We are having a horrible stay here at the melrose b&b. We are very disappointed by the room. The bed is uncomfortable and sloping towards the head. The linen has strong odor of cleaner like it was dried with laundry detergent on. The a/c heater thermostat doesn't work, so the room will reach 100 degrees if not manually turned off. So all night every 20 had to turn on and off manually to avoid freezing or suffocating (it is below freezing outside). We were not given our key code to enter the property even though I signed the contract. I had to enter following another guest, who also gave me the emergency number to call to get the room code. The room has motion sensor light, so if you move, the lights come on and kill your sleep. Although your dad is nice (property care taker) and helpful, it doesn't change the fact we suffered here in Melrose tonight. No sleep. Although policy states no refund, I demand one based on the fact we couldn't enjoy what we paid for.

Clean and comfortable. Free coffee is a great touch. Easy check-in/check-out. Reasonable price.
Pillows were a little small but no big deal

The location was perfect and parking was good.
Issues with the front door accepting my code. Extremely frustrating. It was noisy. I heard creaking and walking all night. At some points I heard someone’s tv.

Charming inn in an old house.
It's minor, but the stairs out front are quite steep.

The location is great. Walk to Asbury Park and the beach is a block away.
The only thing I didn’t like was my private bath was across the hallway. Good thing no one else was in the hallway when I snuck back into my room after a shower wearing my towel.

It was very clean and the close proximity to the beach was nice. The price was very reasonable.
You could hear conversation and music from the other rooms and hallway. The lock system and contactless check-in were awkward.

No breakfast at this location. Liked the fact that you could walk to the beach & also the main street.
Parking on street was sometimes difficult. Had to circle streets a number of times before a spot was found to park.

Clean and no hassle. 2min walk to the beach. Scenic and short walk to Asbury Park boardwalk.

The fixtures and furniture were very nice and clean! The porches are nice and clean also. Staff on site was very friendly. Plenty of parking as it's more on the edge of town.
The hallways are very narrow, so if someone is heavy it would be difficult to fit.

Cleanliness, location
Bed was extremely uncomfortable due to .missing support pieces found laying on the floor under the bed. Mattress dip made for unepleasant nights sleep.

The Hotel is nice, clean and comfortable but I need to stress that this is NOT a Bed & Breakfast nor a quaint Inn. Management works remotely so there is no one actually welcoming you when you arrive. You get a personal code sent to you before your stay that you use for the front door and to enter your room. This access code will not work until 3pm the day of your check in. If there are any issues you must call a number and they will get back to you. Like I said there is no breakfast served but there is a coffee and an ice machine when you first come in the front door.
Otherwise it is a nice place with convenient access to beach and both downtown Ocean Grove and Asbury Park.
In our room the tv was on a dresser at the side of the bed which meant if you wanted to watch it in bed you had to turn your head 45 degrees (and get a stiff neck!) to see it and the person on the other side of you couldn't see it at all.

Location was good
The staff was rude, they gave us the wrong room initially. And then we had a medical emergency and had to call the ambulance. The next morning I was greeted by the staff at my door at 9am after having been at the hospital all night for her to tell me that people complained about noise of THE AMBULANCE BEING THERE. And she rudely told us to pack our stuff and leave. Never coming back to this place and never recommending it. Ridiculously rude.

We were attending a wedding in Asbury Park, so the location was great. In the summer, this would be a prime location for access to the beach and all the nightlife Asbury has to offer.
Advertising for this is very deceptive. I thought it was a B and B, but it's not. There is no staff. You access the main door and door to your room using a key code. The icing on the cake was that the spartan bathroom to our room 2-C (advertised as having a private bath) was across the hallway, also accessible with a code. The sink was in the main room. This was uncomfortable and inconvenient. Fortunately, we the other guests were quiet and we had no issues there. It's run down complete with holes in the wall up to the second floor and a hole in the floor of our room. Thankfully, it seems pretty clean. For the price we paid for two night in October, I felt duped.

No breakfast , only Kuerig coffee machine. No creamer ☹️
I wish they had listed amenities (iron ,steamer , blow dryer) we were attending a wedding and ended up bringing those things with us.

A visible staff would be nice. No common seating areas. Impersonal

it was very cozy. The group I was staying with were all very accessible compared to how friends might be spread out in a larger hotel.
my particular room came with a private bathroom, but it was located outside of the room and in the hall with its own separate access code. So it wasn’t horrible but I wasn’t crazy about it.

tight stair case but it’s an old house
