Very secure, relaxing environment. Hosts were always available for advise. Relax on the from porch with my dog and partner. Had a fantastic time

Our stay was wonderful. Bywater is charming and a great, close, and very short uber into the quarter.

Clean, secure, great outdoor area, neighborhood can have some morning noise, easy for Uber to find quickly, nice owners.

This was a great place to stay for food and culture just walking distance away. The host was great upon arrival with all of the info needed to make it a great experience across the board. Great outdoor area to sit and relax as well.

This property was everything advertised. Walk to Frenchmen and Bourbon Streets was reasonable, safe.
We had four adult males, but if stayed on the main streets never felt any issues, saw females walking regularly. Michael was very helpful and responsive the entire time. Set up rides to and from the airport(thanks Jason) and provided us with good local inside information that added to the fun and enjoyment we had in New Orleans.

My daughters and I had our first trip to New Orleans and were delighted with our host. Michael made us feel special without being obtrusive. He quickly answered all questions and requests; if felt like he dropped everything to meet our needs. He coordinated travel to and from the airport, and an off handed question turned quickly into a mystical experience after he took the time to search out anoption for us.
I would highly recommend staying at the cottage.

I was extremely impressed with the level of customer service provided by the owner! He ensured that we were picked up from the Train Station so we would not need to use an Uber or Lyft, he offered to pick up any items we may need at the store prior to our arrival and checked us in personally. His knowledge of the history of his property was amazing and intriguing. The beds were very comfortable and the courtyard ambiance was perfect - a nice evening with friends and wine! I will definitely stay here again when we come back to New Orleans!

We had a great time for our girl’s trip! Michael went above and beyond to be a helpful host! We loved the garden space especially.

Wasn’t aware that the backyard was a shared patio area, nor did we realize the homeowner was going to be in the yard the majority of the days. Although extremely friendly, we would have liked a bit more privacy. Also, the air conditioning seemed to have a hard time getting below 80 degrees inside the home. It was over 100 degrees outside for the time we were there, but would have liked a cooler experience inside the home. Everything else including the landlord was absolutely perfect though! Great neighborhood and perfect place to have a few friends and enjoy New Orleans without being smack in the middle of the quarter. It was only a couple bucks to Lyft to and from the quarter to the cottage.

Some of the rooms in images were photoshopped or altered. The home is in need of repair and has cockroaches. Which obviously ended our stay. The host company will deny this -even with picture proof. Don’t advise anyone to stay you’ll lose all your money while they lie & refuse to give a refund.

I loved the location and vibe. The owner was super helpful and responsive. I highly recommend it.

The place was well maintained and was very accommodating for our trip. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and getting some good food. It was nice to be able to just sit back and enjoy the accommodations.

We really enjoyed our stay! The highlight is the front porch and the whole outdoor courtyard area! Such a fab place to hang out! The location is also great. We not only explored Bywater, but walked over to Frenchman Street and the French Quarter. The house itself is charming. Older, but comfortable and stocked with everything we needed. On top of it all, B. Michael was a great host - super friendly and helpful!

We had an incredible experience staying for over a week on the beautiful property. Been coming to Nola for almost 25 years and once of the nicest backyards I've ever been in. Michael is a kind and attentive host who has built an amazing compound on the property. Can't wait to get back there!!

Fabulous Bywater location — right off Crescent Park, and just a few short blocks to great neighborhood restaurants. The garden space is wonderful. This is an opportunity to really “live” in New Orleans. The owner is very helpful, too.

I could have spent all day lounging in the courtyard of this lovely property. I was looking for something more non-touristy in New Orleans, and I got exactly what I wanted. This beautifully renovated historic property offered everything I was looking for. The owner was super responsive and provided interesting details about the building and the neighborhood, in general. Very dog friendly, which was a plus as well. The only suggestion (NOT to be seen as a negative, because the owner was very clear about what supplies were available and even offered to have groceries available on our arrival) is to provide very basic items (hand soap, paper products such as Kleenex, coffee, tea, sugar) to make the stay even easier. That being said, I loved the stay, the owner was great, and I will definitely be coming back!!!

The property was AMAZING. It was in a great vicinity where the "little" off the beaten track resturants are located. Honestly, we never drove our vehicle anywhere except to the swamp tour. The house was clean, the bed slept wonderful and it was equiped with everything you would need. Our fur babies went and the yard was perfect for them. If we ever return to New Orleans we will look for property offered by Michael. He was amazing. He was on the property working on a residence next door and told us where we should grocery shop, eat and how to get to the French Market, French Quarter, Bourban Street, etc. WE HAD A GREAT TIME.

