Everything my room the view from the balcony over looking the ocean the roof top lounge was just as amazing you can watch the sunset every evening at 6 , dinner on the beach buffet style at 6 to 8 , jazz on Friday by the pool at night just amazing views
The meals were not all inclusive and should be as much as you pay to stay

Nice pool and great staff & food ast
Beach is a mess and All beach games were broken - Also silly that when you purchase a room with includes breakfast, you have to pay for it everyday and then fight at check out for the credit

Modern, clean, upscale hotel. The staff we all very helpful, polite, and friendly. Special mention to Eric, who was always on hand to help with a smile.
Lovely pool area.
The gym was limited but OK, some construction work is being done to the gym/spa, so maybe bigger/better when finished.

We had a fabulous time. The property is beautiful, safe, modern, and every staff member we encountered had superior customer service.
The only thing that was a little disappointing was that we were traveling with a group of over 20 friends and family, I believe we had at least 10 rooms. There were some in our group that booked the same class of room that I did and their rooms were so much better! While I thought our rooms were sufficient, it was disappointing to learn that we paid hundreds of dollars more for our room than some of those friends and their room was much nicer.

Everything from the staff to the food was amazing.
It’s a little pricey but it’s worth it

The pool was amazing and the vibe is very cool and fun.The sushi at the rooftop is delicious and the view just amazing. The suites are beautiful, we had a great stay there, lots of space, clean and modern. Breakfast was delicious but pricey.
The cabanas and some beds are only for rental or if you are staying at the villas. The team needs more training and better attitude, the service is so so, nothing special, maybe they don't care or it was because it was low season.

Breakfast was perfect. Excellent menu, lots of choices.
Everything was great. No complaints at all. Love the hotel.

Alaia Resort
Servers: Lucia, Blanca, Cyndi
Bellman: Elvis
Front desk: Jorge
To set some reviewing context, I am from an island country that is renowned for its beaches, crystal clear water and resorts, so when I travel to other countries boasting these amenities, I am very judgemental! 😬
That being said, Alaia Resort on Ambergris Caye, Belize is exceptional. I always give any praise to a resort, first and foremost, to its staff. The staff at Alaia are warm, friendly and helpful. They remember your name (Cyndi) and are willing to help with anything.
The property itself is immaculate. The grounds are kept clean, the rooms are modern. This ‘resort’ has a resort feel without being a massive property that you can get lost in. I saw another review mention cats. I saw 3 the whole time we were there (6 days). They are tiny, undernourished and stay away from people.
There are 3 pools on the property. I’m not sure why they don’t boast more about the suspended pool ( 6 floors up) with a glass bottom, it’s pretty awesome!
Food: pricing is what you’d expect for an island and any vacation resort, frankly. If you’re an American traveler, take the price of what you’d pay in the States and double it. If you’re from the south, triple it. Food quality: breakfast buffet is good. Restaurant food is fair.
Alaia, thanks for doing such a great job maintain a beautiful property and for a great stay!
Beach: Yikes. The hotel tries desperately to maintain some semblance of a beach, but with a sargassum (seaweed) problem right now (thanks climate change), we did not go into the water. If I can’t see my feet, it’s not happening.
(Excursions to Secret Beach were a disappointment also. But again, my beach criteria bar is very high.)
The property has opportunities for excursions to the Barrier Reef and they were reasonably priced. This is the best way to get to real Caribbean Sea swimming and experience beautiful underwater life.

We didn’t know there was complementary breakfasts that would have been nice to know.

I love the gentleman that showed us to our room and explained absolutely everything, I also enjoyed speaking with Matthew, the front desk gentlemen, he was also very helpful.
I didn’t like that one of the pool waitress, asked me to get a guest pass when I was already staying there.

THE HOTEL WAS PROBABLY THE BEST IF SEEN YET IN BELIZE. I WAS BORN THERE AND VISIT OFTEN AND I HAVENT VISITED A FACILITY THERE YET ON THE LEVEL THAT THIS ONE IS ON. THE COLD TOWEL AND DRINK UPON ENTRANCE!
I DID NOT LIKE THE PASTA. ALL THE BELIZEAN FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD

Food was good but I believe I was taxed two times on all my food . And check in
A young girl got extremely drunk and had to be wheeled away in a wheelchair . Can anything be done about serving alcohol to young adult . Could there be a cut off by bartender when a young adult gets extremely drunk . How dangerous if she had sank in the pool and no one noticed her ? Everyone was upset about it . Please find solution to this .at breakfast she was complaining how no one stopped her or pull her aside and spoke to her . Not your responsibility --- yes ... but have the bartender call management in these cases .

