About this house rental
This fully remodeled basement apartment offers fun, shabby chic accommodations in the heart of downtown La Grande. Located within blocks of bakeries, coffee shops, & restaurants. Eastern Oregon University is a short walk away.
The space has 2 bedrooms, sofa bed, roll-away cot, full bath, kitchen/laundry & cozy sitting area. The windows offer lots of natural light.
Perfect for folks traveling through NE Oregon, staying for business, long-term stays, or launching an outdoor adventure.
The bungalow was built in 1925 and miraculously the few previous owners retained all the original woodwork and features that give it character. The basement was remodeled into a living space in the early 2000s. I purchased the home in Fall 2016 and in doing so have welcomed the opportunity to continue to maintain and enhance this treasure of a historic house.
The main bedroom has a double bed, the second bedroom has two twin beds, and there is a roll-away cot that is actually quite comfortable and can be set up in either the twin bedroom or the common area/living room. The living room has a queen-sized sofa bed.
I’ve added a fully-functional kitchen to the laundry area, utilizing the original cupboards and other lumber found on the property.
The recently updated patio area is a great place to hang out during warmer temperatures! Lots of garden veggies, berries, and fruit trees make it a healthy “snack bar”, too!

My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay here! Great location for us, only a few blocks away from downtown area and family that we were visiting for the weekend. I particularly enjoyed relaxing in Jackie's beautiful garden with coffee and a book in the morning before I took off for long walks in the neighborhoods.
The downstairs unit has a full kitchen and washer/dryer (should you need it). Really loved the layout with the jack and jill bathroom which allowed for different sleep habits. This enabled me to go to bed and wake earlier and wake earlier, leaving my teen to stay up later and sleep in more.
Unit is thoughtfully appointed with a binder of activity suggestions for the area and restaurant menus, as well as games and books. Beds were very comfortable and space was nicely decorated and clean.
Would definitely book again! Thanks Jackie.

We were very impressed with everything. Jackie is a great host. Always interested in hearing about your experiences. The neighborhood is very quiet, don’t be surprised to see a few deer roaming the neighborhood. Thank you Jackie for everything. We had a wonderful time.

Wonderful place! What can I say, it was the perfect place to stay. Jackie made this a home away from home. So beautiful. Big space with two bedrooms, large living room, nice clean kitchen, full size washer and dryer. So many lovely touches and thoughtfulness for my visit. She was available if I had a question. She was very accommodating. Thoughtful, and helpful. A very lovely person. Everything in the town is a short walk. Stores, restaurants, post office, etc. La Grande is like going to a retreat. Everyone is so kind, caring, considerate. Very clean town. In the other direction my family that I came to visit was also a short walk away. I hope to visit her place again. Kelly Lew

We have stayed here before for a family graduation. This time was another family event and not only is it a wonderful little treasure but it's near everything. This time was a wedding and just a few minutes from the Church..❤ We are already looking at grandkids football schedules to make reservations!

Sweet little basement, great communication with owner!
Small basement apartment with everything we needed for the weekend. Able to cook, wash clothes and rest which is all we needed. Appreciate Jackie's excellent communication and responsiveness. Kids liked having a separate room with closet and bathroom access.

Cozy Basement Bungalow
Cute and cozy basement. It had everything we needed for during our stay. It is close to restaurants and the downtown boutique shops. Host was very clear about access to the basement apt, noise from upstairs. So no surprises. We enjoyed our time and would stay again next time we are in town.

Short stay in Lagrande
My son and I were in town for two nights for him to visit Eastern Oregon University. The property was close to campus and had easy access to restaurants, shops, and everything else we needed while in Lagrande. The entry was key coded and I received that code within 48 hours of reservation so it was very convenient. The property was clean and had everything we needed, we enjoyed our stay and had no issues whatsoever. We would definitely stay again if we were in Lagrande.

Thinks of Everything
Great little basement apt. Home owner has put thought into every detail that a traveler may want. Very clean. Very charming neighborhood. Only thing that was missing was a TV for the kiddos. But easily fixed with a laptop.

Nice place to stay close to town. Quiet and cool during the summer heat.

This is a gem! Jackie is too! She is thoughtful with furnishings and amenities. We’ll be back!
All went smoothly! Her sweet backyard was perfect for evening moonlight visiting! There are steep stairs entering into the basement apartment but we didn’t mind. We stayed cool during a particularly hot summer streak. We enjoyed being able to walk to restaurants downtown. We also enjoyed walking throughout the neighborhood and viewing beautiful homes, trees, and flowers. We will definitely be back!

Well-Priced Cute Basement Apartment
Overall we really enjoyed this stay. The kitchen and laundry were really convenient and it was excellent service for the price. Our only complaint was that either there wasn’t AC or we couldn’t find it so it got rather warm a couple of the nights.

Great place & owner
This was the perfect place for my family & me to stay in La Grande. It is close to the heart of things and a clean, well-decorated & charming basement apartment. The owner was very friendly. I highly recommend it overall. The stairs down to the apartment as soon as you enter are a bit steep and may be a challenge for those with mobility issues, but were fine for us. Also, a toaster in the kitchen would have been welcome (it may have already been there, but I couldn’t find it).
