About this cottage rental
Covid19 Precautions: We are currently following the rules according to Ontario's re-opening regulations. We have extra staff to ensure complete disinfectant wipe down between every rental. This includes all door handles, taps, toilets, TV remotes, light switches, fan switches and all counter tops, tables, window openers, BBQ and hot tub. The hot tub is super chlorinated using Bromine.
Property Description:
Located on the pristine waters of Sharbot Lake (285 km East of Toronto, 75 km North of Kingston, 30 minutes to Perth, 1.5 hours to Ottawa) on it's own private island, 400 meters offshore from free parking, 3 minutes from a very good grocery store, drug store, bank , post office and medical center; 6 minutes from beer and liquor stores, fast food and gas stations.
This 2500 sq. ft., 4 bedroom year round home has central air and geothermal heat and has stunning views (especially sunsets by the fire pit) and great amenities. The upstairs bedroom suite is 720 sq. ft. with its own 4 piece bathroom (however be aware that the toilet in the master bedroom is currently a composting toilet) and upstairs walkout covered balcony. Featuring a hot tub set into the largest of the three decks. BBQ (new as of Sept 2021). Pool table room with large widows and an airtight full glass door wood burning stove (but fire wood is not provided) overlooking the lake, next to the granite and tile kitchen, large stove /oven and oversized fridge /freezer, large capacity washer and dryer, with hardwood floors throughout the house, walls and ceilings finished in knotty pine. Two and a half bathrooms with two of them boasting Jacuzzi tubs. There are 3 flat screen TV’s with bell satellite with sports and movie packages and internet with unlimited free wi-fi. There are Amazon fire tv sticks on the two main TVs for easy access to Netflix, Prime Video, Crave, YouTube, etc.. (just please remember to sign out when you leave so subsequent renters can't rent Prime movies at your expense). It's a 5 minute canoe paddle to the government dock/parking lot and then 3 minute walk to the grocery store. Great fishing and swimming and sunning off the 16’ by 32’ floating dock.
The water supply is lake water that is run through an ultraviolet light filtration/sterilization system. There is then a 5 step reverse osmosis (RO) filtration system at the kitchen sink for tea/coffee/cooking. We are comfortable using the RO water for all kitchen use. However, we do recommend that you bring your own bottled water for drinking.
The rental includes a utility motor boat for transport to/from Island (proof of Boating License required), otherwise shuttle to and from the island is provided at the start and end of your stay (via the property manager). The motor boat will be either a 14 foot utility outboard motorboat with 40 hp Mercury motor (2013) or a 14.5 foot utility outboard motorboat with a 25 hp Mercury motor (2022) at the discretion of the property manager/owners. The rental includes the motorboat only for shuttling back and forth between the island and government docks. You have the option of also renting use of the motorboat for recreational use during your stay for $100/day or $500/week (which includes one tank of gasoline with minimum 3 day rental).
New June 2022 : 3 kayaks for recreational use - at own risk (2 single and 1 tandem).
New for 2024: Canoe and peddle boat for recreational use - at own risk.
Note on Security Camera: There are no spy cameras in place. WE DO NOT SPY ON OUR GUESTS. There is one security camera which is directed at the hot tub. This is solely for the purpose of dissuading use of the hot tub by other cottagers when our cottage is not in use. We encourage guests to disable this camera by unplugging it on the upstairs veranda deck during the duration of their stay.
Winter Rentals: winter rentals are available usually by mid January (once there is confirmed to be at least 12 inches of ice on the lake) and February. It's a 3 min walk across ice to the island, luggage will be transported across via snowmobile/sled (complements of the property manager). Hot tub working year-round. Excellent ice fishing. Geothermal heating. Top-up heat optional via a wood stove - bring your own firewood (or usually available for purchase from the property manager)
The property is not available in December and March due to ice/safety.

Location gave a chance to appreciate lake living while being close to amenities on land.We rented a boat for the week and did some cruising and attempted fishing. We had a couple glitches but the host Joe was 100% the person you want to be looking after your stay.Always near by if you needed help.Property is exactly what you would want for 8 of us to have our space.A nice dock to swim off and lots of options for water activities. The main question is,would I go back? Of course.Would love to actually do better fishing next time though...lol.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kayaks, canoe, paddleboat and pool table kept us entertained all week. Lots of places to sit, relax and have a good read. We especially enjoyed the upstairs deck with its beautiful views. The water was very clear and the lake was quite quiet with very little boat traffic. Would have given five stars, but there were several ceiling lights that did not work, making it difficult to see during our games nights. It also would have been nice to have some sort of instructions for the hot tub and showers.

Great cottage on a beautiful lake. Exceeded expectations. We had a fantastic family vacation!

This vacation home exceeded our expectations. The transport to and from the island was easy and friendly. The swimming was perfect - both the kids and adults spent hours jumping off the dock into the clear water and swimming around the island (tip: bring water shoes, the bottom of the lake is quite rocky in places.) We also enjoyed the kayaks. The house was clean and comfortable and struck the perfect balance between luxury (the showers!) and comfort. We appreciated that the kitchen was very well equipped. The fire pit was perfect for evening s'mores making. Checkout was easy and didn't involve a long chore list. We would happily stay again.

