The house of the hotel is really beautiful, with a very stylish decor. The secret "rooftop room" for aperitif is amazing, garden for afternoon chill is also very beautiful. Location of the hotel right next to the small port is great. Saint Martin de Re is an amazing destination and I liked this "city" the most from places I have visited on the island. Parking on the public free parking was around 10min walk, but not a problem as you don't really use the car (bicycle everywhere)
The room with terrace that we were staying in, was extremely uncomfortable. It was basically a pool house turned to a room. There was no proper ventilation (only to open the sliding door to the garden), no privacy, no closet or a rack to put your things to. Overall very uncomfortable, and there were also no room cleaning to make it even worse.

We had a great stay at Le Secret. Jerome was very friendly and helpful. Le Secret is beautifuly restored and styled/ decorated with tastful furniture and objects. Great location near all the restaurants and shops but at the same time a quiet and serene atmosphere in the hotel, a nice little garden with a pool. Make sure to check out the tower at the top of the building for a nice view.

it is a beautiful building stylishly appoinited
our room was noisy - everyone passed the window and as there is no aircon the window was open and on the ground floor. it is also next to the door to the private area and kitchen.

The location by the harbour in St Martin is great (opposite Hotel la Jetee where we've also stayed).
The endless swimming pool in the garden was good.
The public rooms in the main building were nicely presented - however our room was in an annex alongside the garden and not as well dressed.
Almost complete lack of housekeeping in our bedroom.
Our room didn't appear to be cleaned during our 4 night stay - certainly the bed was never made. Curtains were loose on their tracks and one of the bathroom lights did not work - a daily clean would have noticed and dealt with all of these.
Our room was not as well presented as the main building - not a place you'd want to spend any time. Apart from a small flask of water (which was never refilled), no facilities for coffee/tea, no fridge for storing snacks/drinks.
Although breakfast was available, this was very expensive when compared with any number of excellent cafes/restaurants nearby.

Breakfast was great and the system they operated was perfect. The service was fab and the lovely lady that looked after us most mornings was so helpful with anything f we wanted during the day. And so friendly. Jerome was also helpful with restaurant suggestions, parking etc
More towels and better lighting in the shower!

The whole building has been beautifully restored recently and sympathetically furnished and decorated - a treat for those that have an eye for such details.
Public access areas lounge/bar, dining room all comfortable and beautiful.
Bedroom "Canopee" was a lovey size, vaulted ceiling - great bathroom/shower and a big very comfortable bed.
Breakfast was very good with 3 different options (if a little expensive).
Gerome (owner) was super friendly & helpful - very knowledgeable and took time to show us around the property and served us some very nice local drinks each evening before we headed out to dinner locally.

This hotel was stunning, the eye for detail and decor was exceptional. We absolutely loved the character of the house and took home many ideas for our own Victorian home! Our room had a lovely garden view. The hotel has a small pool and terrace area which is shared by all guests. It was quiet when we stayed but imagine it could get quite busy when at full capacity.
The location was brilliant, very central and within walking distance to the centre, all of the restaurants / shops / beach and cycle shop. It also had an amazing roof top observatory which you could book out and enjoy the stunning views with a drink, which we did almost every evening. The host was very friendly indeed, available when needed but not intrusive. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
Unfortunately, the room we had was not air conditioned which made it quite hot, but the host gave us a fan which definitely helped.

Location and interior design.
Expensive for what you get. No breakfast. Rooms feel very exposed.
4.2
Location great, easy walk to restaurants bike hire.
Location of room too close to door into dining room, info on this would have allowed us to select and book room further away and quieter.

Location excellent
You really have to like dogs & dog's hairs, + a cat in the corner . The owners' dog lays prominently around the premises , ánd not to everyone's liking . There was not a clean spray every day ,( around the premises )
+ nor were clean sheets/ towels offered / a day
+ a not so helpful owner to offer us a nice and fine stay
+ a very risky little swimming pool , you have to glide in with no supports , nearly broke my wrist .

The position was fabulous. We had a great room in the main hotel once we moved. The first room we were offered was very small at the bottom of the garden with large sliding French windows. No privacy plus very hot as no air con.
It is more a guest house, our room was not cleaned and no clean towels - disappointing

absolutely gorgeous
I didn’t like leaving

Fantastic location, on the doorstep of the port, but a peaceful oasis one inside and fantastic room overlooking a lovely garden.
Honestly hard to think of anything.
4.2
The location, the fireplace in the small lounge
Much too expensive for the room provided. Breakfast too poor for 15 euros. Very disappointing overall
4.2
Very nicely decorated, big open communal rooms, very peaceful and overlooks a small garden and deck for eating outside.
Close to the port (less than 30 seconds!) - easy to park up and drop your bags.
I think they could reconsider the costs for breakfasts - a bit steep at 25 Euros.

The decor
We don’t own it

We had a wonderful time at Le Secret. Gerome and his wife make you feel very welcome and create a fantastic chilled atmosphere. The Hotel is a beautiful mix of old and new. A real treat for interior design fans. It's great for a family and so close to all the buzz and fun of St Martin-de-Re. We can't wait to visit again.

Amazing design and helpful, friendly owners. The tower at the top is incredible! A cat in a hotel is always a bonus in my opinion.
4.2
Extraordinary breakfast, freshly picked and prepared with love.
Curated antiques and mid-century art and design, sublimating local hues and heritage.
A relaxed and cosy time bubble, from the rooms to the courtyard to the bar and to the dining room.
A priceless panoramic light tower to unwind after a day bicycling.
Delicious food tips!
