As high-rise city dwellers we thoroughly enjoyed this Hillside retreat. We were surrounded by forest and even had a fox visit us the first morning. The front porch was perfect to listen to the birds and doing yoga in view of Mt. Equinox was beautiful. Dale was easy to reach and communicated right away. Loved the area and terrific hiking trails.

My family and I can’t stop talking about the wonderful experience we had at the Hillside house. It is nestled away in the beautiful pines of Peru, Vermont. The pictures in the listing are a perfect illustration of the property, but you have to see it for yourself to experience the true beauty of its location. The view of Bromley from the front porch is magnificent. An early morning coffee and a great book are the perfect setting for the front porch. We did a summer trip and this was the perfect place to reflex and enjoy the beauty of Vermont. The interior is immaculately kept and the updated appliances and comforts of home are a nice touch. It’s a home away from home. There was plenty of space for everyone. The books and games were a great touch for a family to have some fun time together. The walking trail around the property was a lot fun for a quick afternoon walk. The added plus is it’s an approximate 15 minute drive from Manchester, which offers shopping and a variety of restaurants. The host was very informative and quickly responded to questions about the property. Excellent rating!

We had such a lovely stay at Hillside. The house is beautiful, and has both open spaces and cozy corners - perfect for socializing and for reading or relaxing all at once! Everything is so thoughtfully laid out, including an incredible kitchen, and the bunk rooms downstairs with the two guest rooms upstairs make it a wonderful place to have a visit with friends/family in a scenic locale. It is such a quick drive to Peru, Bromley Market, and Manchester, but the stunning view of the mountain from the giant main room windows and cozy fireplace makes it hard to leave. It's a real gem and we hope to be back soon!

We really enjoyed the expansive mountain views, the comfortable sofas, and the gorgeous fireplace. The home is surrounded by woods making the views private and unique no matter which room you were in. We skied Stratton. (20-22 minutes) The location was very convenient to Manchester, Weston, and Londonderry. The kitchen was stocked better than my own. The owner was very responsive via text. Staying at Hillside enhanced our trip and we look forward to returning. Thanks Dale!

We were two families with young kids skiing for the weekend at Bromley. This house was SO comfortable. Plenty of space for everyone to sleep, cook, shower, and play comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped and the linens and towels were soft and plush. The location is fantastic- just a minute to the mountain and close to our family favorites like Johnny Seesaw’s. We enjoyed making use of the awesome fireplace. The host was friendly and made the trip easy for us. Will happily rent again!

We came back to Hillside for the second year in a row. The house is fantastic for two families with children and was very clean. Dale was an excellent host and very communicative. The location is great if you skiing Bromley or Stratton.

Beautiful view of foliage and distant mountain through giant windows, terrific fireplace (we made a couple of great fires), comfortable place to be, easy access on and off main road. It was all well appointed, especially the kitchen. So many terrific games (and in great condition)! We were two couples, and we loved hanging out in this welcoming space. The host was super responsive. A great place to stay!

This property was wonderful for our vacation. Nestled in the woods it was secluded but also close to Manchester for restaurants and parks to go hiking. The home is well maintained and very clean. And Dale was super communicative and helpful. Would definitely recommend this home!!

Everything about our trip to Peru, VT was wonderful! The home was beautiful and was a fun vacation spot. Watching a rain storm out of the huge front window was awesome. The location is fantastic, the house is fabulous and perfect for a large family and the neighborhood so quiet. Dale was a perfect host and was easy to communicate with during the trip. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

This home blew away our expectations. We’ve done a lot of CT winter rentals over the years and this was by the far the best one yet. From Dale’s availability, to the ideal family setup, to the cleanliness, it was perfect. We’ll definitely be back!

Hillside was the perfect house for our two family ski vacation to Bromley with 5 kids combined. The kids loved the bunk rooms and all of the books and games the house was stocked with. The house was very comfortable with all the amenities we needed and the host was incredibly responsive. The location to Bromley cannot beat and we will definitely be rebooking!

Our group of 9 skiers friends ranging from high school to almost 50, enjoyed our trip tremendously. The house was clean and well appointed. It is centrally located to many of Vermonts best ski resorts. I would definitely rent this house again.

This was the perfect house for two families to share for a winter ski vacation. Total of 4 adults and 5 kids. The house was well stocked for cooking meals at home and the kids had a great time exploring in the woods. Location perfect for Magic Mountain, Bromley and Okemo. Highly recommend!

