This was a WONDERFUL house with exceptional views! The photos don’t do it justice. It was very clean and spacious. The rooms were all quiet. It was walking distance to grocery stores, coffee, shops, and restaurants. It was a great location. We were worried about some of the older reviews, but it’s clear Vacasa read them all and made updates/changes. We would definitely stay in this house again!

This was our 12th year taking our family on vacation to Avon. We have been renting a different house each year (not always by choice) and therefore have a pretty good idea of what a decent rental should look like. The location of Blue Waters was truly amazing with its completely unobstructed view of the sound and so much fascinating wildlife in the tall grasses surrounding it! Before getting into details of this property, I would like to acknowledge that everyone has different expectations, making some of my criticism subjective and mostly based on personal preferences. But some of the issues were plainly unacceptable. We loved that this property had en-suite bathrooms in all their bedrooms. Spending vacations with your older children usually entails bringing along their partners. The privacy this layout offered was perfect. Sadly, there were hardly any blankets in the house, other than the bedspreads. Luckily, most of us had brought their own blankets, so this wasn’t an issue for us. The house was also clean and neat on the surface. Whoever prepared the house certainly put in a lot of TLC when they placed the towels and toiletries in the bathrooms and prepared the beds. It looked very welcoming. The pool was clean (not so much the lawn chairs) and the deck size was suffice for a large family to hang out together. The living room had a very nice library, filled with science books on a plethora of topics which we all enjoyed very much. Now, for the not so pleasant things. What was clearly unacceptable was the cockroach problem. We found several in the bedrooms at our time of arrival, and positively identified them as the ‘American Cockroach’, which infests homes, and which is completely different from water roaches, which are harmless. We bought traps and caught quite a few during our stay, but were very worried that we would inadvertently bring some of them home with our luggage. When we looked for a dish brush under the kitchen sink, we found a two gallon mixing bowl wedged underneath the drain pipes, filled to the rim with fowl smelling water. Luckily, my husband is handy and was able to temporarily join the pipes with surgical tape we had in our first aid kit. This was definitely unacceptable and should have been caught by management during inspection! Being that the shore is a sandy place, even with the best precautions you will be dragging some sand into the house. But there were no brooms to be found anywhere, not even a dustpan! This made it impossible to keep the place tidy, and you always felt sand under your feet which was quite frustrating. The open kitchen was super small with only one narrow cabinet for food storage. The combined counter space was barely 9’ long which allowed only 1 to 2 people in the kitchen at a time. While the two dishwashers came in very handy and worked well, the oven hardly worked at all. It took us an hour to heat up a frozen pizza. The refrigerator was nice and had a good capacity, and there were

What we liked: best view for the sunset; comfy furniture, evert bedroom has its own bathroom, home cinema was fun for watching movies with the family; the kitchen is small, but it has 2 dishwashers, and the pots and pans were good quality. What we disliked: the fridge in the kitchen had 4 broken shelves on the door, and 2 broken shelves in the fridge. We had only 2 shelves for stocking groceries. We used the fridge in the cinema and small fridge in the game room to store the rest of our groceries. The oven has uneven heating. Also the top deck has a structure problem, the nails need to be refastened bc there’s nothing left of the nails.

I don't like to give bad reviews, but this house was in horrible condition. I filed a complaint with Hatteras realtors . There were several safety concerns with Blue Walter's from all the inside banisters extremely lose if anyone leaned on them they would get hurt. The outside top deck railing was very unsafe it would not meet any safety codes. Very dirty not clean. Ruined vacation. Alot of money for a house that is in extreme bad condition. Then Hatteras/ Vacasa wanted to do all the repairs when we were staying in Blue Walter's on our vacation time. Head boards on the beds were broken and also the toilet seats. We were extremely disappointed. To much time and money spent of ours on something that we had looked forward to. Vacasa does not care about their guests it's all about making their money.

This was our second stay at Blue Waters and one of 15 different OBX homes we’ve rented over the past two decades. Location is superb and the layout fits our family perfectly. We love having the pool, sound-access boardwalks, and beach all at our disposal. Sadly, in the 7 years since we were last at Blue Waters, the house’s condition has declined significantly. We found many things broken or missing, and the cleaning job done before we arrived was abysmal. There was a broken chair in the living room and the fridge and both dishwashers needed repair. Trash was found in drawers and under beds. Furniture was clearly never moved to vacuum. Dishes in the cabinets were dirty and shower curtains were moldy. We saw several roaches inside. Vacasa did respond quickly to our calls for maintenance, but they need to do a better job of monitoring the condition of the homes they rent, especially given how much the prices have climbed.

Nice quite neighborhood and semi private with open lots on 3 sides. Some non-stick frying pans and higher quality cooking utensil’s would be an easy upgrade. Clean pool and plenty of TV’s too, but no ESPN on Roku :-(
