About this house rental
Spacious 1800 sg. ft. and Newly restored 1870s townhome in the heart of historic Mainstrasse Village, walking distance to area restaurants and downtown Cincinnati. Enjoy all the charm of the Village, the Goose Girl fountain a block away, and Goebel Park a few steps away. Plus all that downtown Cincinnati have to offer! Just off the interstate, and very close to the Wade Bailey Bridge (US 25), which offers a super easy route into downtown Cincy. This is a building built in the 1870s with lots of charm, but also lots of stairs, some of them a bit steep; it may not be a good fit for anyone with mobility issues. There is a restaurant on the first floor of the building with great food.
This 1800 sq. ft. townhome gives you stylish comfort and convenience for a Cincinnati area trip. It's close to downtown, ball parks, museums, theaters, airport, and more. It's well located on the Southbank shuttle route. Uber rides are available too.
There are three bedrooms and three baths. On the main level, there is the living dinning room, kitchen, bedroom with a queen sized bed, a full bath with shower, and a balcony. There are two bedrooms with queen sized beds, and two bathrooms as well as washer/dryer up stairs. . The unit itself is up a flight of stairs from ground level, and two bedrooms are up another flight of (relatively steep, old school) stairs along with two baths. Lots of vacation rentals try to cram 6 people into a tiny unit, that isn't the case here at all. With 1800 sq. feet, there plenty of room and plenty of privacy.

Great location in Mainstrasse and within walking distance ti downtown Cincinnati. Very comfortable apartment, very much enjoyed stay and will come back.

This place was fantastic! Great location and there are plenty of restaurants and stores to walk to. There is a park for kids just across the street. It is on top of a Mexican restaurant and has an ice cream shop just next door. You park in the back or on the street in front and the door is to the side if the Mexican restaurant and is completely safe. There are stairs to get to the apartment and stairs inside to upstairs bedrooms that are a little steep so if you can’t do stairs for a long period of time you could sleep in the downstairs bedroom. It’s old and beautiful, remember to keep all doors closed at all times and you will have no issues with rooms staying cool.
We absolutely loved it and if ever in the area again will definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay in Covington. The apartment was very comfortable and clean. As others noted, there are stairs in the entry and to the upper bedrooms, but nothing we didn’t expect. It’s an old, but very cool and charming, older building. The Mainstrasse Village is very walkable with lots of restaurants nearby. We walked to and from a Reds game. It’s not far and it’s really cool walking across the Roebling Suspension Bridge (replica of the Brooklyn Bridge). You get a really nice view of the stadium, especially at night. We spent a day at the zoo as well. One of the prettiest, shady zoos I’ve ever been to. Highly recommend this great place if you’re visiting in the Cincinnati area.

We had a little trouble finding the entrance to the building; there was no number on the door. We encountered stairs leading to the entry door and stairs leading to the apartment. The apartment had a musty, mildew smell. The living room light did not work. To find the second bedroom, we had to go up more stairs; the third bedroom was more stairs. The house looked clean. It was convenient to shops and restaurants. It was just not what we expected.

The location was in a perfect spot and it was easy to get in and out of the neighborhood to go to all the places that we wanted to visit. The beds, pillows, and couches were very comfortable.
We only had one significant complaint - it was unbearably hot upstairs. We couldn't get the thermostat downstairs under 80 degrees, and upstairs felt even hotter. I see comments from other reviews that we should understand "historic home" to mean that the temperature cannot really be controlled, which is something I would not have assumed. We found a Walmart open late and bought a fan and left it there for the next visitors and it made upstairs a little more bearable, but still very uncomfortable. Late May felt brutally hot so I can't imagine what it is like in August heat or February cold.
We are all youngish and can climb stairs easily, but don't stay here if steep, short stairs are a problem for you. Also, the shower door on the downstairs shower is exceptionally narrow and it wouldn't be usable for a larger person. None of us could figure out how to use the shower in the second bathroom, so we all just used the third one because it was the roomiest.
The Keurig was replaced with a standard drip coffee pot so we had to go buy coffee grounds since we couldn't use the k cups we brought, so if you're a coffee drinker bring ground coffee instead.
I'm not really complaining, just sharing information I wish I had known ahead of time so you can make sure this place will work for you.

This place met all of our needs when we met our son in Covington. It was comfortable, clean and in a convenient location.