A great stay for all! Home was updated and well-equipped - everything we needed for a relaxing and fun family get together with all ages. Home is also convenient to area activities - hiking, skiing, and shopping. Dale was a very considerate and responsive host.

Thank you Dale for the perfect fall weekend getaway. If we rated this house from 1 to 10, with 10 being the best.... Hillside is an 11. The house was clean, orderly, and decorated with a festive flair. A stone's throw from Bromley, a leisurely ride to Manchester, Dorset and Pawlet. The house was stocked with all linens and blankets we could need. The kids and I were excited to see various board games, kids toys, and card games. The host had extra items that were helpful like a baby gate and misc kitchen items.
Oh and the living room view! Priceless! Don't delay.... rent this house for the perfect Vermont vacation.

Had a great stay at Hillside for a long weekend with 5 adult siblings. Location was great (and if anyone likes to snow ski, house is close to a number of ski areas) and the house setup worked well for us.
Dale was a great communicator and checked in on us to make sure all was good.
Nice touches like spices, teas, coffees, and jellies were also nice. And plenty of firewood to use in the great fireplace.
Would definitely recommend this house!

I stayed here with my husband and my parents. From the moment we booked the trip, Dale was very responsive and communicated everything to us clearly. The cabin was clean and cozy. We enjoyed the fireplace every night of our trip, and the beds were very comfy! The location is awesome because you are close enough to the shopping/restaurants of Manchester and surrounding towns, but we our cabin felt private. We all said on the way home that we would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone visiting Vermont!

Lovely updated house with just about everything you need. Secluded yet close to Manchester and the mountains. Great sunny front view and two large wall mounted tvs in adjacent rooms make it easy to keep multiple priorities going at once. The selection of games including darts (!) keep our family focused for hours.
We had a great time and will return.

The house is beautiful. Just off the beaten path but feels private, peaceful and worlds away. Everything was extremely well organized and the information provided was excellent. Everything from easy to follow instructions for all of the house amenities to a full and well thought out book of all you need to know about the area and the amazing things it has to offer. Easy access to all sorts of great hiking, fishing, camping, skiing etc. Also, 10 mins away from Manchester, VT and all the shopping outlets. The house is super cozy and gets beautiful sunshine most of the day. WiFi is strong and everything in the house works great. The host Dale was very communicative and super helpful. Clearly, they know what they’re doing and take a lot of pride in making guests feel welcome and well looked after. Highly recommend boooong this house if you have the chance.
I look forward to visiting again soon!

The house is set up very well with comfortable beds, furniture and good appliances in the kitchen. The house is well located near Bromley on a small private road. Dale was very response and helpful as the host. Highly recommend.

We brought a trailer and motorcycles with us and even though the home is accurately named "Hillside" there was a level parking area for us to park the trailer, and run the motorcycles in at night. The home has everything you need for a great vacation, including comfortable beds, and A/C. The location was great, and we were able to go to a different place for dinner every night. Pearl's Place was our favorite. I would recommend this home for it's central secluded location for a summer vacation or a ski vacation. Dale was very helpful, and responsive to any questions we had while there. He contacted me one evening when they were calling for thunder storms to let me know where flashlights and candles were kept, if we lost power. We didn't lose power, but it was great to know the home was well prepared. Thanks for sharing your home with us Dale.

Vermont Summer Festival
My daughter and I came to Vermont for The Vermont Summer Festival. Our days were long so it was so nice to be able to come back to this lovely house to relax and recharge for the next day. The house was very clean and organized. It is perfectly set up for families and there is plenty for kids to do. All your favorite board games are there including some I haven't seen in years. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you could need. Also, the house is close to everything. Dale, our host, was attentive and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again!

Convenient yet remote house in a national forest
The house is well organized with everything you need to enjoy your stay. It is secluded yet near enough to groceries and outdoor activities. We enjoyed the two separate livings spaces, the fireplace, and ample beds.

Superbly comfortable stay
My partner and I book an extra long weekend in Peru to get out of the city and get some nature time in. We weren't able to stay as long as we hoped due to a family emergency, but the house was gorgeous and incredible welcoming. The hosts' attention to detail and hospitality was evident everywhere, from the external lighting (they adjusted the timers to keep the lights on longer when they realized we would be arriving late!), the fully equipped kitchen to the stocked pantry, bathrooms and games. We had stayed recently at some other very nice properties but had loaded ourselves up with kitchen supplies, tissues, other sundries that we always find missing -- completely unnecessary here. And the place was spotlessly clean and orderly without feeling like a hotel.
Due to external factors, we didn't get much time to enjoy the outdoor activities in and around Peru as we had had hoped, but we enjoyed every minute of time in the house.

