About this house rental
Featured on HGTV "Island Hunters" and Grandeur Magazine "Paradise Found", imagine your own 4 acre Island in Sanibel, Florida complete with private beach, solar heated pool, dock & 360 degree views as well as a Hurricane Deck Boat included at no addition cost (up to $650 per day value - compared to rentals from local marinas). Crescent Island is quite special for the fact that it is truly a private island, with only one home on the entire four acre island, and a dock that provides unrestricted access to the Gulf and the Intracoastal Waterway. For anyone who desires to escape the madness on the mainland to their own private island retreat, or simply a peaceful spot of respite along the Florida coastline for themselves, your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity awaits. Property includes three levels of decks including a 360 degree upper deck & a screened in deck off the living room. The “Old-Florida” style home features three levels, sleeps up to 12 over 5 sleeping spaces (3 bedrooms and a large private cabana and a bonus room with queen pull-out couch), 4.5 inside baths+additional outdoor shower, a rec room with foldout bar (and kitchenette) to the beach deck (and a pullout which sleeps two) and boasts breathtaking 360-degree views from every level. An artesian, freshwater well supplies life to the property.
Inside, captivating waterfront views surround the residence, giving one the feeling of complete isolation from the mainland and its complications. All amenities are provided including solar power (with a backup generator), washer/dryer, full kitchen with large dining table, fireplace, Dish TV, Satellite internet, kayaks, water equipment and a heated pool.
The cabana has one king, ensuite bath and kitchenette and is located across the beach from the main house.
The master suite has one king bed and ensuite bath. The master suite provides a private deck, with views of Pine Island Sound, Sanibel Island and the nature preserve.
The second upstairs bedroom has a double bed and a twin bed. This loft bedroom includes a full ensuite bath.
The third bedroom is located on the main level. It also has a double and a twin bed. The main level also features a half bath and an outdoor shower on the outside deck beachfront.
Surrounding the residence is a serene setting provided by mangroves, tropical and subtropical foliage, and the water teeming with wildlife – coastal seabirds, fish, dolphins and manatees. Just north of the island is magnificent Boca Grande Pass, world-renowned for sport Tarpon fishing. Kayak, watch the dolphins, take a ride on your boat and return just in time for dinner with the catch of the day – your recreation options are practically endless.
Multiple restaurants (Waterfront Restaurant and Marina is 5 mins by boat, Grandma Dots on Sanibel is 12 mins), historical towns such as Matlacha and civilized amenities are available by a short boat ride to St. James City, Sanibel (12 mins away), Captiva Island, Boca Grand (48 mins) Pine Island, or Fort Myers. Grocery, pharmacy, bank and other services are available near the property. The Waterfront Restaurant & Marina is the closest restaurant only five minutes boat ride away. Grandma Dots on Sanibel Island is a twelve minute boat ride.
Parking will be provided at a local Inn that we own. This Inn is where we will meet you and familiarize you with your boat. The 23' deck boat is provided for your own use (which stays with you at the Island for the duration of your stay). It is provided as a courtesy at no extra charge (similar boats rent for up to $650 per day from local Marinas). The island includes a 30' dock where the boat can be docked for the duration of your stay. The island is only 1000 ft. from St. James Town, and a few minutes from where your car will be parked. We can also handle luggage transfers & we accompany you to the island upon arrival to introduce you to the property and its amenities, as well as those of the local area and are always ready to help you with anything that might come up during your stay.
One of a kind Crescent Island is close enough to civilization to be convenient, yet far enough offshore for a cozy, intimate getaway or time well spent with family and friends. Morning sunrises to the east over the mainland, and sunsets over the Wildlife Refuge in the evening to the west; the views are breathtaking.
The whole island is yours !

Summer Stay-Cation
When you arrive you will not want to leave. Pack lightly and remember you are on an island. :) We saw dolphins daily and 4 of them came by the porch at sunset to say hello! My husband caught red fish, trout, and salt water catfish from the front porch. We were outside from sun up to sun down daily. Dave and Louise are the BEST!! They truly thought of everything. We hope to see you again soon!!!!

