The Bailey offers a unique option for those looking for something a bit different, in the form of our quirky but luxurious Shepherd’s Hut. Whether you’re looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life, or a romantic getaway, the Shepherd’s Hut is perfect. The Shepherd's Hut was built to our unique design and provides comfort, romance and a step away from the norm.
The Shepherd’s Hut was custom built to our detailed specifications to accommodate two people in luxury. It has fully plumbed in facilities including a plush bathroom and a beautiful fully equipped kitchen. We have fitted a log burner for cooler evenings but it has electric heating too to give you the most comfortable stay possible. Simply, it’s a one of a kind!
The Shepherd’s Hut is charmingly quaint and within its spacious interior you’ll find a stunning, modern and clean en-suite shower room, a fully equipped kitchen which includes a fridge, hob, oven, kettle, toaster and of course a kitchen sink. We’ve taken the utmost care to choose the comfiest bed we could find and also include top quality bedding to ensure you have the best night’s sleep possible. We also provide towels. The Shepherd’s Hut includes a wood burning stove which will warm you as you enjoy the stunning sunsets over sheep pastures, whatever time of year you visit.
Whilst check in is from 15:00 and check out by 10:00, guests are welcome to park up from 12:00 noon to explore Skipton and can remain parked until 12:00 noon on the day of departure.
The Bailey is a holiday destination consisting of a quirky Shepherd’s Hut, dog-friendly Holiday Cottage and a boutique Bed and Breakfast in Skipton, North Yorkshire. The 300 year old house contains the 2 beautiful boutique BnB rooms whilst the old dairy is now a self contained holiday cottage. At the far end of a beautiful landscaped garden is our quirky Shepherd's Hut. We have recently been given a Guest Review Award by Booking.com for achieving an average score of 9.8 out of 10.
All our accommodation types come with free parking, all bedding and towels included and free WiFi. Whilst check in is from 15:00 and check out is by 10:00, guests are welcome to park from 12:00 noon and remain parked until 12:00 noon on the day of departure. Electric Vehicle (EV) charging is available on site.

The Shepard’s Hut was very cosy and well equipped for 2 people. The host - Mark was very friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about local places to eat and drink etc. Accommodation was a 2 minute walk away from the town centre / castle. I would most definitely stay here again.

This was an amazing place to stay. So well looked after and the shepherd hut whilst close by feels cozily remote. Best nights sleep of my adult life lol. I was fully restored the next day which was handy because I was house hunting :)

On arrival we received a warm welcome from Mark the owner, he was feeding his chickens that live in the field with the sheep which set the scene.
Staying in a Shepherd’s Hut was a first for us.
It was portrayed well in the photos but it was actually cuter in reality & bigger than anticipated.
We had everything we needed in the hut plus more with the addition of the gorgeous handmade sheep quilt on the bed
It was a fabulous first time experience for us.

Wow.. What a lovely stay in Shepherds hut. Mark and Kay are great hosts very friendly and informative. We stayed in the hut for 5 nights and was a great base for Skipton. The bed was extremely comfy and so relaxing for a peaceful nights sleep. Only 5 minutes walk to Skipton town centre. Can't wait to stay again next year. The garden is lovely too with little visitors, from robins to squirrels.

Mark and Kay the hosts were warm, welcoming and helpful. The accomodation is located centrally to Skipton but is a hidden gem set in beautiful secluded private gardens , overlooking stunning scenery. Most tranquil. The quirky Shepherds Hut is lovely and clean, fully equipped to cater for all your holiday necessities.

Our second time at the shepherds hut at the Baileys and once again absolutely perfect. From accomodation,location hosts cannot fault. If you want a peaceful but everything on your doorstep to explore kind of holiday look no further than the Baileys. Highly recommended thanks for having us.

Our Stay at the Bailey Bed and Breakfast was perfection. I could not fault anything.
The shepherd’s hut was absolutely beautiful ,furnished to a very high standard. The owners had thought of everything including an umbrella . The bathroom was perfect with a good shower and fluffy towels. It was nice to see how eco friendly they were providing bottles of shower gel rather than individual sachets.
As for the breakfast it was delicious. So many homemade jams , home baked bread and fresh eggs .

Really enjoyed our stay here in the Shepherds hut, I wanted something romantic and quirky for my partner's suprise birthday trip and this definitely delivered. It felt like you were staying in the countryside yet you were literally on the Skipton centres doorstep.
Fully equipped everything you needed.

5 minutes walk and you're in the bustle of Skipton, an abundance of pubs, shops eateries.
A short walk and you're taking in some beautiful scenery.

The family were staying in both the apartment and the shepherd's hut for three nights, as a base for our son's wedding. We had a friendly welcome, greeted with treats and spotlessly clean and well equipped accommodation. Minutes from the centre of town, but quiet and peaceful at the same time. We couldn't have hoped for more. Many thanks!

The hut is perfect, so very comfortable and well equipped. This time we visited in summer and the garden is beautiful and lovely for sitting out with a drink. We loved the experience yet again and will be back. Mark and Kay are wonderful hosts and always make us feel very welcome.

The Shepherd's Hut, at the far end of the hosts' generous sized garden, was very clean, well equipped, cosy and more spacious than I expected. Very comfortable bed, plenty of hot water and the kitchen was well equipped so guests can either cook or walk into Skipton centre (5 minutes) to one of the restaurants. On site parking was very handy and the hosts are friendly and welcoming. Really lovely experience and cute quirky accommodation.

The Shepherds Hut is perfect for a short break. It is well equipped, a comfortable bed and is spotlessly clean.

We had a wonderful stay in the shepherds hut in the garden. We have stayed at the b&b at the Bailey before so thought we would try the shepherds hut and were not disappointed. It’s gorgeous

We had a wonderful stay. The Shepherds Hut was very clean and cosy, despite it being frosty outside we didn’t feel the cold at all! Mark was a great host - very friendly and polite. We have recommended the place to a friends and we hope to be able to stay here again soon!

We have stayed in The Bailey before and have loved it each time. Mark and Kay are great hosts, the breakfast is excellent including freshly baked bread - yummy - and the location is beautiful. Lots to explore, so we will be back 😁

We visited Skipton for the first time and found it to be a lovely town. The accommodation although peaceful was very close to the town centre, and the Castle. The Shepherds hut featured all the required facilities : shower, good bathroom, great towels and an ample kitchen. The sleeping arrangement was ok and the wardrobe quite adequate.

With an entrance separate from, but close enough to, the main buildings and its own garden the Shepherd's Hut is an unusual treat. Cosy without feeling at all confined it was warm, comfortable and stylish with a well thought out layout making more than we would have though possible of the space. The kitchen fully met our needs. The bed was full sized. The bathroom is as large as in most B&Bs and spotless. Mark and Kay were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful without being at all intrusive.