Fantastic family rental
The property is great for families. I have stayed in 15+ houses through VBRO and this has been the best thought out for providing supplies and things to do. My college son came for spring break so we wanted a chance to connect with ages from 9- 42. This house allowed that with things from game boards, toys, and a dart board. Plus easy location to great walking trails and the ski run. The house was stocked with wood for the fireplace. The owner was easy to contact. We will defiantly stay here again!

A great place to stay!
We visited this cabin with friends and it was the perfect size for all of us. There were bunk beds for the kids and a separate sitting room with a tv and board games. The kitchen had everything we needed and more! The location was convenient to Stratton Mountain (about 24 minutes) and very close to other ski resorts. It is also conveniently between some small towns (Londonderry and Manchester) if you need groceries or want to go out to eat. Dale was a great host responding quickly with any questions,

Beautiful & Quiet home, well Located
Wonderful stay. Just minutes from center of Peru (general store is amazing!). Close to Manchester, but just the right distance to avoid the crowds. Clean home, new kitchen and great updated bathrooms. Cozy gets lots of views from the tall glass windowed living room. Beds were comfy and lots of space for clothes and gear. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Fall Splendor
We could not be happier with the beautiful property and location. Our host, Dale checked in regularly and was very pleasant to deal with. The home was welcoming and stocked with all necessary amenities. We arrived after dark to find the home well lit with easy access. Centrally located, it made it very convenient for our day trips to Woodstock, Manchester, Dorset, Hildene, Mac Tom Apple Orchards and Equinox Mountain Top. Our friends and myself would certainly recommend the “Hillside” home for your Vermont travels. Thank you Dale for your hospitality.

Perfectly secluded spot!
Loved our week stay and Dale was a fantastic host! They have a bunch of children's accessories there already, including a booster seat, bowls, spoons, and more. perfect if you're traveling with an infant (like we did). The location is wonderful, Peru is smack dab in the middle of Southern VT and within an hour of most everything. The home was incredibly clean and cozy, definitely looking forward to going back again next year!

Exceeded Expectations!
We loved staying at Hillside. We wondered if it could possibly be as nice as the photos indicate and it absolutely is! We all loved staying there and would definitely go back if we ever have an occasion to do so. Highly recommend!!

Pretty, clean and up to date mountain house in a secluded, quiet location
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is attractive and clean. It was quiet and private on a private drive on a hillside in the miniscule village of Peru. The furnishings and features were all very up to date and worked well. Even though it was summer, the weather was very chilly most our visit and we made use of the charming fireplace. If you are looking for a quiet mountain retreat, you will really like this property.

Amazing Property!!
Our group just returned from a lovely long weekend at this property. Myself, my husband, our two young daughters, a family friend and their teenage son spent three full days at Hillside.
Check-in: All necessary information for check-in was provided by Dale prior to our arrival. Any questions we had before arriving were promptly answered. Dale was a great communicator- thank you! Check-in was effortless and simple.
The House: It was clear to me immediately that great care and attention to detail was provided when preparing this rental home. The kitchen was well appointed with everything you could want for preparing food and/or grilling. Basic spices, food storage and condiments were also provided and appreciated. The house was very clean; extra linens were provided. The bed was actually one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in at a rental home (I usually dread sleeping away from home). We stayed during the summer, and while the Vermont weather was beautiful and relatively cool, the air conditioner worked wonderfully, something our group appreciated during the hot moments. There were several awesome rooms for our crew of six to gather in, play games, eat, etc. My girls loved the kids' book selections and games that were available. Dale was kind enough to provide soap/shampoo in the bathrooms, and some other basic supplies. I especially loved the small automatic lights in the closets and rooms which were helpful for moving around when it got dark. All in all, it was a fabulously appointed house that we all commented on several times.
Outside: The name tips you off, but Hillside is definitely on a steep driveway, which wasn't a big deal at all. We had planned to bring the game corn hole, but I'm glad we didn't as the house doesn't really have a yard, which is good to know in advance I would say. There is a cute deck out back, but it quickly turns into forest, and the front is too steep and overgrown to spend anytime outside in, or allow kids to play. But the deck on the front overlooking the forest makes up for it in my opinion.
Dale recommended Hapgood Pond, and I'm so happy he did. About two miles from the house, the pond (more like a lake) is easy to find and, after a $5 honor system fee, provides a great 1-2 mile nature walk around the pond, swimming (no lifeguard), and a place for water activities. We went every day we were there.
All in all a fantastic property. We hope to stay again!!