Old home that has updates so if you're looking for the Waldorf you should knkw better. But this is charming, clean, as described and the location is fantastic! Convenient to everything, so many things within walking distance right in the neighborhood, including walking down to the riverfront activities. Gettting in and out of Cincinnati is breeze. The only cautionary issue, which we were not affected by at all, might be the older staircases. A little steeper than modern day practices so some with mobility issues may not appreciate the effort needed. But again, its an old building and if you read some of the reviews you should be well informed so thats on you. We had six adults and had planty of room. The balcony/deck was perfect for gathering and chilling. A fantastic stay and experience. Would highly recommend.

loved this place to stay! it was very quiet and only about a. mile from the race start. the owner was very accommodating! walking to distance to restaurants and everything you need!

Had a nice time, nice location and property with character.

Nice place, plenty of room!!! Very easy to access. Location could not have been better. Wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Literally within the block. Had some really great food at decent prices. Everyone having their own bathroom was perfect. Beds were so comfortable- we all slept well. I would stay again.

Property is hard to find. It is above the Mexican restaurant on Sixth Street. If stairs are not your thing you may want to stay elsewhere. The table in the living room is really cool but a little wobbly. Location is great. I'd stay here again.
4.8
Access to restaurants, park and highway makes rental property a desirable location. Stairs are somewhat challenging if you are not in decent shape.

The inside of the unit was very nice. It’s an old duplex above a Mexican restaurant. The woodwork, wood flooring, and fireplaces were charming.
There are a lot of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The area had a nice old-time theme to it.
A little more information on the actual bedroom/bed count would have been helpful. There were 2 bedrooms and the “3rd bedroom” was the living room with a futon. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were not. Having an extra set of sheets, pillows, and a comforter would have made the stay more comfortable.

We stayed here for a short vacation to meet with family. The location was perfect with many places to eat nearby and free parking.
It was easy to find thanks to very detailed directions from the host. Inside was lots of space to spread out and three bathrooms which was nice.
Be aware that the third "bedroom" is actually in what is labeled as "living area" in the photos. There is a pull-out couch in that room (which due to the angle of the photos isn't visible). My teenage son slept there and was fine but it wasn't what we expected.
I recommend more curtains on the windows in the larger upstairs bedroom and in the "bedroom" with the pull out couch. It got very bright in the mornings.
There was an issue with the cleaners upon checkin due to what the host described as an issue with VRBO's system showing the schedule incorrectly. We called and it was resolved as quickly as it could be, but we did have to wait 45 minutes to use the property while it was being cleaned. I requested a refund of the cleaning fee and the owner got upset with me over text calling me things I can't type here. I understood it was not his fault but a more customer-service oriented host would have been more flexible about this. I was told the host would pursue getting VRBO to refund the cleaning fee (since the issue was apparently due to VRBO's systems) but I never heard back from the host about whether they contacted VRBO or about the status of any refund.

Great place!

Very clean and big. Only problem was shower in en-suite didn’t work and there wasn’t sufficient bath soap.

Stayed with five people. Two queen beds were shared. The futon in the third bedroom/living room was comfortable. Read all the directions and information that the hosts put together. There are lots of useful suggestions and tips. Kitchen was fine and we were working remotely part of the time and that was fine, too. Internet struggled a bit but we were pushing it pretty hard. Nice to have three bathrooms. Found some fun places to eat in the nearby area. Would stay here again.

Weekend get away for UC Family Weekend. Advertisement was accurate with the steps, older home (built in late 1800’s), so lots of narrow steps to get around but we were fine with them. Cute home, clean, pretty quiet even though you are above a restaurant. We heard my street traffic more than anything but not bad at all. Directions were excellent to get there and park. Great, safe neighborhood. Beds are comfortable, the only thing I would recommend is maybe a few more pillows for each bed.

Nice place for a quick trip. Fun location and close to many restaurants and nightlife places. Very close to downtown Cincinnati as well.
4.8
no matter where I wanted to go it seemed close. This is a great location. I liked looking out the window and seeing all the old roofs. The area around was fun and full of restaurants.
4.8
Wonderful property! We loved everything about our stay. Plenty of space, big rooms, great location and everything you need. It might be useful for some people to know that it is above a restaurant and you can hear the music but it is more like a background noise. We loved our stay and would stay again!

We stayed here while we visited the area to see the Ark and Creation museum, and the Cincinnati Zoo. We loved the central location in a charming historic downtown neighborhood. The house had everything we needed, we all agreed it was so much better than staying in a hotel because it felt like home. Thanks so much!