The cleanliness, the location, check in and check out was streamlined. Regular staff where very accommodating, close proximity
Bar staff where sometimes rude , the concierge was rude. The beach front was really bad

The breakfast was awesome. Did not like that it was far from the water taxi. Loved the staff. Did not like my room location. To much noise.
The location of my room. 1228.. to much noise. Would not recommend.

Amazing resort. The ambiance was great and the staff was super welcoming and made us feel at home.
Wi-Fi could be better

We had an excellent stay at Alaia. The staff was very caring and helpful, both in providing information and with dealing with a noise complaint. We had a great couples massage in the spa and the pools are perfect for lounging around, with a swim-up bar and plenty of chairs available. The living area in the room itself is on the smaller side, but we had enough room for our luggage, the bathroom is large and the climate control gave the room a nice temperature throughout the day. The shower had a strong flow and the temperature control worked well. The various restaurants offered good food, though on the pricier side (if you want to save some money, walk a few minutes down the street to South Station grill). The hotel looks amazing with soft colours, green and light coloured wood. We would love to come back in the future. The hotel rents out golfcarts and the boats to the reefs leave from their own dock.
Though the staff worked hard every morning to clear away the seaweed, the beach that comes with the resort isn't the greatest. Many people went to Secret Beach instead, though we were fine staying at the pool.
Our room had a connecting door to another room, which was fine for most nights but had a drunk couple on one night making a lot of noise. Staff dealt with the noise complaint.

BREAKFAST WAS SATIFYING
4.6
The property is very beautiful and kept up. The housekeeper/s did a great job keeping the room tidy. Also, we loved our suite! My friend and I stayed in the 2 bedroom oceanfront suite and it could have easily slept 3 additional people, very spacious!
If you haven't read the other reviews, you can't use the beach which sucks because it is a beach front property.
Also, I honestly feel like for the amount of money they charge, a continental breakfast should AT LEAST be included.
4.6
The facilities and layout were fantastic. Breakfast was disappointing, mainly because we were told (when we asked a member of staff on the first day) that fresh eggs (ie omelettes and poached eggs etc) were not included in the buffet which made it limiting. We only found out on our last morning that actually they were included so we were very annoyed.
Other food that we tried was absolutely lovely.
The rooms were lovely, especially the bathroom area.
You had some truly excellent staff but others - in particular the young female concierge - were lacking in customer service skills for such a high quality establishment. Perhaps it was a cultural thing in her manner and the way she said some things but we were made to feel a bit second rate a few times.
Also didn't like the fact that groups of people were allowed to play their own music around the pool(s) - including rooftop. Didn't think this should be allowed.
4.6
I like that the property was very clean and very secure the lobby staff (Gonzalal not sure how to spell his name) was the perfect example of excellent customer service from greeting us and the way he treated us on a daily basis was amazing! Also, the lobby, staff member I can’t remember his name. He was very helpful with planning our excursion and making a reservation for restaurants. I really do appreciate that that made it very easy. I was celebrating my 40th birthday here and I thought it was very thoughtful and caring that I received a beautiful cake upon my arrival in my room. I am very grateful and happy for that.
I didn’t like the fact that I had to ask about getting more water in my rooms. The all-inclusive breakfast was not explained correctly until the last morning I was there, and I thank Omar for that he was very kind. He explained everything and his spirit was very welcoming and pleasing to be around. We missed out on so many opportunities when it came to the breakfast options because no one explain them to us. I didn’t like the fact that some days I was charged a tip automatically 10% when I prefer to pay in cash and not to my room. So I was being charged twice for service. It was corrected at the end, but that can be very frustrating when you’re trying to check out and have to prove that.

What you would expect of a high end resort. Great facilities and service.
The room was a bit small for the amount paid.
