About this house rental
You are looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway with your family or friends. You appreciate having a spacious home environment in a safe and quiet neighborhood as your home base while you explore the amazing city around you. You and your group are people who care about others and when you travel are conscious of your impact.
Our home is the perfect place for family and friends to come together, whether it’s the family you were born to, the family you chose, or both. (Note: this is a family home with nice neighbors who are our friends...this is not a party house.)
We fell in love with this house over 20 years ago, made it our home, and raised our children here. We cooked and dined together, and shared stories and laughs and games with friends and family. Although we are now spending more and more time out of town, our home holds too many sweet memories to part with it. But, we are delighted to share it with you and the people you make memories with. We think it is your turn to come together and share great food, amazing music, stories, and moments in a home perfectly situated for exploring Los Angeles.
Spacious Comfy Home: The house contains five spacious bedrooms and four bathrooms, a large family room/library, a well-outfitted kitchen, a great room/living room with wood-burning fireplace, a private deck for daytime sunning or late night stargazing, a tuned piano for singalongs, big picture windows that look out on a peaceful and lush backyard patio and playhouse, and work desks are abundant for families like ours that blend work and play. There is also a basketball hoop in the front driveway, as well as a number of other spaces for hanging out, playing, gathering. (Please note that use of the yard and balcony MUST end no later than 11pm, so as not to disturb the sleep and peace of our neighbors.)
The house itself is topped with solar panels. It is important to our family that we have a low carbon footprint and we work hard to make this living space as sustainable as possible.
Sanitized for you. We allow at least 1 night between guest stays and have the house deep cleaned and sanitized before each visit for your safety and security. This is a much better option than a hotel, where there is a constant flow of unknown people and germs!
Tons of Amenities: We have six brand new memory foam beds: two kings, two queens, and two twins (that convert to a third king).
The largest two bedrooms are set up with brand new comfy convertible sleeper sofas (none of those awkward metal pullouts!) to be easily used for two adults to have sweet private hang out time or for parents and young children to sleep four comfortably. Couches in the living room (downstairs) and family room/library (upstairs) also turn into comfy pullout beds for even more potential sleeping spaces.
These two upstairs bedrooms share access to a peaceful deck overlooking the beautiful yard and bottlebrush tree that attracts butterflies and hummingbirds at the right time of year. Perfect spot for morning coffee or late afternoon wine.
We love to cook, and the kitchen is full of appliances and gadgets. There are lots of plates and serving dishes. We are also big connoisseurs of music, movies and reading. You’ll find a full library filled with tons of great books for adults and kids. We hope you’ll enjoy our massive CD collection, as well as an assortment of different musical instruments from around the world, and a substantial selection of both children’s and popular movies on VHS and DVD. Music players both upstairs and down provide great soundtracks for your time here. Four televisions give you access to your own streaming entertainment. There are also several lifetimes’ worth of games and puzzles to pass the time.
Central Location: We are in Mar Vista, a West Los Angeles Oasis! Hidden from the world, yet close to everything. Mar Vista offers a hot restaurant scene (we provide lots of restaurant tips and things to do nearby).
We’re also just a few minutes from all the amazing restaurants on Sawtelle just north of Olympic. It’s just 15 minutes to the beach, Culver City, Abbot Kinney, Westwood and LAX. We are 20 minutes from Century City and Beverly Hills, or Downtown LA and a plethora of Santa Monica Mountains hiking trails…and it’s just a little further to Hollywood. You’ll be just 5 minutes from either the 405 or 10 freeway on-ramps which give you easy access to downtown LA, the San Fernando Valley the South Bay and beyond.
There is a great park within walking distance with picnic areas, basketball courts, a public pool and kids camp (in the summer), tennis courts, a soccer field, baseball fields and a hockey rink, as well as a large playground for younger children.

The location of the property was excellent. LAX, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach and other sites were within minutes to get to, property was spacious and comfortable.

This property was EVERYTHING we could have wanted and more. Quiet,clean and centrally located. Lots of games,books, and instruments. Lots of space for our group of 8. Could easily fit another 5 no problem! Great communication with host. Plenty of parking.Safe for my family, which is critical! Look no further. We will be back!!

We were in town for a wedding and our family was 2 grandparents, 3 adult children, a toddler and an infant. The house was very well suited to our needs - adjacent bedrooms, lots of bathrooms, open concept floor plan, full kitchen, and a nice fenced in yard. We used the outdoor charcoal grill and found what we needed in the kitchen to reheat prepared foods.
The check-in process was very easy, and every question I had was answered promptly.
The location was great - nice sidewalks for walking, a nearby playground, close to Whole Foods, the 10 and the 405.
We all enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

Our company needed to house 5 workers for two weeks and the house was spacious enough for them and comfortable. Very close to their jobsite and other locations. My crew liked it very much.

Sharon's house was exactly as advertised, namely wonderful. There was, as we had hoped, plenty of space – two gathering areas and all the bedrooms were amply sized, with two of them having very nice en suite bathrooms. We did a lot of cooking, and the kitchen was very well supplied – it even had sharp knives! The dining room table stretched to fit 10 people comfortably.
Sharon was incredibly responsive. When we discovered a bad leak from the kitchen sink on Day 2, I had barely hung up the phone when the plumber appeared and replaced a defective disposer. Each of the three TVs had an AppleTV connected, which allowed folks to log in under their own accounts and watch whatever, or to access a good bit of content without logging in. Lovely playhouse and yard, the former being a big hit with our 7-yr old.
The location is very convenient – several good markets (including a Whole Foods) within a few blocks and very quick access to the 10 and the 405.