Island Getaway
#1 Crescent Island
Review for visit June 4 – 11, 2022
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house, private island and exploring the other islands and beaches. Local restaurants are great. Oysters, fish and shrimp to die for right on the water – by car or boat. Being able to park and be at the boat dock was great. Really made shore trips a breeze. The owners and staff were also very helpful.
However, do not expect what the website shows or the pictures to be fully accurate. The house is currently a work in progress not a mansion on an island featured for the Rich & Famous. It has inadequate solar power, undependable generator back up (if any – none in our case) and Wi-Fi that does not support Zoom sessions or streaming. Keep in mind, if the solar and generators fail you have no power, water or AC. (happened twice during our visit for 4 – 10 hours). Inside temperatures are recommended by owners to be kept at 78 - 80 degrees (even at night). Rec Room with fold out bed does not qualify as a 5th bedroom because it has no air conditioning and is too open to the outdoors.
Boat and pool are fantastic. Views are great. Kayaks and private beach are fun. We also visited beaches at Fort Myers, Sanibel light house, Captiva and North Captiva. Lots of fish around the island and the house including snook right under the dock. Seeing dolphins every day and also the occasional manatee was always fun.
Bugs are a known issue in that area especially “no see ums”. Not during the day, only mornings and evenings. Bring insect repellent. I also understand after the fact, that Skin So Soft is the best repellent for No See Ums.
Our family highly recommends this location as long as you understand what it is. Also keep in mind that the owners are continuously trying to repair and upgrade the property so what you find may be much improved over what we experienced.

An Island Adventure
The house and island offer a wonderful adventure and vacation. There are amazing views, privacy, sun, outdoor space, and many amenities. It is a great choice for people who love kayaking, fishing, and boating. Very rare to rent a house and a boat at the same time; makes for a truly unique experience. Plenty of space for three families; we saw manatees and dolphins right off the dock. Our host Louise, and assistant Leah were welcoming, responsive, and helpful. We had a wonderful week with many new memories.

It was kind of like glamping
Our hosts - Louise and Dave - were extremely responsive when we had some issues on our first day and a half with the electricity, generator, and internet. As with glamping, you will have stunning nature paired with modern amenities. We saw dolphins every day (one we named “Nacho” because he had a notch in his fin) and one day we saw a shark drift by the front deck. We also saw manatees and assorted fish.
It was very nice to have a boat in order to get off the island and go places. One day we boated to Captivate Island - it took about 45 minutes. Louise will strongly encourage you to download some apps to help navigate the waters and this is a good idea. Please be very aware of the tides. The water gets quite shallow at low tide.
The mater bed and cabana beds were very comfortable (the only two beds our party used during our stay). There is plenty of closet and dresser drawer space. The kitchen was well stocked.
We also enjoyed the kayaks that are available at the house. The two we used had back rests which is so important at our age!
I didn’t expect the island to be almost completely covered in vegetation - no place to really let our little puppy dogs run free. There was even less area when the tide was in. But that was my misinterpretation of the note about pets - “perfect for pets since it is an island”. Just FYI.
For us, this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to be able to stay on our own private island. We are glad we did it and we thank Louise and Dave for sharing their property with us!

Crescent Island
This is an incredibly beautiful location that made a wonderful stay. Extraordinary views and birdlife. Dolphins swam by daily. The hosts were very responsive on several occasions when issues arose--generator malfunction, holes in screens, yoga mat requests... It is a house on an island so some things are difficult to repair. The cabana was really wonderful for our guests. You may want to bring a personal hotspot for best internet service. Kitchen is well supplied and baths nicely appointed. Nice selection of kayaks and paddle boards. The boat was a nice extra, as were the fishing rods and very generous, as was the ability to park our RV at the owner's Inn. Hosts could not have been nicer. Our dog loved the experience.