Accurate listing. Loved the location! Nice, friendly neighborhood. Tons of eating and adult beverages within walking distance. Easy access to the Red’s baseball stadium.
4.8
We really enjoyed the location. The two negatives were a lot of stairs and noisy floors.
4.8
The stay started with an unfortunate hiccup, but quickly resolved by property manager. That said, when all was said and done we truly enjoyed our stay. The area was amazing in conjunction with our reason for the trip, to go watch our home team play the Cincinnati Reds. We were actually able to walk to the stadium which was an awesome walk. When not at the games we enjoyed going to many of the bars and restaurants in the Mainstrasse village. The townhouse was very nice and we all agreed that we would definitely stay there again if ever visiting in the future.

This place was just as advertised. It has everything that you need.

The property is located in a nice historic area. It was peaceful and close to food and plenty to do in the city. We had a great time. Just know you do need to climb 2 sets of stairs in the house to get in to the house and to the bedrooms. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
4.8
The Townhouse was quaint and cozy. The description of the home is dead on. Location, Location, Location, was by the best feature of the Townhome. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location! We didn’t have to drive at all. Walked to the Great American Ballpark and restaurants. Place just as described.

This Townhome is a section of a very old, spacious, 3 story brick building. That said, You will be staying on the 2nd and 3rd floors, there are lots of steep stairs. Our ages are 67, 62, and 38 and had no problem. The stairs help burn calories acquired eating at awesome establishments within 1-3 blocks. The beautiful original wood floors creak a little, it didn't bother us at all.. It has Spacious rooms and the home was renovated without taking away from this beautiful vintage home. It is the Largest rental I have ever stayed in. High ceilings, huge kitchen, dining room that will seat 8 without effort, the living room is furnished with couches, chairs and a futon that makes into a bed. The door between dining room and living room closes for privacy, it can easily be used as a 3rd bedroom. There are 3 full bathrooms, Laundry, a furnished balcony looking over 6the street. It was comfortable and clean and SAFE. Unbelievable location, a block or two from Mainstrasse. Easy access to Covington, Newport, and Cincinnati. I really didn't want to tell you how great it is, will it be available for my next trip or booked up? I really hope so.

Everything was great. Lots of room. I didn't realize third bedroom was in living room on futon. But that was my error not reading closely. Worked for our though. Saw no k cup machine but had coffee and coffee pot. Suggestion to have hand towels in bathroom downstairs. Otherwise wonderful time!!

Our family stayed while visiting the Creation Museum and The Ark, it was conviently located with east access on and off the freeway with plenty to do close by. Not for elderly or anyone who has trouble climbing stairs. Great family vacation. Thank you

We had a great time at our VRBO and only had one small glitch. We came back one our second day there and there was a lady and her baby wondering around inside the place. Kind of freaked us out but hopefully that doesn’t happen to everyone. Other than that, it was great. Plenty of space and beds were comfy. We didn’t even use the kitchen, but it looked very good for those who wish to use it. Overall we would stay again.

First off, Mainstrasse Village is a very cool, walkable neighborhood and we were very pleased that we chose to stay in this area. The property was very much as described. There are quite a few steps. We didn’t find them problematic and thought they added to the charm of the older home. The property was extremely clean and well stocked with paper products, shampoo, coffee, etc. You can hear music from the Mexican restaurant downstairs, but it goes away by 10 pm and it did not bother us - also their food is delicious.
Our only minor issues were that the internet is quite slow which didn’t cause much of a problem except that my husband needed to do some work on his computer and it wasn’t fast enough to keep him connected. He was able to resolve by connecting through his phone. Our other minor issue was a small issue with the bed downstairs. It is a private room with a door, so no problem there. I had hoped one of my teenage daughters would sleep there, but neither wanted to sleep downstairs alone, so my husband and I got the downstairs room. The mattress is extremely comfortable, firm foam, but it is like a futon and has a “joint” where is converts from sofa to bed. It is perfectly comfortable for one person or 2 smaller people who like to snuggle on 2/3 of the bed, but we are not smaller people or snugglers, so I found sleeping on the “joint” uncomfortable and wound up sleeping on the sofa. It wasn’t bad at all, just not ideal.
Lastly, communication with the manager/ owner was very good. I would definitely recommend this property and look forward to returning to the area.

We got some winter weather that we weren’t expecting so anything for a little bit chilly having to buy some wood for the fireplace. The location was good. It was actually a lot close to very many dining spots and bars as well as gas stations. The house was very neat and clean, the steps are steep for those who have issues getting up and downstairs. I would not recommend other than that everything is as what they say, and I would recommend it to another person. The next time I would be mindful of weather conditions to help future tenants, but I humbly thank you for letting me and my family stay and celebrating a wonderful holiday.
