This is a great little cabin! It’s very quaint and clean. Perfect for our needs.

The Greasewood Grocery was exactly as described. Based on previous reviews, I brought a small folding table and a coffee pot. The night sky is amazing. It is a drive from Terlingua/Study Butte but the scenery makes the drive nice.

We enjoyed our Greasewood Grocery Cabin stay. We arrived just a dusk and Pam preemptively reached out to make sure we would find the place. No need, the instructions worked fine. Apparently there was some extensive updates to the structure. We found it cozy even in below freezing temperatures. It was located about 20 minutes to the park boundary, and that worked for us. Understanding it was a small space, we planned ahead and nrought in only what we needed for two nights. That fit well into the available storage space. It was good to learn about the non-potable water, so we could plan for that as well. We enjoyed the back porch swing the first night, but cold weather kept us inside the second night. We would definitely stay there again and hang out some more on the patio when it’s a bit warmer outside.

This was the most amazing little place to stay outside of town. My husband and I were looking for a quiet getaway. Were were able to jump in our car and drive into town but come back to absolute silence and the most amazing night sky I have ever seen in my life. I will have amazing memories of my husband cooking me breakfast cowboy style while the sun rises. Pam is a great host as well! AMAZING if you are into photography!

Needs better heating, hot water in sink and power to use a blow dryer… it is a nice place for a short stay.

It was too rustic for me. For January anyway. No hot water in the bathroom, Needed to get hot water out of the shower. Owners did help me out with a medical issue,. Greasewood Cabin is convenient to BBNP but is really remote.

Big Bend Road Trip
Nice place to have a base of operations for the Big Bend area. Plenty of porch to sit on and watch the world go by after a day of hiking, adventures in the area. A coffee maker would have been nice, but local restaurants covered that need.

We weren't expecting much, but yet we were still disappointed. Water is non-potable, so bring what you need. There is no hot water at the sink in the WC; only hot water is at the shower, so if you want hot water with which to shave or clean, you have to go to shower and bring it back to the sink - shower and sink are in different rooms. Also, there is a sign to not put ANY paper in toilet. This reminded us of our trips to Russia and other 3rd world locations. Cooking is only by microwave, and there is no place to sit and eat unless you go outside or carry the tablethat is outsid night sky, however, is truly amazing, and fortunately the traffic zooming by is mostly done by 10pm. We survived and made the best of it, but never again.

The location was too far from Big Bend National Park. Had to spend most of my time driving.
Very small place, maybe works for one person who just wants to sit on the porch. To get to the hiking trails there was lots of miles to drive. You just start hiking at daybreak, but it was 45 minutes to an hour of driving to get to trails. Do research and stay closer to the park. It was totally my fault, I didn’t research.

Perfect location, amazing stargazing at night. Peaceful and serene. We had our own little world for our short visit. Everything we needed was included.
Great experience with the locals who were delightful and friendly. Exactly what you’d hope for in a stay at Big Bend as a couple. I’d book again in a heartbeat! Very pleasant overall.

Incredible!!
Staff are amazing, first night the town got out off power due to a storm, and the owner called us, and guide us to the cabine.
The cabine is super clean, great location, is super comfy. You would llike to cook one night on the fire to enjoy the stars , and you would like to enjoy a eating breakfast too.

Perfect little spot
We could not have been more impressed with this cute little spot! It was so charming and we absolutely loved the proximity to the park. It’s also hard to beat sitting on the porch swing and watching that sunset!

Great cabin close to Big Bend NP and Terlingua
This rustic cabin was a great place to stay during our visit to Big Bend National Park. There's a fridge and a microwave so make sure to bring a camp stove or kettle if you want to make yourself some dinners out on the patio or coffee in the morning. The bed was comfy and the heating and AC both worked great. We were also impressed with how clean the place was when we checked in. It's in a beautiful area with pretty desert views and the posters and other decor in the cabin were really fun!

Positively perfect and charming!
A great place to rest up before heading into Big Bend NP. Hot water for shower! Comfortable bed! And a zillion stars!