The property proximity to amenities is wonderful! The owner was very easy to communicate with and explained the check in process perfectly. The location in Bywater is great - lots of restaurants close by and walkable to the Quarter. There is a gracious porch, perfect for morning coffee with a small, useable back yard. Large kitchen with full refrigerator, and stove - no dishwasher and small eating space for dining. The bedrooms are good sized and there are 2 living/sitting rooms. Nice secured parking. Only negatives were small bathroom/lack of space, lack of good dining space and painting needed. We will definetly stay there again!

The neighborhood and the owner Michael were great! Michael especially really went above and beyond to show us around and recommend places to visit nearby. The house was old and had a lot of character, and a little more dust than we would have preferred.

Comfy
If your looking for a cozy, comfortable place to stay this is it. The cottage is clean, well kept. The courtyard is relaxing. The only drawback was just one bath. Would not hesitate staying again.

Great Place to stay
This is a great place to stay. Michael is an amazing host. The house has a lot of character. The house has a security system and locked gate to secure your vehicle. Also has a nice patio area. We felt very safe at the house and within a few block radius. There are several nice eateries within a safe walking distance. I would not recommend walking to the French quarter/market from this location. It’s only a mile away but didn’t feel super safe. Homeless, drug users, graffiti, and lots of broken glass from vandalized cars. If you stay here definitely take an Uber.
I would stay here again in the future.

Secure and tranquil!
The courtyard was the most peaceful area !
After spending time surrounded by so many people in the French quarter, it was so nice to come back to such a peace place.
Great location - short walk to excellent restaurants.
Michael was a gem! You can really feel his love of his property!

Like visiting family.
This spot is a gem and perfect for everyone. Mattresses manage to envelope you while also providing support, furniture is antique and gives a proper "NOLA" flair while maintaining comfort and durability. The best spot has to be the yard with it's outdoor grill / tv pagoda, lawn, and courtyard. It was an ideal sit-down for our young family and directly off the 55 bus into downtown with a one block walk to the country club pool, architectural bridge to waterfront park, and trendy bars / restaurants. It's like the Park Slope of NOLA. Michael was absolutely the gem of our stay tho - welcoming us upon arrival, laid back and willing to store our luggage when we arrived super early, and extremely thoughtful in sharing his lawn games and NOLA swag. If you're on the fence about booking here - get off it and into a reservation for your "home away from home"!

Very nice
I went for a girls trip. But I will use this location again for a family trip. The house and property was very nice and relaxing. The owner was very tentative to us and was there if we needed anything. The parking was a big concern but it was perfect. The best VRBO I have seen.

Loved this cottage in the Bywater
The Bywater Cottage was beautiful during our April stay. The inside of the cottage is a nice 2 BR 1 BA cottage with a few extra rooms and a fully functional kitchen. But they true charm was the porch and courtyard area. We ate all of our meals outdoors during our Wednesday - Monday stay in April, and many of those meals were grab and go from the restaurant because the courtyard was so impressive we decided to spend time there. Parking was excellent as well. The car was fully secured behind a tall solid gate so that from the outside you don't even know a car is there. The bathroom, while not large, was typical of older homes. Some people have complained about the shower. My wife and I found it sized just fine. The location is about a 15 minute walk to Esplanade Avenue and the French Quarter. Also, the entire Bywater all the way to Bacchanal at the corner of Poland and Chartres, is walkable within 20 minutes. We walked everywhere and there are great neighborhood restaurants and bars throughout. We will definitely seek to stay here again while visiting New Orleans.

New Orleans Oasis
A trip to New Orleans is always enjoyable, but with a stay at the Chartres Street Cottage it is the ideal vacation. Its location in the Bywater neighborhood, with its proximity to fantastic restaurants, markets, and local sites provides for a true New Orleans experience. The property and home itself are beautiful with a rich and fascinating history. The private porch and courtyard provide the perfect setting to enjoy a cocktail and a beautiful evening. We will definitely stay again (as will all who saw our pictures)!

Cozy and chill
One of my best friends and I stayed for 5 nights and we just had the best time ever. The cottage is plenty big enough that we each had lots of privacy, and even in the shared patio area we had plenty of space to ourselves. The location was perfect, close to lots of cute little places to eat or drink, though we mostly just enjoyed some champagne in instead of going out. I would definitely stay here again.

Our host was very helpful with recommendations for all aspects of our visit to New Orleans.
We will recommend to family and friends.

Great Location
First time visiting New Orleans and this place was not far from anything. Lots of people bike riding near us. We rode our bikes and in about 5 mins we were in the French Quarter.
The house is very old but neat. Awesome outdoor seating. The bathroom is tiny but doable. My only thing I probably got frustrated with was the shower-head. Couldn’t get it positioned to stay where I wanted it.
I would probably stay there again.

Cozy NOLA vacation over Christmas
Liked the cozy setup and the yard. The property was decent, located close to the river walk, several good restaurants. Slight bit of a hike to the French quarters but nothing out of reach (1-1.5 miles, 6-8$ via Uber). Mike and company were very accommodating and the amenities were quite good!
