I loved that my room was right over the water, and the decor was very attractive.

The amazing views and cabins
The extra charges for bringing food to your room and there is very dark at night unable to be outside …

Loved it because it was quiet and not busy. Walking distance from shopping and eating locations

The view
Pool was not clean
4.5 / 5.0
the room views, the location, all the open spaces, the greenery, lots of birds . the swimming pool design.
not so clean and needs a little more detail maintenance. the mattress had a foam top that should be cover with a mattress cover and not just with a sheet. in other words the bedding was poor. No toiletries. a safety box very small and not attached to anything. love their breakfast! Our first night we find out that we were alone in the hotel, we found another couple that like us , we’re trying to find someone from the staff and nobody was in. After a while the gate keeper or someone in charge of something, showed up and trying to help. Very strange feeling.

The location is nice and quiet.
When I would go out and wanted to enter the gate it would not open w motion of car. We had to ring and ring the door bell for someone to open gate, when I had to leave to airport I was stuck inside no one would answer and we rang a few times a loud bell. Called a few times no one answered u til finally 15 min later someone just opened the gate. I felt like a kid again couldn’t come in and out. Maybe theirs a curfew? Idk no one informed us.

This place is incredible! Our cabin was perfectly designed, very private, with loads of light and beautiful views, super comfortable huge bed and a terrace with amazing views including the sunset. We loved hanging out by the pool and kayaking on the lake. Staff were very nice.

I liked everything

What I liked:
Safety and tranquil atmosphere. The location is gated and has a very calm relaxing vibe.
Gorgeous design with beauty all around you.
There are several fun activities to do. There is a pool table, a gym, archery practice, and of course, the pool.
Atention to detail from housekeeping with decorated towels and linens.
White sheets and fuzzy plush blankets for both beds was a nice bonus.
Complementary coffee pods with cups and spoons. Microwave available for takeout leftovers.
I don’t use these things, but they had Q-tips, makeup remover pads, and a hair dryer. Thoughtful details.
The restaurant food is amazing.
Stall was helpful and professional.
What I did NOT like:
Outdoor lighting was never turned on the 2 nights we were there. I was excited to see beautiful outdoor lighting and had hoped I could enjoy snacks and drinks outside at night. Even the hallway lights were turned off and no walkway lights were on. Fall hazard for sure. The bar and restaurant also close early.
The fridge already had drinks and snacks inside but they are extra charge. I disliked this because I like to rent locations with refrigerators because I intend to use them. This leaves less room for the things I want inside. I do like that they were upfront about it though. I prefer when hotels have a fridge area at the main desk. This way if I want something, I can buy it, but without having those things “suggestive sale” in my room.
No lamps in bedroom we stayed in. There was only one main light source in the 2 queen room. Because we had two beds, it would have been nice to have a small lamp or light where one person could be up without disturbing the other.

the view.
loud construction noises. Bed was very uncomfortable, the wooden pieces would keep falling off. No microwave & fridge was a big thumbs down.

Great location, friendly staff.
Didn’t realize the restaurant was only open on weekends but that was probably lost in translation as I know very little Spanish.

We loved this place. Our beautiful bungalow was right next to the water. Very clean and very quiet. Staff were professional and attentive to all our needs. I highly recommend this property if your looking for a quiet place to recharge. It’s away from everything but still close enough, only a 5-10 minute drive to either Ajijic or Chapala.

The location and shared areas are perfect. Everything is perfectly clean. The staff, although insufficient, is super kind and helpful.
The place claims to be a boutique hotel but the truth is that it is a sports club with some rooms in it. They have a lovely man that does the check ins and check outs but he also does other things. We had to wait a long time to check in and to check out because he had other chores to do. We had breakfast included and we discovered that they have bottled orange juice and average coffee for hotel guests and freshly pressed orange juice and nice coffe for club members. The room is nice but doesnt have proper heating. We were freezing the first night and had to turn on a plug-in heater that had a stadium-like light which made it difficult to sleep. On top of that we couldn´t request more blankets because the room does not have a phone and no one can assist you. The second night I had to walk all the way to the parking to ask the kind nightwatch to give us a couple. In summary, the place is very nice but they do not have boutique-hotel-like services or meals.

Very exclusive and quiet- huge shallow pool great for kids. Great staff that is very accommodating and extremely attentive.
Just be sure to pack enough bug spray and calamine lotion. Its very tropical here which is part of the beauty!

Very very accommodating staff. Outstanding kitchen, reasonably priced. Very clean. Nice climate. The town of Ajijic and neighboring and larger, more historic Chapala are remarkably inexpensive. Hardly any chain hotels or restaurants, a lot of family owned places. The people are just wonderful; patient, polite, industrious and honest.
It’s more of a private club which caters to Mexicans from Guadalajara; not everyone at Nimue speaks English and we only know basic Spanish so this led to occasional difficulties. Mexican culture seems to be getting more like US culture every year but it is still pretty different. I thought the waterfront of Lake Chapala would be nicer but you can’t blame Nimue for this; we are used to the sands of Lake Michigan.