Pillows on bed were cheap; would have liked wash clothes and hand towels
At night you can see all the constellations- very private. It takes a good drive to reach Big Bend and Terlinqua. If you ever thought about going to Maria take advantage

Too far away from Big Bend
Tiniest little cabin in the middle of absolutely no where! The sky and view were gorgeous! Cabin is very cramped. No stove. No small table for your stuff. We were using our cooler and boxes until I finally brought the table in from outside. All the drawers and shelves are packed with stuff so there is no where to unpack.

Quaint Experience
This little property fit the bill! Just big enough for me and my husband to stay in a few nights while we visited BBNP. Had pretty much everything we needed. Grilled twice and ate out twice while in town. (Lots of places in Terlingua do not take cards: just an FYI bring cash!) We did our best to conserve water. The shower is small and hot water tank also small. But there was plenty of water for us to use. The wrap around porch was amazing to sit on. Talk about deafening silence - the desert was so quiet there.
Pam was an excellent hostess. She stopped by to say hi one evening while we were outside. And she saved the day when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the cabin - she was so kind about that!! If you’re looking for an out of the ordinary place to stay - this is your spot!

Great for star gazing!
Great location for stargazing and back porch swinging! Owners were so kind and gave great directions and local tips!
Could use a little more comfortable bed and pillows (or bring your own pillows) and we recommend earplugs due to proximity to Hwy 118(worked for us). A great place to unwind after a hard day of hiking in Big Bend and close enough to Terlingua to enjoy some local restaurants and shopping. Had an amazing time!!

A Little Oasis in West Texas
This rustic cabin was a great place for our two-night stay near Big Bend National Park. The cabin isn't large, but it still has a refrigerator, microwave and other equipment that make it possible to cook a little and manage in a very rural location. The bed was comfortable, and two porches are good for just sitting and relaxing. It is a great place for stargazing too, although a full moon dampened those possibilities for us. It's located about 25 minutes or so from the Maverick entrance to Big Bend National Park. Be aware you will have to bring your own drinking water, and also minimize water usage here. But I'm sure that is true in lodging throughout the area.

Gem of a Cabin!
Our family enjoyed our stay at the Greasewood. We enjoyed cooking outdoors each evening while enjoying the night sky. We slept comfortably and had everything we could need. The cabin was very clean and orderly. We brought most of our food and necessities. Should you forget anything there is a store just a mile down the road with a few other options further in town. We will definitely book again should we find ourselves out west.

Great location and properties to stay at for our trip to Big Bend National Park.
We enjoyed our stay in the Study Butte/Terlingua area for our BBNP trip. We had all we needed and the property owners were very helpful with any questions we had. There was a bit of a scheduling mix up, but Pam/Valerie fixed us right up, so no big issues with our stay and we could get right to hiking! This will be our go to spot for West Texas from now on!!

Cozy cabin with a 360 view of the stars
We visited Big Bend NP and this was the perfect place. The nights were so dark that you can see every star in the sky including the Milky Way with your bare eyes. There is no kitchen but we brought our camping stove, there was a burn ban, and we cooked in the back patio and enjoyed our dinner there while watching hockey games on our iPad. It was very relaxing, peaceful and everything we needed. The hot water did run out fast but it’s not enough for me to not recommend this place.

Everything you need!
It is a really cozy cabin that stays surprisingly warm in cold temperatures. A fantastic fire ring out back for cooking and enjoying the sunset. About 20 - 25 minutes to BBNP. We brought all of our food with us but the Little Burro store down the road has almost everything you might need. Really enjoyed the stay. Pam was an excellent host.

We really enjoyed our stay in this quirky, comfy cabin about 20 minutes outside Terlingua. It was cold and windy when we arrived but Pam made sure our heater was on and that we had an extra blanket. The WiFi connection was consistent, which was nice since we were also doing some work. The bed is comfy and the shower was hot. Definitely recommend! We had trouble finding the spot because we arrived in the dark. It’s a small cabin about a mile south of the big Jackass Flats sign and Burro store, but on the opposite side of the highway. There is a string of blue lights on the porch if you’re arriving in the dark.