This place was perfect for our large family gathering. With 5 spacious bedrooms and ample common area space, everyone was comfortable and had plenty of room. We especially enjoyed the gated backyard which was perfect for safe, playtime for the youngest in our group. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed and the neighborhood was just wonderful. You can tell it is/was a well lived in and loved home :)

Our large family ( great- grandmother, grandparents and two sets of adult children plus their families, 11 in all) foregathered in Los Angles for Thanksgiving. This was THE PERFECT house in all respects. As we said to Sharon, the delightful, responsive and hospitable proprietor, the house reminded us all of the Room of Requirements at Hogwarts! Every time anyone wished for or needed anything, it was magically found in this treasure trove of a house. There was plenty of space and implements to cook and serve at home, many games and tables for games, an extraordinarily well-stocked library. This gracious and immaculate house had enough bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate us all extremely comfortably, easy to access wifi, more televisions than we needed ( to the delight of the children who seemed to need every one). We enjoyed sitting and visiting in the garden and the children played extensively in the playhouse . It should be noted that there is also a fantastic playground a 5 minute walk away. Also easy to access were supermarkets, pharmacies and restaurants. Sharon was remarkably understanding and flexible about our arrival and departure times and I am extremely grateful to her for all of her many kindnesses. We very much hope to be able to rent this house again in the future and tried to be impeccable guests who will be welcomed again. Many thanks for a great home base in Mar Vista.

Great space to accommodate multi generational family. A bit outdated baths and kitchen, but it all worked. No air conditioning which was an issue for a few warm days and nights. Overall very good- excellent location.

Family reunion in Mar Vista
We had a very happy and comfortable stay in Sharon’s home. As a host, Sharon is super responsive and accommodating, She is a fast and reliable communicator , which is much appreciated when traveling to unknown destinations with larger groups of people. The home: large, bright, spacious, with comfortable furniture and mattresses. There are two dining tables indoors , and an outdoor patio dining table and ample seating. Two of the five bedrooms have either a king or queen bed plus one futon each for additional sleeping options. I can’t stress enough how well suited this house was for our group of 12. 12 is a lot of people ! But you just don’t feel it in this house. Kitchen is fully equipped and updated. Laundry machines are enormous and in an easy and convenient location (right off of kitchen). Back yard has enough space to toss a frisbee and kick a soccer ball around. Driveway has a basket ball hoop. The neighborhood is very residential, quiet and feels very safe. There is a sand playground three blocks down the road at the Mar Vista Rec Center with basketball courts as well and grassy areas for more running around. Grocery stores (Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s) are a ten minute WALK away. There are pharmacies a short drive away and many restaurants close by as well. The location is really pretty perfect as you are around 20 minutes from the airport . Venice Beach is close by as well, and for runners, a pleasant jog away. Driveway space is enough for two cars packed in tightly and there is also ample street parking. There is no AC so this is a consideration If you travel in the summer , though each room has a fan and at least 3-4 rooms have ceiling fans as well. I have no idea how hot it may feel in the dry LA summer heat, so I can’t say if having no AC is a big deal or not. We were there when daily temps were in the 60’s and 70’s and had no use for it. Other cool features are the wood burning fireplace, a charcoal outdoor grill , and an upstairs family room filled with sunshine, hundreds of books, board games,, musical instruments (piano, tambores, wooden flutes from all over the globe) and a karaoke machine! Kids had so much in this room. We would recommend this home wholeheartedly to others and would stay again. Thank you, Sharon, for opening up your gorgeous family home to us. Our trip would not have been nearly as comfortable and enjoyable otherwise!

Love this house!
We’ve had the pleasure of staying at this house twice with family and it’s so great! Has everything you need and so much space for LA! Back yard is great for the kiddos. The owner is very easy to communicate with and helps with anything you need. Right down the street from grocery store, Starbucks, etc! Hope to come back again!

Great for large groups
Great space for large groups with adequate bathrooms as well. Easy to get to places, especially in Santa Monica and Venice areas. Fast communication with hosts. We only wish there was AC (as open windows is not an ideal solution especially if you’re trying to keep noise contained in this quiet neighborhood). Otherwise, great place to stay

The perfect stay for a large group!
The house was true to picture and perfect for a group of 6 women who all got their own room. And with 4 bathrooms everyone was able to shower and whatnot without waiting too long. The location was perfect, especially given how long it takes to get to everything in LA county due to traffic. Sharon was a wonderful host and very accommodating. For example, when we needed extra paper towels she had someone quickly deliver them that day. All in all, it was a great stay and everything functioned properly.

Perfect for our family reunion!
We loved the Reunion House! It was a perfect for our family and the location was great too. The neighborhood is very nice with Ralph's down the street and Whole Foods nearby. With the beaches and the airport only about a 10-15 minute ride, made this the perfect weekend reunion spot. We spent most of our time in the main part of the house.
We all fit comfortably together inside or outside or a combination of both. The kids loved the playhouse and lawn to run around, while the big picture windows let the adults watch and stay inside if it was too hot or cold (spring weather) for them.
The kitchen had everything we needed. The one area we didn't have time to really enjoy was the library. What a cool collection of items! If you're looking for a cozy place to gather, we highly recommend the Renuion House.
Sharon was great as a hostess. Thorough and simplicity. I especially loved the ease of check in and check out. She was also very responsive to our requests.
Some loved the pillows, some didn't, but when you have that many people, you can't always please everyone on every little thing. Sharon, thanks again! We'll be back.

Loved our stay
We absolutely loved our stay at this VRBO. The owner was so accommodating and responsive to my phone calls and requests before we arrived. The house was perfect for our needs--bedrooms were huge with very comfortable beds, the kitchen/living space was just what 10 people needed and the parking was plentiful. The playhouse in the back yard was a hit with the little ones and the adults spent lots of time on the backyard patio. It really felt like we had been invited to stay at a friend"s home.
