The house was perfect for our family of 12. Can’t wait for next year.

Great family getaway. There were 12 in our group, (ages 4-64) the kids loved the pool, board walkway to beach is a nice benefit, & the location is amazing! Prompt responses from property management from beginning to end. We had a great time!

We had our biannual family getaway with our kids and grandkids. A very peaceful location. Having the pool was a great addition to the stay giving us options on how to spend each day. Caswell is a great location.

The house was great! It had everything we needed for the two night of pretty intense cooking. The kids enjoyed the loft and we enjoyed the view and the easy walk to the beach!

Enjoyed our stay. Location was very convenient and property was very clean. Would like to have had some kitchen washcloths and towels. Overall, very good.

Our family had a wonderful week long vacation at Coconut Hut. The owner was incredibly responsive and the property was lovely. The heated pool was a great option since the ocean water was so cold. Sitting on the back covered porch listening to the ocean waves and they walking directly onto the beach was simply relaxing. High recommended property.

My friends and I had a wonderful time at this updated, comfortable house on the ocean. There was plenty of room for everyone, especially in the main area, which was perfect for a large crowd. We loved all of the chairs on the deck, and the heated pool was definitely a bonus! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The House is nice. Nothing fancy but very suitable for a beach house. We had a few minor maintenance issues that were fixed very quickly. The maintenance guy went above and beyond. The host was also very quick to respond to any questions. Overall the whole experience was great.

Great beach, great view of fireworks in Southport.
The wash machine needs work. Sounds like a bearing or its grossly out of balance.

The Coconut Hut is a quiet & beautiful location! We loved the private mini boardwalk to the beach & the heated pool! The property management team was great! Professional & quick responses. The only problem we had were biting deer flies around the pool. We were there in April, so not sure if they are worse at that time. Besides that, it as a wonderful vacation!

The location of this property is incredible. It’s private and quiet, and there’s a private walkway all the way directly to the beach. The kitchen is very well stocked and overall the house was clean. The bathrooms were very clean and spacious as well. Communication with the hosts was super easy and they’re very responsive, but there were some issues with the house.
We paid extra for linens and towels and when we arrived, they were simply wrapped in plastic so we had to make our own beds. I think it’s a little crazy to list a rental house without linens or towels, but it’s even crazier to expect visitors to make (and unmake before checkout) our beds when we’ve paid extra already.
The other issue was the pool. It was so dirty when we arrived, we never used it the whole week. It should definitely be covered when it’s not in use. We spent one day out on the pool deck and when we were there we found used feminine pads, critter poop inside the pool, and other trash around the pool area.
There were other small issues as well, and we killed 3 cockroaches inside the house during our stay (though this isn’t that crazy since the house is basically on the beach, and they had Raid stocked).
Overall we were just bummed by this because the property is SO beautiful and well stocked (TVs, cooking utensils and tools, extra pillows and bedding, games, lounge gear, etc) that it was disappointing to run into issues. Overall, though, for the price it’s quite lovely and was a beautiful week-long getaway.

Had a great time. Everything was perfect!

The location of the beach house was absolutely wonderful. Our children loved the pool. Only issue was with housekeeping. Comforters had large spots on them and we encountered a few roaches and flies indoors. Great to have fenced walkway to the beach for our 2 and 3 year olds. Good safety features.

My wife and I visited oak island last year and loved it so much we wanted to share our experience with friends and family. This house was everything we needed. Plenty of room, amazing kitchen, a pool and a short private walk to the beach where we enjoyed some pretty good fishing. We definitely plan to come back next year.

Everything was nice except for the cleanliness of the house. There was stuff under the beds and couches. And when we took off the sheets when leaving in the lower bedroom with double beds we seen where the mattress cover was not cleaned there was blood stain which we found we had been sleeping on that was gross!

Family beach trip
We enjoyed our stay. It’s in a good location that is close to town but the beach is not crowded. House has a boardwalk that goes all the way down to the beach which was very convenient. Kids enjoyed the pool. Property managers were friendly and easy to work with. Would come back!

Family vacation
House is beautiful and very spacious, the new decking was also gorgeous. The property lacked basic amenities such as hand soap, toilet paper, dish cloths and dish towels etc., the tub was clogged and was not draining so we removed the large clump of hair ourselves, the pool was also very dirty. The beach chairs were rusted and unsafe in my opinion-so we did not use them. I contacted the property manager with my concerns and he was quick to respond and professional enough. The area is also quite windy, we will not be returning :(

Wonderful get away!
This was an amazing option for our beach vacation. Other than being directly on the beach, with a heated pool, a big part of our choice was the bedroom setup. Most houses we looked at had at least one room with bunkbeds, we are all 30+ and coupled, no one wanted to sleep in bunkbed so this house was great!! Everything was as described, comfortable, and clean. I was hesitant because of several comments before talking about the cleaning, but it must have been changed because I had no issue. Going out on the second deck area at night and see the stars and nearby lighthouse was stunning. And sunset right off the back porch!
Things to mention:
-Never could find the Roku remote for the living room (we downloaded the app on our phone)
-Having more than one/two kitchen towels would be nice.
-Bring your own kitchen dish sponge.
-We brought a large fry pan based on prior comments, and that was a good idea.
We will save this rental for future use! Would recommend.