My wife can be difficult to please with her high elevated expectations regarding cleanliness and accommodations. However, this property easily met her expectations. From the check in process to starting our vacation, it was very smooth and seamless. The property was clean large and the cottage itself, way above our expectations on cleanliness space and functionality, we will definitely look at staying here again in the future

Really, we had a great time. The location is amazing even if you don’t like to fish. The home had charm and personality. It creaked in all the right places. I think some updates are coming to the upstairs bathroom which will be nice. The whirlpool was nasty but the previous clients didn’t know how to care for it. When we notified the owner it was swiftly taken care of. Will would recommend highly.

Great cottage on a easy to access island in beautiful Sharbot Lake. We were given an outboard boat to get back and forth from the mainland. The island provides some seclusion but there is a nearby neighbouring island - which is great for paddleboarding./kayaking. The house is filled with more than anyone could ask for. Complete kitchen and bathrooms. The Master bedroom is huge with its own TV, deck and funky shower. It has a camping toilet.
There is a pool table for late night fun. The hot tub is great but it was too hot weather wise to use while there. Also the mosquitoes are brutal so we didn’t have a fire but it’s all part of cottaging life.
Only drawbacks are the usual things like not enough sharp knives, no tongs or spatula and nonstick fry pan (brought our own).
Also there is a definite lack of lighting overall making it quite dark at nights.
Warning that Sharbot Lake has many shallow area so even navigating the lake in my seadoo was challenging at times.
These are small things compared to how much we enjoyed the island, the cottage and the lake. Looking forward to next year.

Private Island Cottage
Nice house on small private island with lots of amenities to enjoy the lake and accommodation. Joe was superb at getting us settled in, giving us tips and ensuring that we were properly looked after. Good dock for our bowrider and Joe let us use his boat for fishing. Kayaks were a great hit with the kids. Overall, great family vacation in a nice cottage on a beautiful lake.

Great island retreat
Very nice island home just minutes from the government dock and parking. Very clean and modern interior with all the amenities needed for your stay. Great views of lake on south side and nice dock for swimming, boating and hanging about on the north side. We appreciated the kayaks so we did not need to bring our own. Town of Sharbot lake is a quick walk from the government dock/parking area - be sure to visit the Cardinal coffee shop. As indicated, there is some poison ivy but is easily avoided - though if you have a dog that likes to nose about you might want to bring a chain or rope to limit where it can get to. Highly recommended.

Island gem on Sharbot lake
"Beautiful location only a quick boat ride from shore with all the modern amenities and creature comforts. Dockside swimming transitions easily to hot tub hangouts and fireside chats with varied scenery and manicured landscaping. The natural wood treatments in the air conditioned interior make for a cozy and restful experience. Boat access via the property manager was quick and seamless. Would highly recommend."

An Adventure Awaits
Upon arrival, we were thrilled at the layout, amenities and setting of the cottage. After a freak storm knocked out the power we were still able to enjoy much of location - fishing, shooting pool, and lots of card playing, and were even checked in on by Joe to make sure we were ok. He was extremely accommodating and easy to communicate with, and look very forward to another trip to the island.

Great Family Setting
This location offered a perfect setting for a family vacation. the well equipped cottage, large porches, comfortable furniture and 3 bathrooms made vacation time with a whole family work easily The swimming in mid-may was perfect, our bonfires were cozy, the hot tub functioned perfectly and canoe rides on this beautiful provided relaxation. We also rented the boat for the week and managed to trek around a bit including a trip to Sharbot Lake Provincial Park. Great vacation all round.

Wonderful property
The place was just what we were looking for. There were a couple of hiccups but nothing that would stop us from returning. The hot water tank was not turned on when we arrived so we had no hot water the first day. The hot tub was also not ready the first day of our trip. The property manager told us he had just put chemicals in and it would be cleared up by the next day. This would not have been a big deal if we were staying a week but as we were only staying 3 nights it really stunk not having use of the hot tub for 1/3 of our trip. We specifically asked if the hot tub was in working order and we we were told it was ready to go.

Awesome, Beautiful Property on the Lake!
We loved our time at Sharbot Lake. The sunsets, sunrises, warm lake water and fully furnished huge house was amazing. It is located a quick canoe ride from the dock where you leave your vehicle for free. Huge grocery store is very close with a beach, walking trails as well. We enjoyed the large space with 6 adults with lots of decks, places to sit, outside chairs, washer, dryer, hot tub, etc. This rental had everything you could ever want with lots of kitchen utensils for cooking, etc. I would have rated it a 5+ if it hadn't been for the poor cleaning and the furniture needs an update. I would definitely go back as we loved the warm lake, great communication with Josiah and the huge house with 3 bathrooms, 3 tv's, pool table and so much more. I appreciate honest reviews so this is mine. This could easily be made into a 5+ with a new cleaner and new chairs and couches. Thank you Josiah for the wonderful vacation!