Marvelous Island Family Vacation
Truly a phenomenal location. We routinely saw dolphins and manatees on nearly every boat trip. Our day trips with the included boat to Sanibel and Captiva were highlights for the young ones. Parasailing on Captiva was great, with the crew doing a great job of entertaining riders as well as participants. The house accommodated all 12 of us comfortably. There are amazing views in all directions and the sunrises and sunsets from the crows nest are breathtaking. David and Louise were incredible hosts, making us feel welcome and at home from the start. They were always only a phone call away to answer any questions that we had.

You Had Us at “Private Island!”
We had a fabulous time staying on Crescent Island. The house is beautiful and incredibly well maintained. The current owners, Louise and Dave, already have made improvements to the home that aren’t yet reflected in the already amazing photos (e.g., installing walls rather than curtains around each bedroom). The home is perfectly located on its own quiet island just a short and very easy boat ride to the mainland. While we enjoyed the amenities at the home (fantastic pool on main level that overlooks the water, 3 kayaks, a stand up paddle board and a very relaxing hammock!), we did day trips on the boat nearly every day easily visiting Fort Meyers Beach, Sanibel, Captiva, North Captiva, Cayo Costa, and Cabbage Key. Getting to Phuzzys or the Waterfront in St. James City for lunch or dinner was a breeze if we didn’t feel like venturing out farther. You can also get Dominos to deliver pizza to the Monroe Marina parking lot and meet them there in the boat if you have teenagers craving pizza! In addition, we ordered groceries from Elite Grocery Services to have our groceries delivered to the Phuzzys parking lot where we met the shopper and loaded our boat with boat packed groceries. That saved a ton of time and was so convenient! Louise and Dave were always available if we had issues or questions. They were amazing hosts and we would love to return someday!!

Island Getaway
Truly enjoyed the property. We probably should have planned groceries a bit better (we ended up having to boat back to the marina the second day to get things we had forgotten). Boating around the Intercoastal Waterway was spectacular. We saw dolphins and manatees. The pool at the house was great. The kids loved it. Nature watching (birds, fish, etc) was great from the many decks on the property. The owners are spectacular and very responsive.

Very relaxing beautiful house. Well appointed and supplied. Enjoyed lounging by the pool and reading on the sound facing decks. We used the three kayaks nearly every day out among the mangroves. Saw manatees and dolphins (one that gave us a quick “flipper” show), and indigenous birds (Ibis, herons, cranes, pelicans). The highlight activity was the use of the power boat. Although best if have some boating experience, Dave was a very patient instructor for us novices (make sure to keep a close eye on the depth finder). We enjoyed boating in the sound, a bit of fishing, and going to gulf facing Sanibel and Captiva beaches (need to anchor and wade into the beach). There are a number of marina restaurants to boat to, but we chose to get takeout from the nearby Waterfront Marina restaurant (5 minutes) - particularly loved the gator bites and crab crusted grouper. (Staff wear masks - not necessarily the case for other restaurants)Louise and Dave are very hospitable hosts, very quick to respond to any questions. Overall wonderful experience.

Relaxing On Island
Took our granddaughter for spring break vacation and had a fantastic stay. Dolphins played off the shore and lots of pelicans entertained us with their diving skills. We spent time in the pool and took boat rides to Captiva Island for swimming in the gulf.
The owners were very helpful and responsive to our questions. We had everything we could need. Look forward to next year!

If you’re looking for a place with a lot of privacy, near tons of fun things to do, with beautiful scenery - this place is perfect! My husband and I stayed here for a week, but we could have stayed forever. The property owners were so friendly and helpful. Anything we needed or had a question about, they were a phone call or text away. They responded very quickly and never made us feel like a bother. The house and island was as beautiful as the pictures. It was so cool to have our own boat for the week to do whatever we wanted. We explored a different marina each day. Tons of places to shop. And there was sooo much amazing fresh seafood!!This was the trip of a lifetime. It was amazing and definitely worth it!