Excellent location
Great property and location overall. There are a few issues that could be addressed For a house in this price range - the furniture and the outside decking are showing considerable wear - I know rental properties get a lot of use - but I hope these are on a replacement schedule. The refrigerator is way to small for a house that sleeps that many people - we maintained several coolers to help and it was still inadequate. Finally - for anyone actually trying to cook for the number of people that house holds - the lack of a frying pan over 6" in diameter is ridiculous. These are not huge issues but they are significant - overall we had a great stay and thoroughly enjoyed our visit

Amazing location!
Great house for a large family on a peaceful and absolutely breathtaking area of Oak Island/Caswell Beach. We loved it here so much. Lots of rooms and bathrooms and plenty of space for all 14 of us. It was so nice to be on the beach with the ocean breeze and a pool for the kids. Kitchen was stocked! Bring a blender as both here were broken. The only complaints we had were on cleanliness/upkeep. For the price a shower curtain without mold would be good. Easy and cheap to replace. Just a few little things. Also, the tv’s didn’t work and no remote controls for TVs in bedroom. We brought our Apple TV so it was all good. Overall amazing place! We will be back to Caswell beach for sure!

Great location, house could use some maintenance
Great location, right on the beach with a beautiful view. This is our second year renting the location. Our family with young kids enjoyed the easy access and on-site pool. Great layout for families. However, some issues came up on our trip that made it only 4 stars especially given the price:
1. Bare kitchen - we ended up going out to buy silverware and knives since there weren't enough for our group of 10 which is smaller than this house sleeps.
2. Like others have said, the pool deck needs to be replaced. Really rough condition that was a bit of a hazard with small kids and without shoes.
3. We had issues with a raccoon (we think?) pooping in the pool twice in one week which meant we had to close it for cleaning/shocking the pool. Management was quick to address but given it happened again on our last full day we didn't get a chance to address it. This meant pool was closed for 2-3 over our trip (7 days). Hopefully they figure out how to avoid it for future stays.

Loved the Secluded Beach!
We loved the location of the house as we prefer more secluded beaches when traveling with our young grandchildren. This house definitely delivered and the pool was enjoyed by all! We were pleased with most everything, but there were a few items that were lacking: the deck boards are quite worn so sandals should be worn to avoid splinters; the couch and love seat were quite uncomfortable, the kitchen was lovely but didn't have any large pans for cooking when eating in, and there was a "flapping" noise on one side of the house - like a piece of loose siding that would flap in the wind that needs to be addressed. Overall, it was a lovely house and we would recommend it to anyone that doesn't want a crowded beach! Thank you Coconut Hut for a relaxing week!

Great Location, Charming House, A Few Needs
We really enjoyed our time at this home. We had 4 children and 6 adults, and the rooms were well set up for our group. The location was great. Being only 2 rows of homes and no parking for beach access, the beach was almost private. We were able to see the fireworks at the pier from the deck. The main issues we had were in the kitchen. We made notes of what to bring next year because we definitely want to stay here again. New/more flatware, sharper knives, plastic cups (most were glass), more dish towels. We called the property management a couple of times and received immediate response. Kenny was very helpful and responsive. He brought over missing items and fixed a safety issue right away. We're looking forward to more summer vacations in this home.

Great Home with a few issues
The home was great, with great access to the ocean and a great pool. Overall it was clean and tidy, except for the moldy water we found underneath the sink. All of the decking is in serious need of repair, as several of us had to remove splinters multiple times, despite trying to keep our shoes on as much as possible (which is hard when you are swimming). The management company is responsive and good to work with. The kitchen has plenty of dishes but is lacking in pots, pans, silverware, etc if you plan on cooking much. There weren’t enough chairs on the porch and around the pool for a larger sized group.

Multi-family beach trip
First stay on Oak Island and we loved it! Quiet, secluded beach, but not far from restaurants and grocery. Easy commute up to Wilmington for a kid's sport tournament. The house was well situated to enjoy the beach as well as the marshy intracoastal side of the island and we loved the proximity to the lighthouse as well. The house was clean and comfortable. I docked one star for cleanliness because the decking needs a little TLC. Some wood needs replacing and there were some nails that have worked their way up. Made it a little hard on the kids' feet around the swimming pool. It is evident that the property is cared for and some repairs have already been made to the deck/boardwalk.

Great location
Great house, great location. There are some maintenance issues that need to be addressed.

Amazing stay at the Coconut Hut!
The views from this house are absolutely breath taking! My family of 4 had plenty of space and throughly enjoyed the easy, direct access to the beach. The heated pool was also a plus! The deck around it is a bit rugged so we did wear flip flops to avoid stepping on any nails and/or splinters. The kitchen is beautifully updated. Having a washer and dryer with kids was also a great plus for this property. The couches (both upstairs and in the living room) are quite worn down. But we didn’t sit down much (except for meals), so we weren’t bothered by their condition. Overall, this house’s location is unbeatable! We are already looking at booking it again for our next beach trip!
