at the woodpeckers on the trees. The view was AMAZING! It is very high up so you could enjoy looking down at the river. We took so many photos of the place so we could show our friends and families. The owners kept the place very clean and had bunch of cookware so we had fun time cooking our meals. We even used the firepit outside to make smores and the view made our smores taste even better. Our kid had fun time playing in the playground they had. They have a swing/seat thing where you could enjoy the view. It felt very private with so much nature surrounding you. We had such a wonderful time here and would love to come back. We can't wait to come visit here again during a different season!

We have stayed in this VRBO in the past and love it's location. The view of the Mississippi River is spectacular! We had great weather and were able to do quite a bit of hiking.

It was a great place for the family. My boys loved the zip line and play space. The view was amazing and allowed us to just sit with coffee and breathe it in. We are big hikers so we enjoyed all the parks and outdoor activities.

This was our second time at the Bluff House... very lovely still. Only complaint is compared to the first time, lots of kitchen utensils missing - might want to replenish some of those! Outside that, lovely place, thank you!

Awesome view! A nice, updated cabin perched on top of a bluff overlooking the town of De Soto, the Mississippi River, and the bluffs beyond. The cabin was clean, comfortable, rustic decor but with modern amenities. It is a quiet area of the state. Plan to drive a little to find food or places to see, or just camp out on the deck and take in the view. We recommend it!

This cabin was cozy, clean and smells amazing. The furniture was comfortable and the bed was very comfy as well the kitchen was lovely and well stocked to do some cooking. The deck was very nice but the most amazing thing of all was the spectacular views. We have never experienced anything like this. We would absolutely love to stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay all around! Peaceful neighborhood, great views, house is as represented online, great communication with owner, Joe. The yard was nice with hammock, swing, zip line, kids area and fire pit. They only things we wished for were screens on more windows and the living room deck door, so we could enjoy more fresh air, and a deck railing with smaller board gap so that our small dogs could not fall through the bottom, but these items did not stop us from having a great vacation. We had no issues with the shower as others mentioned and thought it was great! We would definitely stay again! Try it, you won't be disappointed!!

This was a great place to stay on our anniversary. It was clean with all the necessary amenities that you could want for a cozy relaxing stay. If your looking for a place with an awesome view then this is it. If there is anything to say was a con it would be that there was a lot of wasps out on the deck which made it pretty much unusable for us at the time. It could also use some more screens in windows and the sliding deck door. We would definitely recommend it to others looking to get away off the beaten path and enjoy this comfortable, quiet get away.

Great house. Wish it had 2 baths.
The mattresses should be upgraded.

Great property. Incredible view. This place has to be absolutely optimal during fall colors.
Great communication with host. Everything in the house was straight forward and easy to use. Not hard at all to find with google maps. We have been to some high up properties that are terrifying to drive to. This was not. No sketchy roads. Easy parking and unloading. The cabin was so clean and beautifully laid out. LOVED all the windows. This cabin would be great for one or two small families. Great stuff for the kiddoes. Lots of space to run around in the yard. The trees are placed perfectly to frame the view and provide shade. Such a magical place so high above the river town. If you're looking for a little more to do, La Crosse is a lovely short drive along the river. If you are considering this place, do not hesitate to book it! You will not be disapointed!

We stayed at The Bluff House hoping for a relaxing getaway and that's exactly what we had. The house is nice and quiet, and the views are great. Our favorite things about the house were sitting on the deck for breakfast, and reading in the hammock. We're looking forward to going back again soon!

perfect location for a River Road driving weekend! House fits description. Clean, comfortable with basic amenities. Absolutely amazing views outside. Lovely Patio, Fire pit made for fun nights around the fire. Has a small playground, zip line for kids. But the property is on pretty steep embankment. So, maybe not best for unsupervised little ones. But for adults - it was perfect! would come back w/o hesitation.

My husband and I spent a long weekend at the Bluff House and had the best time! The cabin was as advertised. Very inviting and clean. Of course, the view was amazing! It rained a couple days, so we didn’t enjoy the outdoors as much, but everything was comfortable inside and we were able to enjoy our time. It is close to things to do, yet far enough to truly feel like you “get-away”. We already talked plans to return, but with our kids, who will love the cabin as much as we did!

This property gave us too many reasons to just stick around the cabin each day. Mornings were spent drinking too much coffee as we watched live unfold in the review valley below. Kids kept busy on the hammocks, playground and general property. A late day bonfire was a staple so coals were ready for after dinner s'mores.
Inside was also great. The windows flood the interior with light and give continued access to the phenomenal view. We really enjoyed our time at this special property.
